Yvette curled her lips, her gaze fierce and wild as she watched the men rush toward her, wielding various weapons. Her tone to Jeremiah was light and slow. "The game has begun."
A hulking man charged at Yvette. Holden wore a sinister smile, pleased by what he perceived as the inevitable outcome: a burly man against a young woman. However, Yvette moved so swiftly that her actions were imperceptible. Before Holden and the others could react, the brute lay under her boot.
With a resounding snap, she broke his leg. A cold, wicked smile curled Yvette's lips as she looked down at him. "You thought I'd be easy to handle?"
The man cried out, spitting obscenities. "You...bitch..." Before he could finish, Jeremiah, having just subdued another opponent, heard the insult. Icy rage sparked in his eyes. He took a single stride and delivered a brutal kick, shattering the man's genitals. The horrifying sight froze everyone, sending a chill down their spines.
Charles, after dispatching his own opponent, raised an eyebrow. 'Jeremiah's picking up this trick now? No surprise, being Yvonne's man, he's just as ruthless,' he mused.
Holden screamed, "Get them! Kill them all! Whoever kills them gets an extra 150 thousand dollars next month!"
This incentive unleashed the guards' fury. They charged at Yvette and Jeremiah in waves, but most focused on the pair, leaving Charles to face fewer opponents. The courtyard descended into chaos.
Yvette kicked the man at her feet, grabbed a swinging club, and sent her attacker flying with a powerful kick, crashing him into several others. She then wielded the club, swinging it at the nearest attacker, who coughed up blood and collapsed. Another man lunged, but Yvette jabbed him in the stomach with the club, following with a kick that sent him sprawling.
Eventually, Yvette discarded the club and fought barehanded. Despite their size, the men fell helplessly under her blows. Jeremiah was equally relentless. Soon, the courtyard was littered with groaning men. Only Holden and Gideon remained, watching in shock.
Yvette's impassive expression remained as she effortlessly kicked another man away.
Bang! Crash!
Finally, Jeremiah flung the last Jacobs guard into a cactus patch, where he screamed and passed out. Charles and Winnie watched, Winnie's mouth agape. She’d never seen a woman like Yvette before, feeling a newfound admiration. 'So there really are women this strong,' Winnie thought, awestruck.
Charles had barely fought. Yvette and Jeremiah coordinated seamlessly. Bored, he almost plucked flowers from a nearby pot.
Checking his watch, Charles said, "Yvette, Jeremiah, it's time."
Yvette and Jeremiah exchanged a glance before returning to the entrance. Charles and Winnie followed, leaving Holden and his men bewildered.
In the darkness, Dungo Village was jolted awake by a massive explosion. Lights flickered on, and the quiet village burst into life.
"What happened? That was so loud! It seemed to come from Holden's residence."
A pale man reassured his wife, "I'll go check. You stay here."
Across the village, people hurried to dress, murmuring. Bonnie's eyes snapped open. She guessed Yvette had acted. She dressed, cautiously opened her door, saw the sleeping guard, and silently headed toward Holden's residence.
Villagers gathered outside Holden's house, but no one dared enter. They waited anxiously. Seeing the crowd, Bonnie slipped inside.
As Yvette and the others reached the doorway, a deafening explosion rocked the study. Tiles flew, windows shattered, and a wave of heat scattered everyone. Holden and Gideon were knocked down. Gideon lay unconscious.
Holden and his men stared in shock at the collapsed room, then at Yvette's group. Holden scrambled up, shouting, "Quick, find it! Search for the box!"
The air was thick with smoke and the stench of burning. Holden's face was ashen; everything was lost. Nearly ten years of work cultivating poisonous insects was destroyed.
His expression twisted in despair as he yelled, "Give me back my poisonous insects! Those were my life's work, you thieves! You'll all die miserable deaths!"
Charles couldn't believe Holden's shamelessness. 'He actually has the gall to call those poisonous insects his hard-earned work?' Charles thought, shaking his head. 'Those insects were bred at the cost of countless lives. What a monster!'
Yvette calmly strolled to Holden, ignoring his glare. Grabbing him by the neck, she slammed his head against the ground. Blood spurted. He touched his forehead, disbelieving. "You...you actually dared to hit me..."
Before he could finish, Yvette slammed his head down again, harder. Blood poured out. She released her grip, wiped her hand, and asked, "Tell me. What do you think it feels like to have your heart eaten away bit by bit by those insects you raised?"
With an angel's face and a devil's ruthlessness, Yvette embodied both beauty and terror in Holden's eyes. He flinched but sneered, "So what if you know about poisonous insects? Don't try to scare me. Generations of Dungo Village have bred these insects. They'd never obey a stranger like you."
