Listen to this chapter:

On the way to the interrogation room, all the soldiers saluted Jeremiah, yet none seemed surprised by Yvette and Samantha's presence in the First Military District. This piqued Samantha's curiosity. "Isn't it strange?" she mused. "Jeremiah is known as a ruthless general, and he's never had a woman around him. Yet here we are, Yve and I, and no one seems curious. Don't these soldiers gossip about Jeremiah at all?"

Approaching the interrogation room, Jeremiah instructed Samantha, "Mr. Mitchell is looking for you. Wait for him in his office." He then summoned a passing soldier: "Take her to Mr. Mitchell's office."

The young soldier, thrilled at the interaction, responded loudly, "Yes, Major General!"

Samantha nodded. "Okay, Jeremiah, I understand." She had no interest in interrogating prisoners. "I just have a feeling Yve's methods will be terrifying. I'm worried I'll have nightmares if I get involved."

After Samantha left with the soldier, Jeremiah turned to Yvette, smiled softly, and said, "Everyone unrelated to the interrogation has been removed. The remaining men are trusted; feel free to do as you like. They won't leave the interrogation room alive."

Yvette lazily lifted her eyelids. "Got it."

Jeremiah, sensing her subdued mood, gently squeezed her hand. "Mom is fine. They didn't dare touch her; they just locked her up." A flash of anger crossed his eyes. If anything happens to my mother today, I will make them pay a thousandfold.

Yvette's delicate features softened as the coldness in her eyes faded. Jeremiah had sensed her distress from the moment they met; he knew the reason.

Inside the interrogation room, five men in black, faces a mix of anger and numbness, awaited their fate. They offered no resistance, only gritted their teeth. Their hidden poisons had been confiscated, leaving them desperate but unwilling to betray their master.

Jeremiah and Yvette's entrance elicited a flicker of fear. The men recognized the man who had silently restrained them at the resort, finding them regardless of their hiding place. Capturing one might not be difficult, but apprehending all five simultaneously was masterful. During the interrogation, Jeremiah's powerful aura, his silent observation, was more intimidating than any questioning. Such men inspired fearโ€”their intentions inscrutable, their methods unknown.

The five men exchanged puzzled glances upon seeing Yvette. Why a woman? Is this a trap?

Yvette casually pulled out a chair, sat, crossed her legs, and leisurely unwrapped a piece of vanilla toffee.

The five men were taken aback. Aren't Clusia soldiers disciplined? Why is this woman defying protocol?

The Clusia soldiers present were also surprised. "This Major General's girlfriend certainly has personality," one muttered. "Someone unfamiliar might think she's playing a game."

Yvette was the first woman to ever enter the interrogation room. Jeremiah placed orange juice within easy reach for her, then sat beside her, skillfully peeling oranges and arranging them in a fruit bowl with meticulous precision.

The five Ybaullan men conversed in Silarian, a dialect few understood.

Meanwhile, Samantha, feeling like she was riding on Yvette's coattails, reflected on the First Military District's significance. It was the nation's most important base, its soldiers carefully selected. Many aspired to join, but it required rigorous assessment. The district controlled crucial military power, cultivating high-level talent, brooking no mistakes. She had always wanted to see it, but her father had forbidden it. If not for Yve, I probably wouldn't have seen it in my lifetime. Since I'm here, I might as well look around.

Samantha asked the soldier guiding her, "Excuse me, may I ask a question?"

The young soldier, blushing at the beautiful woman's gentle demeanor, stammered, "Uhโ€ฆ yes, ma'am, but I can't answer anything about the military district." No matter who it is, I won't reveal national security information.

Samantha clarified, "No, I meant, aren't you curious about Jeremiah's gossip? Two beautiful women with himโ€”isn't anyone curious?"

The soldier looked at her oddly. "You mean the woman with the Major General? We've already seen her photos."

Samantha was dumbfounded. "No way! How did Yve get into the First Military District?"
