The moment the woman saw the scene, her eyes lit up, revealing a previously hidden ambition. However, Yvette's gaze caused her to instantly revert to a weak and pitiful demeanor. "Thank you, kind sir. May I have your contact information? I'll be sure to repay you both later," she said, hoping to lower Yvette's guard; the man's number was her true objective.
Jeremiah didn't even look at her, and the tense atmosphere returned. A growing crowd murmured about the incident, sympathizing with the seemingly bullied woman.
Yvette observed the woman's performance, raised an eyebrow, and subtly flicked her eyelids. Her usual coldness was evident as she asked, "Are you done with your act?" The four words silenced the crowd.
Jeremiah lowered his gaze. "The girl has no idea how to expose this poorly acted woman."
The woman, fighting back tears, looked at Yvette. "I didn't expect this ugly woman to have such a pleasant voice," she argued. "Miss, I don't know what you mean. Everyone saw this man attacking me. I only wanted protection; if you don't want to help, why say such things?" The onlookers glared at Yvette, clearly favoring the woman.
Yvette brushed dust from her clothes, crossed her legs, and nonchalantly assessed the woman. "Your outfit is the latest LV, worth thirty thousand dollars," she stated. "Those shoes are Dior, a limited edition, at least seventy thousand dollars." She pointed to the necklace. "That blue diamond, though small, is worth at least one hundred thousand dollars." Finally, she added, "And that watch is a Jacob & Co. 50th-anniversary edition, three hundred and thirty thousand dollars."
With each word, the woman's face paled. Gasps of disbelief filled the air. The realization dawned on some onlookers: a seemingly pitiful girl was adorned in over four hundred thousand dollars worth of luxury goods. Their opinions shifted instantly.
The woman frantically tried to hide her diamond watch, a blatant display of wealth now working against her.
The man then rose, clutching his stomach and appearing sober. He pointed at the woman. "You have no idea how ruthless she is! She's a student from a second-rate university. All her designer goods are gifts from me. Now that she thinks I'm too old, she wants to ditch me! I even left my wife for her! She's a gold digger!"
The crowd fell silent, understanding the truth. They'd pitied the woman, only to discover she was a mistress. Though the man wasn't blameless, his question to the crowd felt audacious.
Seeing the tide turn, the woman fought back, abandoning her previous act. She stood defiantly before the burly man. "It's your fault you abandoned your family! You're the one infatuated with my beauty and wanting to leave your wife! I broke up with you! Stop harassing me, or my new boyfriend won't let you off!" In a burst of anger, she swung at Yvette, but her wrist was caught.
Yvette, expressionless, held the woman's hand and smirked. With a sharp twist, a bone snapped.
Jeremiah's cold gaze fell upon the woman. His voice, steady and chilling, cut through the air. "You want to die?"
The woman shrieked, the burly man froze, and the onlookers were stunned. The woman, ignoring her broken hand, defiantly yelled at Jeremiah. "I'm going to hit that ugly woman! Do you know who my boyfriend is? He'll be here any minute! You'll all regret this!"
Her bravado was unwavering. She’d just texted her new boyfriend, a second-generation heir from the prestigious Betrico estate. He'd arrive within five minutes.
Yvette, casually spinning in her chair, watched with boredom. She unwrapped a candy and said, "Let him come. I'll be waiting."
Jeremiah and Yvette sat at the food stall. Yvette, in a baseball cap, calmly ate the lobster. The woman glared from a distance, the burly man having fled.
Five minutes later, the woman's new boyfriend arrived—Joel, a familiar face. The woman rushed into his arms, reverting to her tearful persona. The onlookers were speechless.
Joel rushed to comfort her. "Sweetheart, what happened? Who dared to bully you?"
The woman pointed at Jeremiah and Yvette, sobbing. "It's them! They bullied me! That woman broke my hand!"
Joel's expression changed dramatically upon recognizing Yvette. He quickly pulled away from the woman, realizing the impossibility of their claim.
The woman was confused by his sudden change.
Joel approached Yvette and Jeremiah, praying for mercy. He vowed to never again associate with women, fearing disastrous consequences.
