Chapter 52

When Robert saw Elysia, his good mood vanished instantly. He asked, "Why did you treat Emma like that?"

Elysia replied, "What do you mean? I think I've been quite kind."

Robert exclaimed, "What about what happened in the auditorium today? Don't you have a clue?"

Elysia said, "You're talking about that? They should be thanking me. I didn't let Mia get arrested."

Hearing this, Robert's anger surged. No matter how polite and well-mannered he usually was, he couldn't keep his cool. He looked at Elysia, his eyes wide with fury. He asked, "What about the luxury car? How do you explain that?"

"Luxury car?" Elysia looked puzzled. She had no idea what Robert was talking about.

Robert said, "Are you pretending to be clueless? The car that brought you back last night—you can't have forgotten it."

Elysia finally realized what Robert was talking about. She thought, Emma must have seen Zane drop me off last night. She really loves to gossip. She then looked at Robert and said, "Of course, I remember."

Hearing this, Robert sneered, "I didn't expect you to be so shameless. No wonder you rejected the marriage with me. You hooked up with a rich guy."

Elysia asked, "Did Emma tell you that?"

Robert replied, "She's your sister."

Elysia looked at his furious expression and smirked, saying, "Why are you so angry? If I hooked up with a rich guy, wouldn't that just suit your plans to marry Emma as your fiancée?"

Robert said, "You really are shameless."

Elysia replied, "Whether I'm shameless or not, what does it have to do with you? As a man, shouldn't you think it's ungentlemanly to interfere in the little spats between girls?"

Robert was left speechless. Indeed, he shouldn't have meddled so much. But Emma had been wronged, and he just couldn't stay calm. Moreover, Elysia had rejected the engagement so ruthlessly, and he still hadn't gotten over it. But now, hearing Elysia's words, he was momentarily at a loss for how to respond.

"If you have no other business, you're free to leave," Elysia said, then turned and walked straight into the classroom.

Robert watched the direction Elysia left, stunned for a while.

At the Rosewood residence, Scott had just hung up the phone with James, and his veins were bulging with anger. He thought, Elysia has caused trouble again. She really couldn't stay out of mischief for two days. If I had known she is like this, I shouldn't have brought her back in the first place.

Seeing the call from Scott, Elysia frowned slightly. She thought, If I guess right, it must have something to do with Mia.

As soon as she answered the call, Scott's voice came through, shouting, "Elysia, what's going on with you today?"

Elysia's tone was not at all flustered. She was used to this kind of thing. She replied, "I'm at school right now. If you shout like that, aren't you afraid my classmates will hear? If word gets out about your violent temper, it won't be good for your reputation."

Hearing this, Scott forced down his anger. He said, "I'm giving you thirty minutes to get home right now!" With that, he hung up the phone. Elysia frowned. She thought, Does he think I will listen to him? Ridiculous.

Ava vaguely heard the phone conversation and was worried. She asked, "Elysia, are you okay?"

Elysia replied, "I'm fine."

Scott waited at home for a whole afternoon, but Elysia never came home. His anger grew even more intense. He thought, Elysia is really getting out of hand!

Chapter 52 (Continued)

When Finina came back to the Rosewood residence, she saw Scott sitting in the living room alone with a dark face. She was puzzled and looked at Bella, hoping to get some information.

Bella gave Emma a meaningful look, then got up and pulled Emma aside, still speaking in her gentle tone, "You are back. Are you tired from studying today?"

Before Emma could reply, she saw Scott look at her.

With a strong voice, Scott asked, "Emma, you're closest to Mia. Tell me, what did Elysia do to Mia today?"

Hearing this, Emma instantly understood the Smith family must have told Scott about today's incident. She looked at Scott, hesitating to speak. "Dad, it's because"

Scott asked, "Because of what?" He frowned and said, "Don't cover for Elysia, just tell the truth."

This was exactly what Emma wanted. If she revealed the truth directly, Scott wouldn't easily believe her. But if she hesitated, Scott would be convinced that this was the truth. Then she could easily frame Elysia.

Emma said, "Because Mia said a few things that Elysia didn't like to hear. Elysia got angry and kicked Mia."

Hearing this, Scott's brows furrowed even more. He thought, James's accusations against Elysia are true!

Emma said, "Dad, although Elysia did something wrong, she is still your daughter. I hope you can go easy on her."

Emma had a reason for pleading for Elysia. Scott was already furious, and her plea would not only fail to soften his heart but would also increase his anger towards Elysia. Moreover, with her pleading, no matter what Elysia threw at her later, everyone would stand on her side, sympathizing with her and despising Elysia.

Sure enough, as soon as Emma finished speaking, Scott exploded. He shouted, "Go easy! I'm afraid she won't learn her lesson and keep causing trouble!"

"Who's causing trouble?" Elysia asked as she walked in with her hands in her pockets, her face indifferent.

Seeing Elysia, Scott's face darkened even more. He said, "Elysia, you still have the nerve to come back!"

Elysia replied, "Didn't you ask me to come back?"

Scott shouted, "When did I ask you to come back? Look at the time now!"

Elysia glanced at her wristwatch and said, "It's about the same as usual, not too late." With that, she sat down on the sofa and crossed her legs. Seeing this, Scott got even angrier. He looked at Paul standing by and ordered, "Paul, go get the whip."

Hearing this, Emma was secretly delighted. The last time, she had been whipped hard, and her back still ached when she thought about it. Now it was finally Elysia's turn to get hit. How could she not be happy! She thought, If Elysia was beaten so badly that she couldn’t get out of bed for three days and three nights, then the birthday party could be canceled. I don’t believe Elysia could still be in the limelight.

Elysia frowned slightly. She thought, Why are they so quick to judge without even hearing my side of the story! Even a criminal should have a chance to present their testimony. She shouted, "Wait a minute!"

Paul, who was about to get the whip, stopped in his tracks, looking at Elysia in confusion. He wondered what Elysia wanted to do.

Seeing Paul pause, Scott was displeased. He asked, "What are you standing there for?"

Seeing Scott's unhappy expression, Elysia said, "I said, stop."

Paul was about to move again. But before he could take a step, Elysia called out to him again, this time in an unfriendly tone. Paul looked at Elysia again. He saw the cold, bloodthirsty chill in Elysia’s eyes. He frowned. He had been working in the Rosewood family for so many years and had seen countless people, but he had never seen such a strong aura from anyone. He thought, She has a presence that is even more intimidating than Scott's.

Emma was also puzzled. She thought, Logically, someone who has lived in a poor village for eighteen years shouldn’t have such an aura. Moreover, she is facing Scott. Isn’t she afraid of provoking his displeasure! Emma couldn’t understand Elysia.

Chapter 32 (This seems to be a mistake; it's likely meant to be a continuation of Chapter 52.)

Elysia said, "Dad, we haven't figured this out yet. Why bring out the whip so hastily? If it turns out to be unnecessary, we'll have to put it away. Why go through all that trouble?"

Hearing this, Emma frowned slightly. She thought, How could Elysia be so sure it would be unnecessary!
