Listen to this chapter:

Jeremiah watched the two women walk away, speaking quietly. He sighed and followed; he was accustomed to such situations. The rest of the group quickly parted, aware of their inferior standing compared to Yvette, preventing them from acting so casually around him.

As the three took their seats, Jared attempted to enliven the atmosphere. Everyone else remained reserved and cautious, casting furtive glances at the trio on the couch. To be fair, the sight of them together was undeniably pleasing.

Keira, seeing things unraveling, clenched her teeth in frustration. Turning to Joel, who had just recovered from his shock, tears welled in his eyes. "Joel, please forgive me! I'll never do it again, I swear!" she sobbed. Joel looked at her impatiently and forcefully shook off her hand. "Keira," he said mercilessly, "let's part ways amicably. Leave now."

Irritated by Joel's ruthlessness, Keira snapped, losing control of her emotions. She thought, Without Joel's backing, those I've offended will retaliate. I can't let that happen; I might as well take him down with me. With a crazed expression, she screamed, "Joel, since you're so heartless, don't blame me for being ruthless!"

Joel's heart skipped a beat as he looked at the frantic Keira. He thought, What is this woman planning? Keira's outburst silenced the room. Just as Samantha finished mixing a cocktail for Yvette, the music stopped, and all eyes turned toward the commotion. Only Jeremiah and Yvette remained unaffected. Jeremiah peeled an apple for Yvette without lifting his head. Yvette sipped her cocktail, eyes lowered, contemplating another. What if I get too tipsy and start a fight? she thought, glancing at Jeremiah. Can he take a hit? To drink or not to drinkโ€”that's the question.

Keira, furious at being ignored, yelled, "Ms. Zeller, did you know that before you arrived, everyone was saying Samantha was Mr. Chavez's childhood sweetheart, the perfect match? They said you came from a small city and weren't good enough for him!" (She embellished the last part, of course.)

Everyone froze in fear. Is this reckless woman trying to get us into trouble? they thought. Joel was especially frightened, his panic intensifying as he met Jeremiah's sharp gaze. He hurriedly stopped Keira. "Shut up! When did we ever say that? Are you out of your mind? Don't try to pin this on us!"

The others quickly joined in, remembering the women imprisoned. "Jeremiah, Ms. Zeller, she's lying! We never said such a thing!" "Yeah, Jeremiah, we're innocent. You have to believe us! How could we possibly talk like that behind your back?" "Jeremiah, Ms. Zeller, this woman is crazy. She's just mad because Joel wants to break up with her, so she's randomly accusing us." "We swear we didn't say anything like that!"

Samantha watched the anxious explanations, tilting her head at Yvette's expressionless face. "They're smart enough to know what they can say. They didn't have the guts to say anything like that. This woman's just trying to stir up trouble." Everyone gave her grateful looks. It was now up to Yvette. The room's attention returned to her; they understood Yvette's importance to Jeremiah.

Yvette lazily rested her arm on the couch, sleeves casually rolled up. Her pretty, cold eyes swept the room, delicate brows arching slightly. She set down her cocktail, tilted her head slowly, and asked Jeremiah, "I'm not good enough for you? Is that so? Do I not deserve you?"

Jeremiah glanced at the uneasy crowd. Then, sternly, "Not good enough? I'm the one who's not good enough for her, not the other way around. Got it?"

The room stared in disbelief. This statement held significant weight; Jeremiah was humbling himself for his girlfriend. They thought, What kind of charm does Yvette possess? If even Jeremiah isn't good enough for her, who else would dare claim they are?

Yvette looked at the disbelieving crowd with clear, bright eyes. In a flat tone, she asked, "Did you all hear that clearly?" Everyone instinctively nodded and said in unison, "Yes." Their response was remarkably synchronized. They exchanged glances, thinking, How embarrassing! How did we let ourselves be so completely intimidated by one woman?

Yvette turned to Samantha, motioning toward the empty glass. Samantha's eye twitched; she found Yvette demanding. Without a word, she resignedly mixed another drink. She never imagined she, a powerful CEO, would be reduced to a bartender. She couldn't help it; she couldn't refuse such a stunning, commanding presence.

Keira's face turned pale. She felt like someone who had tried to gain but ended up losing. Her tactic had backfired spectacularly. Seeing this, she resorted to her usual dramatic antics. She screamed at Joel, "If you break up with me, I'll kill myself right here! Let's see how the media spins that story!" She then pointed at everyone. "And the rest of you, with your privileged backgrounds, what will you do if you're labeled as murderers?"

Her words struck a nerve, shocking and scaring them. They glared at Keira, a crazy woman in their minds. If she died there, the media would spin stories regardless of the truth, tarnishing their families' reputations.

Keira, thinking she had them under control, looked at Joel arrogantly. "Joel, are you breaking up with me or not? Just say it!"

Joel was furious. If he had known Keira's true nature, he wouldn't have been with her. He swallowed his humiliation and planned to agree to stay together. Just as he was about to speak, a calm, cold voice rang out. "You want to kill yourself?"

Everyone turned to the sofa. It was Yvette, who had quietly consumed three cocktails. Yvette uncrossed her legs and stood, ready to help Keira. This was the first time Jeremiah had seen Yvette drink. He thought, She's only had three cocktails; they're not even strong. She'll be fine, right?

Yvette put her hands in her pockets, walking in a straight line to Keira. With an intense gaze, she asked again, "Are you really thinking of killing yourself?" Eagle King's advice echoed in her mind: After drinking, always ask twice before granting someone's request.

Keira braced herself, thinking, There's no way I'm backing down now. What could a woman possibly do to me? She shouted, "Yes, if Joel breaks up with me today, I'll throw myself against the wall and kill myself!"

Yvette's eyelids were slightly lowered, eyes bloodshot, expression serious. She lifted them, eyes now bright, clear, and focused. She mumbled slowly, "I've already asked twice." No one understood. What does asking twice have to do with anything? they wondered.
