Listen to this chapter:

Jeremiah was accustomed to being overlooked. His mother, upon seeing Yvette, essentially dismissed him. He sat down, casually pinching Yvette's waist, a deeper smile gracing his lips. Aurora and Samantha observed this gesture.

Samantha scoffed. "Is Mr. Chavez now taking such blatant advantage?" she thought, "Shameless!"

Aurora stared at his hand. "My son's hand is so rough," she mused, "it's displeasing to look at."

Jeremiah, sensing their hostility, chuckled, provocatively pinching Yvette again. He thought, "These two are bewitched by Yvette. Do they think they can compete with me for her attention? They haven't a chance..."

Aurora was surprised by his childish behavior. Something about her son seemed different, though she couldn't articulate it.

Jeremiah lowered his head, his deep eyes on Yvette. In an enticing whisper, he asked, "How many desserts have you eaten? Aren't we having steak later?"

Yvette's expression wavered before she put down her fork, clearly choosing steak over dessert.

Jeremiah nodded, satisfied. "Let's go home. Charles and the others have prepared the steak; they're waiting."

Yvette nodded and turned to Samantha. "Would you like to join us for dinner?"

Samantha waved her hand. "Yve, I can't. I have some things to attend to." Zion was still at her office entrance, and his stubbornness meant she couldn't leave until she checked on him.

Yvette shifted her gaze to Aurora, but before she could speak, Aurora said, "You and Jeremiah go ahead. I won't join. Enjoy yourselves!"

"Okay," Yvette replied.

Yvette and Jeremiah left the Chavez residence. Aurora and Samantha watched them go. "The handsome man and beautiful woman, their backs complementing each other perfectly," they thought.

Aurora sighed. "I finally understand how Jeremiah wooed Yvette."

Samantha, arms crossed, agreed. "Yve is an unapologetic foodie, and Mr. Chavez won her over with a steak dinner," she mused. "I've decided to open a steakhouse," she declared.

Aurora paused. "Then I'll open a barbecue restaurant."

"Mrs. Chavez," Samantha suggested, "how about we collaborate on a steak and barbecue chain?"

"Deal," Aurora replied immediately. "My company will prepare the contracts."

Samantha smiled. "I'll just sign them."

Their partnership blossomed unexpectedly, leading to the country's largest steak and barbecue chainโ€”but that's a story for another time.

In the car, before Yvette fastened her seatbelt, Jeremiah pulled her close. She didn't resist. In the next moment, she was on his lap. "This position?" she thought.

She squirmed; it was uncomfortable. Jeremiah's breathing grew rough; his voice, husky and low, held a different kind of temptation. "Don't move," he commanded.

In the dim car, Yvette's gaze was intense. "Are you acting like a hooligan?"

Jeremiah paused, then touched her fingertips. "I only became a hooligan when I met you," he whispered.

Yvette lifted his chin. "He's quite good at this," she thought, "and it suits me just fine." She kissed him, a hot and dominant kiss that stole his breath. His blue eyes darkened, and he returned the kiss with equal intensity.

At Skyland, Andrew and Charles watched a news report replaying Yvette's encounter with Robin. Charles was unsurprised. "If this is violence," he thought, "they haven't seen Yvette's true violent side. The most important thing is that I only learned today she's an Interpol officer."

The revelation was staggering. "She controls them, and she does it well," Charles mused. "She's more than just mysterious; she's amazing!"

Andrew watched with admiration. "Charles," he exclaimed, "Yvette's awesome! Watching her take down Robin and Malcolm was satisfying!"

Charles nodded. "It was satisfying," he agreed. "She must have a plan; otherwise, those two wouldn't be alive."

Andrew smiled. "Charles, you must have done good deeds in a past life to learn from Yvette, though your luck was bad. You learned art; if you'd learned martial arts, you'd be a legend!"

Charles chuckled inwardly. Awkward being called an artist by Andrew every day.

At ten-thirty, Jeremiah and Yvette returned to Skyland, where Andrew and Charles had prepared the steak.

Andrew rushed over. "Yvette, you've worked hard. Enjoy your steak!" He was fully embracing his "flunky" role, momentarily forgetting Jeremiah's presence.

Charles, unable to contain himself, said, "Yve, the steak's ready."

Yvette looked at Andrew, smiled slightly, and murmured, "Thank you."

Andrew waved his hand. "Your happiness is my honor."

Jeremiah pinched his eye. Along with my mother and Samantha, here's Andrew.

Jeremiah coughed. "Let's go."

Andrew turned to Jeremiah. "Oh, Mr. Chavez, you're back too."

Jeremiah pointed to the entrance sign. "This is my house."

Andrew sheepishly smiled. Mr. Chavez belongs to Yve, so his house is essentially hers.
