Listen to this chapter:

Janice curled her lip, placing the lotion on the table with a disgusted sigh. "Bon," she muttered, "I'm not trying to be harsh, but Andrew looks loaded."

She continued, "If you're short on money, why not ask him? He wouldn't be stingy, would he?" Janice was testing the depth of Bonnie's relationship with Andrew.

Bonnie looked at Janice, sensing a change in her friend. She dismissed it as casual curiosity.

"Janice," Bonnie replied, "just because I'm dating Andrew doesn't mean I need his money. I have a scholarship and a part-time job. It's enough."

Bonnie's self-satisfied air infuriated Janice. What an idiot! she thought. Attending a top school and not latching onto a wealthy man—burying herself in books and working part-time—is this really living?

Janice knew Bonnie wasn't lying. While Bonnie fetched water, Janice had peeked into her wardrobe: cheap clothes from street stalls, no designer labels, and a minimal makeup collection.

Janice couldn't comprehend it. Yvette, Andrew, and Jeremiah owned private jets; they were incredibly wealthy. Has Bonnie lost her mind? she wondered. Choosing this tough life? She's crazy!

Janice mused, How can I afford a mansion and a luxury car on my own? With friends like that, I'd certainly take advantage.

Janice watched Bonnie packing, offering no help. She had hoped to use Bonnie to connect with Yvette and her circle, but that was clearly not happening. However, she was deeply in love with Andrew and unwilling to give up.

Even if Bonnie married into wealth, it would be pointless, Janice thought. With her simple mind, how could she navigate high society? I would be far better suited!

That evening, Bonnie finished tidying their dorm, leaving it spotless. Exhausted, her back ached. Janice, meanwhile, slept soundly on the bed until Bonnie returned with dinner.

Bonnie had carefully packed four dishes and soup in a thermal container from the cafeteria.

Janice wrinkled her nose. "Bon, is this really cafeteria food?"

Bonnie nodded, putting on her coat. "Janice, try it; it's delicious. Eat first, I'm going to see Yvette. I might be late."

At the mention of Yvette, Janice's expression changed. She sneered sarcastically, "Bon, be cautious around Ms. Zeller. She's not ordinary. Be careful, you might get tricked."

Bonnie stopped, turning to look at Janice with a scrutinizing gaze. Her face grew serious. "Janice, stop it. Yvette isn't who you think she is. You don't know her well, and it's wrong to defame her."

Janice, stunned by Bonnie's firmness, froze. Before she could reply, Bonnie left. Janice felt a wave of panic, as if something precious was slipping away.

At Jeremiah's villa, Yvette, Samantha, and Charles prepared steak. Andrew picked up a piece of meat, sighed despondently.

Emmett poured juice. "Why the sigh? Doesn't the steak taste good?"

Everyone looked at Andrew. Yvette, texting Jeremiah, looked up casually. "Bonnie will be here in five minutes."

Andrew perked up instantly. Even the steak tasted better with his girlfriend. "Yvette always knows what I'm thinking," he exclaimed. "A true expert!"

Emmett was speechless; Charles shook his head. Samantha looked at Andrew with disdain. "Sorry, everyone, it's his first relationship. Bear with him."

The doorbell rang. Andrew rushed to open it, beaming at Bonnie's arrival. "Bon, you're here!"

Bonnie forced a smile, troubled by Janice's words. After greeting Yvette and the others, she sat down. Yvette, raising an eyebrow, said coolly, "Have a seat."

Samantha eagerly pulled Bonnie beside her, calling her "little sister-in-law." By the end of the meal, Bonnie was blushing. Andrew watched, gritting his teeth. Seriously, his rival is his sister?

They played Werewolf; Andrew quit after five rounds, finding Yvette's perfect accuracy boring.

On the balcony, Bonnie gazed at the moon, heavy-hearted. Grandma was gone, and Janice felt distant. Am I overthinking? she wondered.

Yvette approached with warm milk Andrew had prepared. She said blankly, "Andrew warmed this for you."

Bonnie drank the milk quietly. Yvette remained, rocking in a chair. Bonnie asked softly, "Yvette, do you think people really change?"

Yvette's cold eyes glinted. "The human heart is unreliable. People change, or maybe they never did. You're just seeing it clearly now."

Bonnie was startled. "Yvette, you're right."

The next day, news broke that Argrol University, in collaboration with Seacrity's government and a $70 million anonymous donation, had established a Women's Protection Association. The donor's identity remained a mystery, sparking societal discussion on sexual assault and prompting authorities to act.
