Samantha looked at the distraught Amy and said, “I can get you a lawyer from Betrico. He specializes in these types of cases. Don't worry; this jerk doesn't stand a chance once my lawyer steps in. However, you need to understand: accusing Patrick means openly exposing your own wounds. After you report this, the media will definitely cover it, since Patrick is a director at Argrol University. I can introduce you to a great lawyer, but you must be determined. No matter how much gossip you face, you must pursue the lawsuit; otherwise, I can't help you.”
Samantha knew she wasn't a good person, nor did she possess the compassion to meddle in others' affairs. But having encountered this situation, and with Yvette and Andrew willing to help, she couldn't ignore it. The condition, however, was that Amy would not back down; otherwise, even the best lawyer would be useless.
Yvette paused, her face impassive as she put away her phone. Andrew's eyes lit up. He thought, A lawyer specializing in these lawsuits? Who else but Benjamin? If he comes to Seacrity to help Amy, Patrick might lose everything!
Andrew asked, “Samantha, are you talking about Benjamin? You want to ask him to represent Amy?” He was surprised Samantha would intervene. Benjamin, a nationally recognized lawyer on Samantha's company's legal team, had pursued her years ago. They were childhood neighbors, but Samantha never reciprocated his feelings. He eventually joined the Mitchell Group, serving as their chief lawyer for eight years, before planning his departure to start his own firm.
Seeing Andrew's eager expression, Samantha lightly smacked the back of his head. “Yeah, it's him. He's leaving next month but will handle this case beforehand, as a farewell.”
Andrew clicked his tongue, giving Samantha a thumbs-up. He thought, She's a true capitalist. Shameless how she justifies exploitation.
Amy stared, shocked, particularly at Samantha, whose head-to-toe designer attire hinted at an extraordinary life. Amy thought, Is she really going to help me? Has heaven sent someone? Her life had been so dark that she couldn't believe someone would help.
Andrew looked at the stunned Amy and said casually, “What are you standing there for? My sister's asking if you're determined to get this jerk in jail. The lawyer she found is the best in the country for this. You're sure to win.”
Amy wiped her tears and nodded. “Thank you, Ms. Mitchell. I've decided. No matter what, I'll keep fighting. I will make Patrick pay.”
Samantha nodded. Turning to Yvette, she asked, “Should we call the police now, or wait?”
Yvette glanced at Patrick. “No need; he won't die. Let's wait.”
Samantha realized Jeresiah was gone. Andrew looked at Patrick, lying in a pool of blood, wrinkling his nose. Is he dead? he thought. Charles replied, “He's not dead. The stab didn't hit a vital part. He can bleed for three more hours.”
Amy calmed down, tidied her clothes, and bowed deeply. “Thank you, Yvette, Mr. Mitchell, Ms. Mitchell, and this gentleman.”
Andrew waved dismissively. “Just helping out.”
Amy bowed again. “Thank you, Yvette.”
Yvette's gaze was cold and indifferent. “There’s no need; I didn’t really do anything.” Amy knew, however, that Samantha's decision was because of Yvette.
Ten minutes later, Jeremiah opened the door, revealing Simon, the president of Argrol University, behind him. Simon's face was grave; he knew what had happened. Patrick's actions were appalling, unprecedented in Argrol University's history. Simon knew the news would spread rapidly.
Jeremiah said to Yvette, “He called the police himself.”
Yvette met Simon's gaze. He nodded at her, then turned to Amy, ignoring Patrick.
Amy, standing near Simon, feared he would silence her, blame her, or threaten her graduation. Her nerves flared. She nervously raised her head.
Noticing her nervousness, Simon made a calming gesture. “Amy, I know everything. Rest assured, the school will not cover for Patrick. I have personally called the police. The school will fully support you, including all legal fees. I understand this can't make up for your suffering, and I'm truly sorry.”
Hearing this, Amy burst into tears.
