Listen to this chapter:

Rory gave a sinister smile, then produced a small bottle from her jacket and removed the cap. Instantly, a poisonous insect, almost identical to those seen in Dungo Village, emerged.

She addressed the insect coldly: โ€œGo, suck this woman's blood dry.โ€

As if understanding, the insect took flight toward Yvette. Jeremiah watched, his gaze unwavering, devoid of panic. The events in Dungo Village were fresh in his memory, and though he didn't understand Yvette's lack of fear, he was certain the insect posed no threat to her.

Just as Rory anticipated Yvette's demise, the unexpected occurred. The insect flew before Yvette, beating its wings frantically. After circling her several times, it plummeted to the ground, landing heavily and lying motionless, its tiny eyes wide open.

Rory was utterly stunned. "Howโ€ฆ how is this possible? Why didn't it drain your blood? This can't be true," she stammered.

Rory appeared completely shaken, her mind reeling. Not only she, but everyone released from captivity behind her was frozen, staring in shock. Just days prior, this same insect had drained the blood of a man before their very eyes, reducing him to skin and bones in minutes.

Yvette raised an eyebrow, her gaze cool and aloof. She glanced at the insect feigning death, rubbing her forehead, speechless. The insect's terror stemmed from its identity: the poisonous insect king she had brought from Dungo Village. It resided in a small, transparent bottle she carried, its needs minimal. Yvette had casually fed it junk food the previous day, which it had devoured with relish. It seemed no one could resist junk food.

Yvette ignored Rory, her gaze sweeping over the dozens of released individuals, each appearing twisted and unsettling. Indifferently, she stated, "These are the people who sold you here. Now, you can do whatever you want with them."

The released men and women remained frozen, numb. No one moved. Charles, Eagle King, Emmett, and Samantha approached Yvette and Jeremiah.

Eagle King glanced at Rory's horrific face, muttering, "Rory is a pure demon. Even if these people survive, the damage is irreversible. They won't live long." Rory had sent countless people to Dungo Village; thousands had likely perished there.

Suddenly, Rory burst into wild laughter, which quickly dissolved into tears. "Don't you want to know why a beautiful girl like me became so hideous, someone who can kill without blinking an eye, Yvette?"

Rory knew escape was impossible. She had accepted her fate but would never admit wrongdoing.

Yvette lifted her gaze and kicked the "dead" insect. An imperceptible smile played on her lips. "I'm not curious at all."

Samantha stifled laughter. She thought, Honestly, sometimes Yvette's words are harsh, but she doesn't realize it. She always manages to infuriate her enemies without trying.

Emmett, Eagle King, and Charles exchanged a glance. Yep, this is the Yvette we knowโ€”tough, concise, and always intimidating.

Rory's face flushed crimson, her eyes bloodshot. She insisted on telling Yvette the truth, knowing this might be her only chance.

Wiping away tears, Rory hissed, "Ten years ago, I was a naive girl. I fell in love with a man who promised to take me away, to give me a better life."

"I believed him. To be with him, I left my parents and followed him to Voraxia, foolishly believing he would bring me happiness."

Samantha sneered. It's the same tired old story. What kind of person who truly loved you would ask you to abandon your family and run away to live an illegitimate life? Honestly, someone should stop girls from watching so many dramas.

Yvette remained neutral as Rory, her face contorted with anger, lost herself in her memories.

Rory continued, oblivious to the reactions around her. "After arriving in Voraxia, he worked hard. For a while, I thought I was living my dream. However, he started coming home late, always smelling of another woman's perfume."

"I knew he was having an affair. I followed him and found him with a gang leader's woman. I thought if I tolerated it, he'd return to me."

Rory's voice became frantic, her hands clawing at the ground. "But then, he became addicted to gambling. He lost everything. To pay his debts, he sold me to a drug dealer. I resisted, but powerless, without my phone or contact with my family, I had no choice. He beat me. To survive, I became the mistress of the local drug dealer, a woman everyone could abuse."

Neither Yvette nor Samantha empathized. Though women themselves, they recognized that from the moment Rory chose to run away, everything that followed was karma.

Rory sat up, her eyes fixed on Yvette, searching for sympathy, only to find disappointment.

Rory continued, "In Voraxia, where human life is worthless, women have no rights. I managed to stand out among many women and became the drug dealer's favored mistress."

Emmett, Eagle King, and the others thought, Stand out? More like she probably used countless underhanded methods.

Rory touched her scarred face, her voice trembling. "I slowly gained power. Once I had it, the first thing I did was capture him. I sliced the flesh from his body piece by piece and fed it to the dogs. That's when I knew I would never go back."
