Listen to this chapter:

A plain-looking police officer approached Robert and asked, "Hello, how can I assist you?"

Robert, seething with anger, ignored the officer's question. Victor, however, intervened. "Hello, officer," he said. "We are the family of the pregnant woman involved in today's shooting at Skyline Plaza. We're here to address the matter."

Robert, maintaining his haughty demeanor, launched into a tirade. "We are Winona's family," he declared. "She's still in the hospital. Have you arrested Yvette? That criminal must be severely punished. She should never harm society again. Our lawyers are en route, and we will pursue this to the end. She needs to rot in jail, or our Carter family's influence will have been for nothing."

The officer, witnessing Robert's rudeness, responded in a strictly professional tone. "The suspect is currently in the interrogation room. Please wait in the seating area and do not disturb others. Thank you for your cooperation." He returned to his desk.

Robert's face fell at the officer's dismissal. He was about to argue, but Victor restrained him. "Dad," Victor whispered, his eyes flashing with resentment, "don't cause a scene. The Carter family isn't powerful enough to control everything here. Do you want to face Grandpa's wrath again?"

Robert, intimidated by the memory of his father's harsh punishments, immediately complied. Victor gave him a cold look. "Let's go. Yvette's offense won't be resolved quickly. Didn't you call the lawyer? Let's wait for him."

Victor led a surprisingly subdued Robert to the waiting area.

Bonnie, finishing her takeout, looked up as Victor approached. Her expression hardened. He's here to cause trouble for Yvette, she thought, just like Winona.

"What are you doing here?" Victor asked, his tone interrogative.

"What's it to you?" Bonnie retorted, tossing her lunch box in the trash.

Victor, surprisingly calm, was taken aback. Robert stepped forward, his eyes leering at Bonnie. Not stunningly beautiful, but cute, he thought. "Are you here for Yvette? Do you know about her pulling a gun on Winona?" Victor asked.

Bonnie glared. "It's all Winona's fault," she said clearly. "If Winona hadn't started trouble and slapped me, Yvette wouldn't have gotten angry. You're already defending your fiancรฉe. You two are a perfect match."

My ability to stand up for myself has improved, Bonnie thought. I won't back down.

Victor remained silent, but Robert couldn't contain himself. "How can you be so disrespectful? Winona is pregnant; it's normal for her to have mood swings. A slap? Haven't you heard, 'take a step back and the world opens up'? You're a student at Argol University! What are you arguing with a pregnant woman for?"

Bonnie was stunned by Robert's audacity. Victor, too, was speechless. Dad really went to great lengths to protect Winona, he thought.

"It's not you who beat me; it's your shamelessness," Bonnie retorted, her face flushed.

Robert opened his mouth to retort, but Andrew's voice cut through the air: "Bonnie?"

Jeremiah and Andrew entered. Bonnie looked at Andrew, feeling lost. Victor and Robert, seeing Jeremiah, felt a chill. This was the man even Wyatt respected as "Mr. Chavez"โ€”Yvette's biggest supporter.

Andrew saw the handprint on Bonnie's face and stopped abruptly. He then continued walking, his gaze sharp. Stopping before Bonnie, he asked, his tone a mix of frustration and tenderness, "Who did this?"

Tears welled in Bonnie's eyes. Andrew gently wiped them away. "If you don't want to say, it's okay," he reassured her.

Sobbing, Bonnie explained, "It was Winona. Yvette and I were shopping. Winona started the trouble, and she hit me."

Andrew's demeanor shifted. "Winona? Is she still alive?"

Bonnie shook her head. "No. Yvette told me to hit her back. I slapped her twice, and she fainted."

Andrew turned to Robert and Victor, his eyes cold. He touched Bonnie's face gently. "How do you want her to pay for this?"
