Chapter 49

Natalie followed Elysia's gaze and immediately spotted the security camera at the auditorium entrance, frowning. She thought, "What is Elysia trying to say? Didn't the camera footage make it easier to prove she attacked Mia? Is she stupid!"

Ava also didn't understand Elysia's actions. By doing this, Elysia was practically handing them the evidence. However, Ava trusted her—there had to be a reason.

Mia, however, couldn't help but laugh. She hadn't expected Elysia to be so stupid, offering the evidence herself. She thought, Could it be that she heard we were planning to report the incident to the student union and got scared?

Mia was smirking, but Elysia slowly explained. "The footage will show that Mia made the first move. I was just defending myself."

Everyone was taken aback. They had all assumed Elysia was spouting nonsense, thinking she was frightened. However, hearing her true intention, they finally understood.

Mia didn't believe Elysia. She thought, Did Elysia really think that a single video could prove I started it? I was the one hurt most, while Elysia came out unscathed!

Mu immediately interjected, "Just a video, huh? Do you really think that's self-defense? I never even touched you."

Elysia said, "I don't care what you say, just report it. If the student union can't figure it out, we'll take it to the police station!"

Ava was even more in awe of Elysia; her confidence instantly silenced the others.

Emma was about to speak when a cold voice rang out from behind them.

"No need to go to the police station. This can be cleared up in the student union." Everyone turned to see Elena walking over.

Mia's eyes lit up as if she'd seen her savior. She thought Elena must be there to back them up, having seen the footage of Elysia kicking her.

Elena was known for being fair, so Mu thought Elysia couldn't escape.

However, Emma was worried. After all, during their afternoon tea, Elena had sided with Elysia. She wasn't sure if that would happen again. She reconsidered, thinking that with so many witnesses, Elena probably wouldn't be biased.

"You have to bring us justice!" Mia pointed at Elysia and cried, "She kicked me! Everyone saw it!"

Elena raised an eyebrow. "Why did she kick you?"

Mia said, "I said a few things, and she got upset."

"Is that true?" Elena turned to the group behind her.

"They were already arguing," someone said. "We know nothing, Elena."

Ava, anxious that Elena wouldn't believe them, quickly spoke up, "You can't believe them! Mu started it by provoking Elysia and even tried to get physical. Elysia only kicked her to protect herself!"

"You tell us," Elena said, turning to a girl behind her.

The girl pointed at Mia. "I saw it. She made the first move."

"You're lying!" Mia shouted.

"Who do you all think made the first move?" Elena's gaze swept over the crowd, her eyes frosty.

Everyone silently weighed their options.

Elena said, "Don't forget the security camera is right there."

Someone immediately said, "It was Mia who made the first move."

"Did you hear that?" Elena raised an eyebrow, looking at Mia.

Mia trembled. She hadn't expected Elena to side with Elysia. "This is unfair!" she shouted.

"In what way?" Elena asked.

"You're clearly helping Elysia!" Mia yelled.

The onlookers were shocked. How dare she talk back to Elena! She clearly doesn't know her place! they thought.

Elena said, "The evidence is right here, and I'm not favoring anyone. If you hadn't provoked Elysia first, this wouldn't have happened. Or do you want to go to the police station?"

Emma quickly spoke up, "Mia already knows she was wrong, Elena. There's no need to call the police."

Natalie agreed. "Emma's right. Mia knows she was wrong."

Elena glanced at them sharply. "Does she need you to speak for her?"

Ava watched the tense faces and thought, See? This is what happens when you make trouble. Elena is still on our side!

"Mia, a wise person knows when to back down. Just admit your mistake," Emma whispered.

"Yeah, you don't want to end up at the police station. Besides, Elena clearly isn't on our side," Natalie murmured.

Caught between the pressure, Mia sighed. She had no choice but to show weakness. "It's my fault, Elena."

"And?" Elena said.

Mia was confused. Before she could ask, Elena continued, "Didn't your parents teach you that when you're wrong, you should apologize?"

The word "apologize" made Mia's lips twitch. She'd never had to apologize.

However, Elena wanted her to apologize to Elysia. Mia thought, Why? Does Elysia even deserve an apology?

Mia bit her lip, feeling humiliated.

Although Emma didn't want Mia to apologize in front of everyone, seeing Elena's cold expression, she had to persuade Mia.

The Milton School student union was powerful, its authority second only to the principal. Elena, as president, stood above all students. Not everyone could afford to offend her. Angering her could make academy life difficult.

Emma looked at the pouting Mia and sighed. She whispered, "Mia, you should apologize. Elena is the president."

Mia looked at Emma, then at Natalie, who patted her back. "We'll have plenty of chances to deal with Elysia later, but offending Elena will be worse."

They were right. Elena was not to be crossed. Mia, though disappointed with Emma and Natalie's earlier actions, had to admit they were right. She reluctantly apologized to Elena.
