Jeremiah tilted his head, glancing at Yvette, whose expression remained indifferent. A cold smile played on his lips. "When are you going to join the military? Help me train some new recruits!"
Yvette slightly raised her eyes, a hint of defiance and mischief in her gaze. "It will cost you dearly," she replied casually. She wasn't boasting. When Damian had requested her to train the Seventy-Two Chambers for the Goodman family, the gold he offered could have filled a room, yet she'd refused. Damian had ultimately offered a life debt in exchange, prompting her agreement.
Jeremiah gently squeezed her hand, his long fingers tapping her palm, his breath warm against her skin. "You said I'm priceless, so I'll give myself to you as payment."
Yvette, accustomed to his jokes, deepened her gaze. "You already belong to me," she stated, her voice cool and commanding.
Samantha, unfamiliar with the Goodman family and the Seventy-Two Chambers, sensed their formidable nature from their expressions. Joe's words hinted at Yvette's personal involvement in their training.
Hesitantly, Samantha asked, "What exactly is the Seventy-Two Chambers?"
Emmett subtly glanced at Yvette, sitting on the couch, before clearing his throat. "The Goodman family leads Mysonna's underworld gangs—the undisputed kings. The Seventy-Two Chambers is their ultimate trump card, solidifying their dominance," he explained. "It comprises roughly one hundred members, feared throughout Mysonna. And their instructor..." He paused, then continued, "...is Yvette, known in the underworld as 'Deadlock.'"
"It's said that anyone she trains reaches peak physical ability. Few survive—only about one in a thousand. This explains the Chambers' sweeping dominance of Mysonna's underworld gangs." Despite his efforts to conceal it, Emmett's slightly trembling voice betrayed his inner turmoil. He thought, If, as Joe said, the Seventy-Two Chambers is under Yvette's command, she can deploy them at will. With the Chambers and her own strength, dominating Mysonna's underworld is only a matter of time. Emmett felt a surge of excitement, surprised by Yvette's true power.
The Seventy-Two Chambers had emerged seven years prior, when Yvette was a teenager. The most alarming aspect was this young girl's ability to forge such a fearsome force. And it wasn't impossible for her to train an even stronger team now.
Eagle King glanced at Charles, then asked, "You're the General Master of the Seventy-Two Chambers and Braydon's most outstanding subordinate, correct?" Based on Joe's earlier statement, Yvette's identity, and Mysonna's underworld rumors, Charles's role was now clear to everyone.
Charles's expression darkened under Eagle King's knowing gaze. He hadn't expected this revelation. He nodded. "Yes, it's me."
Emmett stared at Charles in shock. Damn, I never knew Charles had such a background. "The General Master is considered the king of Mysonna's underworld—a longtime associate of the Goodman family, with a well-known reputation." Charles had remained quietly amongst them, his true identity unsuspected.
Samantha swallowed hard, stunned by Yvette's dual identity as Deadlock and Charles's position as General Master.
Joe realized his slip-up. After a moment's silence, however, he perked up, seeing the discussion. "I said we're all on the same side, so no need to be surprised. Whatever Yve does is normal, right?"
Jeremiah shot Joe a stern look. "Yve?" he said, his voice low.
Joe immediately mimed zipping his lips, looking pitiful. "I've called her that for seven years," he muttered.
Yvette stood, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Go call your grandfather and have him take you home," she calmly instructed.
Joe nodded eagerly, his face ingratiating. "Can you help? Just call Grandpa for me? If he learns the Storm Wind targeted me, he'll beat me!"
Yvette remained impassive. "Do it yourself."
Reluctantly, Joe picked up the phone, his head bowed in defeat, anticipating a scolding.
Samantha and Emmett exchanged glances, their feelings mixed as they looked at Yvette. The revelation of her being Deadlock was overwhelming.
Eagle King observed them with a knowing expression. If they knew she was also number one on the Black Gold Rankings, they'd be even more shocked!
"I truly respect you, boss," Eagle King said. "Seriously, are you even human?"
Yvette turned to him, raising an eyebrow. A teasing smile touched her lips. "What do you mean?"
Eagle King recoiled. "Oh, sorry. I got carried away. I mean..."
Samantha smiled slyly. "Eagle King meant you're not human, Yvette."
Emmett calmly added, "We heard him say you're not human, Yvette."
Eagle King trembled, pointing at them. "What the hell? You're kicking me while I'm down? You have no shame!"
Laughter filled the room. Outside, Joe listened to his grandfather's furious shouting. "How could you be so careless, letting the Storm Wind scheme against you? Where are you? What have they done? Are you safe? How did I end up with such a stupid grandson?"
Joe scratched his ear. "Grandpa, please stop shouting. I messed up. The Storm Wind sold me to Voraxia."
Carl sounded surprised. "Voraxia?"
Joe worried about a heart attack. "Don't worry. The Storm Wind didn't expect this, but I turned my misfortune into a blessing. I met Yve! She saved me, and I'm with her. You can relax."
Carl's anxiety increased at Yvette's name. After a pause, he said, his voice heavy, "You met Yve? You're lucky. Tell me everything."
Joe recounted the past few days' events, including the present situation.
Finally, Carl responded, his tone resolute. "Give me the address. Voraxia isn't safe, but as long as you're with Yvette, you should be fine. I'll send someone tomorrow. Until then, stay close to Yvette, understand?"
