Yvette's words shattered Dennis's last hope, and he collapsed. His eyes widened with anger and despair as he spat out suppressed blood, splattering it across the ground. Under the moonlight, the scene was eerily creepy. Only then did Dennis truly feel fear and regret.

Before Yvette's return to the Chambers family, Dennis had investigated her background, finding it unremarkable. He'd never taken her seriously, dismissing her as a simple rural girl unworthy of his attention. He'd mused, "What's the worst that could happen if Yvette discovers I hurt Lilian? Handling her would be a breeze!"

Now, everything clicked into place. It was easy for a top hacker, invincible at the International Cybersecurity Conference, to erase her past. Clever as he was, Dennis had been completely outsmarted. Yvette's actions had ruined the Smith family overnight and cruelly tortured him.

Dennis recklessly declared, "Never thought you'd be a hacker! I lost fair and square, but we're in a hospital, and I can't believe you'd kill me here. As long as I'm alive, I'll sue you for attempted murder. Just wait and see!"

Yvette shoved her hands in her pockets, her eyes half-closed, her posture relaxed and nonchalant. Calmly, she said, "I'm sorry, but you won't have that chance."

Effortlessly, she lifted the scrawny Dennis and slammed his head onto the floor, leaving his lower body dangling. Terrified, he didn't dare move. If Yvette let go, he would fall from the rooftop and be smashed to pieces.

Suddenly realizing Yvette intended to kill him, he begged, "I beg you! I was wrong, Yvette! Please spare me! Don't you want to know what really happened to your mother? If you spare me, I'll tell you the truth! Don't you want revenge? I'll tell you everything!"

Dennis had exhausted his options. If he possessed any other tricks, he wouldn't have resorted to this. Yvette stared at his terrified face, speaking slowly and gently, which only intensified his fear. "Say it," she commanded.

Dennis remained silent. He knew speaking was unwise. Revealing everything would drastically reduce his chances of survival; he was certain she wouldn't hesitate to kill him.

Yvette sneered, her eyes unreadable as her slender fingers tightened their grip. With a fierce glare, she silently warned, "Oneโ€ฆ twoโ€ฆ"

Dennis's face paled. Breathing grew difficult. He understood; at three, she would let go.

He managed to gasp, "I'll say it! I'll tell you everything!"

When Yvette heard this, she dragged him up and threw him to the ground with a loud crack, eliciting a painful scream. Gasping for air, he confessed: "The Betrico bio-lab needed funding. The director, my old friend Rashad Pollard, contacted me. He said we could make a fortune if the project succeeded, but we needed a clandestine test subject. Nellie wanted to marry Zachary and insisted I eliminate Lilian. So, I arranged for someone to incapacitate Lilian and deliver her to Rashad. What happened after, I don't know. Please, have mercy!"

Seeing Yvette's expressionless face, Dennis panicked. She tilted her head, her eyes gleaming cruelly. She took a small black pill from her pocket and tossed it into his open mouth. Before he could react, he'd swallowed it. Desperately clawing at his throat was futile.

He asked, "What did you give me?"

Yvette's voice was scornful, cool, and detached. "It's not important," she said. "From now on, every time you sleep, your most painful memories will haunt you. You'll see faces you wish to avoid, relive your deepest fears, until your last breath."

She put her hands in her pockets and walked away without looking back. Dennis couldn't believe such a drug existed. Unable to move, he desperately shouted for help.

The next morning, he was found on the cold rooftop, his mouth twisted, eyes drooping. Doctors diagnosed a stroke. He was paralyzed, unable to speak clearly. Police found no explanation for his presence on the rooftop; security footage from that time was missing.

During his paralysis, he suffered physical and mental torment. Yvette hadn't lied. Whenever he closed his eyes, he was haunted by the faces of those he'd harmed.

In three days, the Smith family's stocks plummeted, and the Smith Group was seized. In Seacrity, the Smith family ceased to exist, leaving only three of the four major families. Wyatt investigated, clearing the victims' names and delivering justice. Children with leukemia received care, and corrupt officials were punished, alleviating public outrage. The Smith family's ordeal ended. Dennis's sentence was revised to life imprisonment, given his condition; he would be transferred from the hospital to prison once his health stabilized.

Ten days later, fresh from a shower, Yvette received a call from the Eagle King in Mysonna. He reported, "Boss, you were right. Zeke and Nellie escaped to Mysonna. But Zeke broke his leg within a week. That fool got involved with a local leader's mistress. To save himself, he offered his mother to the gang leader, who agreed. Later, they tried to run away with stolen money and were caught. They broke his leg and left him on the street. Now he's begging to survive, and his mother's not much better off."

Yvette was slightly stunned, holding her towel. With an expressionless face and a low, hoarse voice, she said, "Okay, I understand. Bye."

Dennis lay on the bed, drool on his face. His thin body had wasted away, emitting an unpleasant smell. He looked like a skeleton, only his moving eyes proving he was alive.

Winona entered, dressed in designer clothes and white flats. Seeing him, her expression was distant and disgusted. She covered her nose and said in her gentle voice, "Grandpa, how are you?"

Hearing her voice, Dennis tried to reach out but couldn't move, only making helpless sounds. Winona sat, staring at him, chin held high. She smirked, saying, "Grandpa, I'm pregnant. Guess who the father is?"

Dennis was conscious. His eyes lit up at her words. Winona ignored his reaction, looking at him intently, saying slowly, "You won't guess. You think Victor? Nope, it's Robert. Interesting, isn't it?"
