In the east yard of the Jacobs residence, Sheldon lay in bed, hearing explosions outside. Panic seized him, but his body remained unresponsive. He felt nothing in his lower half and could only scream in desperation. He yelled for what felt like an eternity, but no maid came to his aid.
Furious, he hurled a bedside vase to the floor, shattering it. Finally, the door creaked open. Sheldon's heart leaped, but his hope quickly faded as he saw Janice, who had just fled the chaos outside.
Janice pushed open the door and approached the bed. Sheldon glared at her cautious demeanor and snapped, "What are you doing here? Who let you in? What's going on outside?"
Janice studied him. His genuine bewilderment prompted her to take a few steps closer, her voice a whisper, "Youโฆ you're not getting up? Don't you know what's happening outside?"
Sheldon glared. If he could move, he would have slapped her. Janice comes all the way here in the middle of the night to ask me these stupid questions? he thought. He growled, "Spit it out. What's happening outside?"
Janice confirmed Sheldon knew nothing of his father's death or the villagers' apprehension. She noted his paralysis. A sinister smile touched her lips as an idea formed. She had already made an enemy of Yvette, and simply leaving wouldn't do. Yvette's willingness to risk coming to Dungo Village for Bonnie indicated a deep affection. If that's the case, then I won't hold back. Bonnie's the softest-hearted oneโฆ Janice mused.
Startled by Janice's smile, Sheldon barked, "What are you doing now?"
Janice's gaze fixed on him, her eyes deep and chilling. With malice, she said, "Sheldon, the Jacobs family is finished. Your father is dead, and the entire Dungo Village has been taken by the police. I guess you're too injured to move, huh?"
A shiver ran down Sheldon's spine at the crazed look in her eyes. Summoning his strength, he shouted, "Janice, stop making things up! Who could have killed my father?"
Deep down, Sheldon was uncertain. If nothing happened to Dad, why hasn't anyone come to check on me? Fear began to gnaw at him.
Janice sneered. "Sheldon, if you weren't injured, you'd have slapped me by now. Looks like you're seriously hurt. It's about time, you bastard. You raped me when I was a minor, and now it's time for you to pay."
Propped on his elbows, Sheldon cursed, "Janice, you seduced me first! Besides, after we slept together, didn't you ask me for 300 dollars? Now you're saying all this?"
Bonnie's voice called from outside, "Yvette, Jeremiah, is Sheldon here?"
Janice's heart hardened. She produced a knife, shouted, "Help!" and lunged at Sheldon, stabbing him in the heart.
Blood splattered her face. Sheldon gasped, "Youโฆ" before dying.
Janice's smile widened as she heard approaching footsteps. She discarded the knife, collapsing onto the floor, feigning terror. "Help! Help! Don't come in!"
Hearing Janice's screams, Bonnie burst in, followed by Yvette, Jeremiah, and Samantha. Bonnie cried out, seeing the scene. She rushed to Janice's side. "Janice, what's wrong? What happened? Sheldon's dead!"
Trembling, Janice clung to Bonnie. "Iโฆ Sheldon tried to hit me. I just grabbed something in self-defense, but he accidentally stabbed himself. It has nothing to do with me! Please, believe me, Bon."
She watched Yvette and the others, gauging their reactions. Jeremiah's charisma momentarily distracted her, but Yvette's cold gaze caused a flicker of unease.
Yvette briefly looked at the knife before casually regarding Janice's pitiful display. Her expression was chillingly resolute.
Jeremiah stepped forward, taking Yvette's hand. "Given the depth of the wound, this wasn't an accident. It was intentional."
Yvette pressed her lips together, a faint, cold smile playing on her lips as her eyes locked onto Janice.
Andrew, having heard from Bonnie about her sister, stepped forward. "Janice, Sheldon is a person who deserved to die. Don't be afraid."
Janice's heart leaped at Andrew's direct address. She feigned modesty. "Sir, thank you. You must be Andrew, the friend Bonnie talks about. Thank you for taking care of her. I'm sure Bonnie must have caused you quite a bit of trouble."
Bonnie, unaware of Andrew and her dating, found this unremarkable.
Andrew sensed something was amiss. Why does this sound so strange? He replied politely, "I'm happy to take care of Bonnie. We're actually in a relationship now."
Janice's face fell. How could this be? Just days ago, Bonnie said they were just friends. She lied to me, she thought.
Feigning contentment, she forced a smile. "Mr. Mitchell, Bonnie is lucky to have you as her boyfriend," she said, pausing. "Butโฆ Bonnie, have you resolved things with Xavian yet? I could annul the engagement if you'd like."
Bonnie, touched, shook her head. She recounted the events.
Janice feigned shock. She sighed. "Holden really did something heinousโฆ. It's truly awful. Bonnie, I had no idea."
Bonnie, believing Janice, reassured her. "I believe you, Janice."
Janice thought smugly, This fool believes everything I say.
Emmett spoke coldly, "Let's leave. We can discuss this later."
Janice, feigning surprise, pointed at Yvette. "It's you."
Bonnie asked, "Janice, do you know Yvette? Have you met before?"
Samantha, Andrew, Charles, and Emmett stared at Yvette, exchanging confused looks. What's going on? Janice and Yvette have met? they wondered.
