Listen to this chapter:

Jase, Clifford, and Jeremiah conversed in the Chavez living room. Jase sipped his coffee, observing Clifford, impeccably dressed after hosting the Ybaulla delegation as the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"How did it go?" Jase inquired.

Clifford rubbed his forehead. "It's alright. I've dealt with Kyle before; I can handle the situation."

Jase's expression darkened at the mention of Kyle. "Be cautious," he cautioned. "Instructions from above are clear: our interests in the trade agreement must not be compromised."

Clifford nodded. "I understand, Dad. Don't worry."

Jase emphasized, "Kyle's safety is paramount, especially if the agreement falters. His visit amidst Ybaulla's political uncertainty makes the higher authorities suspicious. Ybaulla will retaliate if anything happens to him in Clusia. It's absolute security or nothing."

Jeremiah, exuding effortless elegance, crossed his legs and lifted his gaze. He thought, Hmm, Kyle would be digging his own grave if he were to use us against his enemies.

The meeting concluded, and as Jeremiah prepared to leave, Aurora entered, surprised to find them all there. She wondered, What chance brought them together? They're usually too busy for a family gathering. It must be significant political affairs; otherwise, they'd have used the phone.

"Jase, have you had dinner?" Aurora asked.

"Yes," Jase replied. "And you've been shopping with Yvette?"

Aurora was taken aback by Jase's interest in such a seemingly trivial matter.

Jeremiah, noticing Aurora's delight, asked, "Have you been enjoying yourselves?"

Aurora, adopting a mysterious air, sat facing them, chin slightly raised. She relished the secret, smirking. "There's a prize for guessing what I've got."

Clifford, as her husband, attempted first. "Um, you won the lottery?"

Aurora snorted. "Boring. Try harder."

"Amazing outfits?" Jeremiah suggested, glancing at his watch.

Aurora pursed her lips, turning to Jase. Jase tapped his cane. "Yvette gave you a gift?"

Aurora's eyes sparkled. Jase's guess impressed her. "Jase, you're the epitome of wisdom," she declared.

She clapped her hands. Servants entered, each carrying a large bag. They lined up, unzipping the bags to reveal a dazzling array of couture gowns.

Clifford exclaimed, "What? Did you buy a store?"

Jeremiah was impressed, while Jase calmly sipped his coffee, already aware of Yvette's significant fashion brand.

Aurora boasted, "See? Yvette's gifts for me. Aren't they beautiful?"

Clifford frowned, thinking, Even though Yvette is a famous painter, she couldn't afford this. This won't do. Jeremiah fiddled indifferently with his phone. Jase subtly nudged Jeremiah, surprised by his calmness.

"These gifts must have cost Yvette a fortune," Jase remarked with feigned astonishment.

Jeremiah pocketed his phone, smiling faintly. "Yvette's got the money, and I've got the honey."

Jase chuckled at the irony: the lionhearted Chavez men were all sweethearts at home.

Clifford voiced his concern. "Honey, Yvette needs that money. Let's write her a check."

Aurora laughed at Clifford's worried, slightly condescending concern, unaware of Yvette's wealth. His reaction confounded Clifford. "Are you alright? You've been acting weird today."

"Remember Vibe, my favorite clothing brand?" Aurora hinted.

Clifford nodded. "Of course. You always loved their designs, and each client could only order one gown. But why are you bringing this up?"

"Then guess the brand of the gowns," Aurora said.

"It's Vibe?" Clifford guessed correctly, spoiling Aurora's fun.

"Yes," she admitted.

Clifford, surprised by his accurate guess, adjusted his glasses. "Each client orders one gown, but there are twenty items. Did they change their policy?"

Jeremiah, observing the gowns, smiled knowingly. It must be Yvette, my angel, dazzling us again with one of her secret identities.

Aurora cleared her throat. "No, their policy remains unchanged. Vibe was Yvette's teenage hobby."

Clifford was dumbfounded, realizing everyone except him knew. He asked, frustrated, "Dad, did you and Jeremiah already know?"

"Not long ago," Jase confirmed. Jeremiah added, "Just now."

Clifford, still incredulous, asked, "Yvette owns my favorite fashion brand? Seriously?"

Aurora pinched him. "Wake up! Who else would be so generous?"

"Ow!" Clifford yelped. "You win. I'm just curious." He was amazed by Yvette's success, building major businesses as a teenager.

Jase stood, surveying the room. "Life is full of surprisesโ€”which isn't surprising."
