Lucas walked past with a poker face, his mind racing. Everyone in Seacrity's high society knew about Winona's pregnancy. He wondered if something had gone wrong.

Yulia, who had followed the ambulance, also spotted Lucas. She felt awkward, considering Winona's status. After all, Winona was the result of Nellie's affair; a bastard child. Yulia wondered what karma had befallen the Carter family.

In the VIP ward, doctors conducted a detailed examination at Zachary's bedside. Harold, the attending physician, was present. After a thorough examination, the doctors exchanged glances. Harold, looking at the still-weak Zachary with multiple external injuries, said, "Mr. Chambers, the blood clot in your brain has dissipated. Apart from your external injuries, there are no major issues. With rest and regular medication, you should be able to leave the hospital in about a week."

Zachary, though weak, had a clear mind. He vividly remembered the brake failure. The driver had found a safe spot, minimizing potential harm. But then, a truck barreled toward them, and everything went black. He mused, "As an experienced driver, my injuries are minor. This doesn't add up. Could fate have saved me?"

He touched his head bandage and looked at Harold sincerely. "Dr. Anderson, Seacrity Hospital truly lives up to its reputation. You're an outstanding doctor. Thank you for saving my life."

Harold and the other doctors exchanged odd expressions. Harold's face reddened. Zachary, noticing their silence, wondered if he'd said something wrong. A doctor in his early thirties spoke, "Mr. Chambers, are you aware that Dr. Anderson didn't perform your surgery?"

Zachary was taken aback. "I'm sorry, I just woke up. I'm not sure what happened."

Harold put away his stethoscope. "Mr. Chambers, I didn't perform your surgery. After examining you, I lacked confidence; the success rate was too low."

Zachary thought, 'What's the big deal? It's just a different doctor. But who could have done it if even Harold couldn't?' He looked at the young doctors. "If not Dr. Anderson, who performed the surgery? I need to know. I want to thank them."

Harold paused, confused. Seeing Zachary's genuine unawareness, he said, "Mr. Chambers, your life was saved by your daughter, Ms. Zeller."

Zachary was bewildered. "What? You mean Yvette performed the surgery and saved me?"

Harold nodded. "And Ms. Zeller didn't use a scalpel; she used traditional medicine."

Zachary lowered his head, then raised it with a proud smile. "Wow, I had no idea Yvette knew traditional medicine! She never mentioned it. She's like thatโ€”she knows many things but never talks about them. I should talk to her, don't you think?"

The doctors' faces betrayed their annoyance at Zachary's humblebragging.

Harold's mouth twitched. He instructed Zachary to rest, fearing he might lose his temper. Zachary would be in the hospital for a while; he could speak with Yvette later.

As Harold and the doctors reached the door, they met Lucas, carrying food. They exchanged greetings, and Lucas entered. Seeing Zachary's grin, he wondered if Zachary's brain was truly back to normal.

Lucas respectfully set down the food and gave Zachary chopsticks. "Mr. Chambers, I just saw Winona brought in on a stretcher."

Zachary paused, took a sip of soup, his expression darkening. "Hmm," he said coldly.

Lucas, sensing the shift in mood, remained silent. Zachary put down his bowl and stared at Lucas. "Harold said Yvette saved me. Tell me exactly what happened."

On the third floor, in room 305, Yulia sat while Winona lay on the bed, feigning unconsciousness. They awaited Robert and Victor. Ten minutes later, the door opened. Winona's heart leaped, but she remained still.

Robert and Victor arrived directly from the company. Victor, recently interning there at Robert's behest, had ample time alone with Winona. They'd rushed from a meeting after Winona's call. Robert's anxiety and anger were palpable.

At the door, Victor smirked, mocking his father's eagerness. He composed himself and followed Robert into the room.

Yulia stood. "Mr. Carter, Victor, you're here."

Robert ignored her, rushing to Winona's side. "What happened? Weren't you shopping? How did someone end up with a gun? Winona wasn't clear on the phone. What does this have to do with Yvette? Tell me exactly what happened!"

Yulia was startled by Robert's concern for Winona, particularly since her pregnancy. She thought, He never seemed this interested in kids before.

Victor stood beside Yulia, his eyes hostile toward Robert. After Robert's anxious questioning, Victor interjected, "Is the baby okay? This is our Carter family's precious grandchild."

Yulia, suspecting Winona's unconsciousness was feigned, relayed the doctor's report. "The baby is fine. They've checked, and Winona should be waking up soon."

Robert looked stunned. Yulia's calm demeanor was unexpected; she shouldn't be so composed, he thought.
