Cedric suppressed his doubts, bowing respectfully. "Mr. Harper, the woman from Clusia who assaulted Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Hart yesterday is definitely Yvette. There's no mistake. While we lack a clear photograph, the name is confirmed. Is there a problem? Do you know this woman?"
Kaiden's face hardened, his body trembling slightly. The name sent a jolt through him, triggering a flood of memories. The hallway's shadows concealed his sinister expression, looming in the dim light. He still refused to speak the name. Yvette was a nightmare, a persistent shadow in his life; she was the one who had brutally severed his pinky finger. He would never forget her stunning, yet emotionless face and icy eyes.
Seeing Kaiden's horrified stillness, Cedric remained silent, stepping aside quietly, wondering who Yvette was and how she could cause such panic in the usually composed Mr. Harper.
After a moment, Kaiden shook off the memories, moving his fingers slightly. Shrouded in a gloomy aura, he masked his fear. "Go check again. Is that woman still in Betrico? I want detailed information."
"Immediately, Mr. Harper," Cedric replied.
Back in his hotel room, Kaiden paced anxiously. A dreadful feeling settled upon him. What if this woman is Ms. Zeller? Why has she reappeared in Betrico after so many years? And why did she attack Robin and Malcolm, becoming involved in the Clusia-Ybaulla conflict? It's just like her—only Ms. Zeller possesses such audacity.
Yvette's presence foreshadowed trouble at the competition. He clenched his teeth, retrieved his phone, and called someone in Mysonna. If Yvette had indeed appeared, Braydon would be more eager than anyone to see her.
The call connected. A cold voice answered, "What is it?"
A chill ran down Kaiden's spine. He'd heard that voice for three years during their time at the training camp. Since returning to Ybaulla, their conversations were purely business. Braydon was lifeless in most interactions, showing vitality only around Yvette.
Kaiden fought to remain calm, but the urgency in his voice betrayed him. "Mr. Goodman, have you seen the recent news? Ms. Zeller is in Betrico."
Braydon paused. His voice deepened. "I saw it."
Silence fell on Kaiden's end. Braydon used to go wild at the mention of Yvette's name. Why is he so composed now? Has he moved on? Unlikely. Everyone at the training camp witnessed Braydon's obsession. Changing his focus? Never. Of course, Kaiden didn't know Braydon was overwhelmed. Damian's return had thrown Mysonna's underworld into chaos. Damian's influence was considerable. Braydon was expending all his energy countering his formidable grandfather, leaving him no time for Yvette.
Kaiden continued, "Ms. Zeller is also an Interpol officer. Did you know that?"
In the darkened Goodman residence study, only the computer screen illuminated Braydon's handsome face and the charming scar above his brow. Newspapers lay scattered on the desk, and a shadowy image of Yvette's back filled the screen.
Braydon stared intensely at the image. A faint smile touched his lips. His voice remained cold. "I know."
Kaiden's grip tightened on the phone. Braydon knows her identity. Doesn't he understand how terrifying it is? How can he be so calm?
"Mr. Goodman, do you know why Ms. Zeller is in Betrico?" Kaiden asked. This was his primary concern. He knew who had taught him fencing. If Yvette interfered, he had no chance of winning. He needed to understand her presence.
Braydon's eyes burned with a wild intensity and deep infatuation. He yelled into the phone, "Some guy tricked her into going to Betrico. It's just a fling. She'll be back to me. That guy deceived her!" He then hurled the phone against the wall, shattering it.
Kaiden stared blankly. What did Braydon say? Is he losing it? He claims Ms. Zeller was tricked? Impossible. If anyone did the tricking, it would be her. But that's also impossible. Ms. Zeller would never fall in love!
Then, he reconsidered. Given Braydon's obsession, if it weren't true, he wouldn't have said that. So, it might be true. Did Ms. Zeller come to Betrico for a man? Even if so, that's not necessarily bad. It suggests she wasn't intentionally involved in yesterday's café incident. A coincidence, less to worry about.
Suddenly remembering Robin at Betrico Hospital, Kaiden decided to question him. He shouted to his bodyguards, "Get the car ready! We're going to Betrico Hospital!"
At the hospital, Robin was bandaged like a mummy, only his eyes visible. Yvette had dislocated his legs and shoulders and he had suffered gunshot wounds, losing so much blood he'd gone into shock. Betrico Hospital's director had personally operated, saving his life. The extent of Yvette's assault was clear.
Malcolm's condition was even worse. The bullet had remained lodged too long, leaving him permanently weakened. Half his body lacked normal strength, rendering heavy lifting impossible. He was a shadow of his former self.
Upon Kaiden's arrival, Robin writhed in pain, distrusting the hospital staff and refusing treatment unless Ybaulla doctors arrived. The Betrico doctors, unconcerned, let him suffer.
