Listen to this chapter:

Yvette ignored Benโ€™s frantic pleas. Tilting her head slightly, she calmly told Bonnie, โ€œOpen the door.โ€ Bonnie nodded, retrieving the key. With a swift movement, she unlocked it; the door creaked open.

As soon as Ben saw the opening, he scrambled out, fear propelling his panicked escape. He couldn't bear to remain in that terrifying place, convinced Yvette was the most dangerous person he'd ever encountered.

However, at the doorway, he collided with Zachary Chambers and a group of bodyguards. They instantly went on alert, one delivering a punch that sent Ben sprawling.

Scrambling to his feet and seeing Zachary, Ben believed heโ€™d found a savior. โ€œHelp, Mr. Chambers! There are two murderers in there! You need to call the police!โ€ he cried.

Unexpectedly, Zachary ignored him, his gaze drifting past Ben to Yvette. A flicker of recognition shone in his eyes.

Consumed by fear, Ben missed the excitement in Zachary's expression. He continued shouting for help.

Without a word, Zachary bypassed Ben and approached Yvette, completely ignoring both Ben's pleas and the injured Janice on the floor.

Lucas frowned at Janice. He thought, It seems Ms. Zeller did this. What provoked her? It must have been serious; otherwise, Ms. Zeller wouldn't have been so ruthless.

Zachary reached Yvette and Bonnie, a smile playing on his lips. โ€œWhat brings you to Starlight Plaza, Yvette? Is there anything youโ€™d like? Everything here is ours; if you like it, we can have it delivered.โ€

Lucas barely suppressed a sigh. Zachary seemed so enthralled by Yvetteโ€™s presence that he hadn't noticed the woman on the floor.

Stepping forward, Lucas lowered his voice. โ€œHow should we handle the woman and the agitated man, Ms. Zeller?โ€

Only then did Zachary seem to notice Janice, showing little surprise. Yvette's actions were apparently unremarkable to him.

Yvette, hands in her pockets, replied casually, โ€œSend the one on the floor to the police station. Zane will know what to do. As for the man, do as you wish.โ€ Her words sealed their fates.

Lucas nodded respectfully. โ€œUnderstood, Ms. Zeller. Iโ€™ll handle it immediately.โ€

Ben froze, hearing Lucas address Yvette as โ€œMs. Zeller.โ€ His eyes widened, his lips trembling, speechless. He thought, Zacharyโ€™s butler shows great respect for this woman. Wait, she must be the Chambers familyโ€™s long-lost daughter.

Rumors among Seacrity's elite flooded Ben's mind. It was said Zachary, in memory of his first wife, had his returned daughter take her mother's surname. Ben hadn't believed it, but now it seemed true.

Watching the smiling Zachary and impassive Yvette, Ben lowered his head.

The Chambers' bodyguards swiftly removed Janice and Ben.

Yvette turned to Bonnie. โ€œGo change. Andrew is waiting outside.โ€

Bonnie, momentarily distracted by Janice's removal, snapped back to attention. โ€œOkay, Iโ€™ll be right back, Yve. You can chat with Mr. Chambers.โ€ She politely bowed to Zachary, affecting a sweet demeanor.

Zachary, having seen Bonnie before, noticed Yvette's interaction and felt a pang of jealousy. Their vastly different personalities made their friendship surprising.

He sighed. โ€œShe doesnโ€™t seem like someone whoโ€™d be your friend.โ€

Yvette calmly squeezed her fingers, raising an eyebrow. Her gaze was gentle, her tone cool. โ€œSheโ€™s stronger and more decisive than you think.โ€

Someone raised as the special woman of a centuries-old village wouldn't have an ordinary temperament. Yvette hadnโ€™t interfered much in Janiceโ€™s situation, wanting Bonnie to see those around her clearly.

Lucas, now an admirer of Yvette, trusted her judgment. He believed her assessment of people was impeccable. He thought of Zoe: Ms. Zeller is so perceptive. Who would have guessed someone with Zoe's physical limitations would be so talented in design and finance? She's brought immense profit to the Chambers Group in a short time.

If Ms. Zeller hadnโ€™t seen her potential, Zoe would have been overlooked. That would have been a huge loss. She's bound to become one of their best employees.

Zachary knew Yvette planned to dine out and insisted on joining them.

Yvette, with a sigh, reluctantly agreed.

Fortunately, the meal was enjoyable. Andrew's cheerful disposition even amused Zachary. They hit it off so well that Zachary proposed adopting Andrew as his godson, an offer readily accepted.

Andrew thought, Who wouldnโ€™t want a rich father? Heโ€™s the head of Seacrityโ€™s most prominent family, future father-in-law of Jeremiah, and Yvetteโ€™s real father.

Lucas watched them drink, thinking, How could someone so closely connected to Jeremiah be poor? But what if Andrew's father disapproves?

The next day, hearing the news, Tim simply said, โ€œAndrewโ€™s stepped into some serious luck.โ€ It was indeed remarkable luck; Zachary's wealth was akin to royalty.

Zachary remained unaware of his elevated status, which was only likely to increase.

The next day, Zane called Yvette. โ€œMs. Zeller, Janiceโ€™s file was urgently transferred from Normis last night. Besides the hunter case you mentioned, sheโ€™s linked to an incident in her village where someone was tortured to death. A villager testified to seeing her and Sheldon beating a girl, who later drowned. This needs further verification, but I'll personally handle it. If Janice is responsible, she'll face the full force of the law.โ€

Zane had rushed to the station after Yvette's call. He had much work, but he didn't mind; his goal as a police officer was to serve his country, not sit idly by.
