Chapter 67

Scott’s brows furrowed; even if they cut the power now, it was too late. Everyone had heard every word and likely guessed what happened. His top priority was dismissing the guests.

Thinking this, Scott stepped onto the stage, picked up the microphone, and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, the party is over. I apologize for any shortcomings in my hospitality. I will make it up to you another day.”

The sound system connected to the microphone differed from the one playing the recording; the two sounds mixed. Although difficult to hear clearly, everyone understood Scott was asking them to leave.

The guests, having witnessed the drama, lost interest. They said their goodbyes to Scott and departed.

Some business partners close to the Rosewoods reminded Scott, “Scott, you need to handle this properly. A rotten core means everything is rotten.”

Scott could only nod in agreement and see them off.

At this moment, Zane appeared. Seeing him, Scott quickly approached and said, “Mr. Hartley, I apologize for the poor hospitality today.”

Zane replied, “It’s a family matter; I shouldn’t interfere, but I must remind you, Mr. Rosewood, to carefully weigh the rights and wrongs. Don’t blame the wrong person.” He exuded a cold aura.

He knew Elysia wouldn’t allow herself to be disadvantaged, but he still felt compelled to offer a reminder. It was less tiring if he could handle it himself.

As a seasoned businessman, Scott understood Zane’s implication—he was protecting Elysia. Their relationship is much closer than I imagined, Scott thought.

Scott quickly nodded, replying, “Mr. Hartley, rest assured, I understand completely.”

Zane said, “Good,” and left the Rosewood residence.

Zane’s assistant remained shocked. Mr. Hartley's priority is attending Ms. Elysia Rosewood's birthday party? Is this the Mr. Hartley I know? he wondered.

Meanwhile, Alice had reluctantly said goodbye to Elysia. Turning around, she couldn’t find Zane and worried he’d forgotten her.

She immediately called Zane. As soon as the call connected, Alice shouted, “Zane, where are you!”

Zane calmly replied, “In the car.”

Alice became angry. “Zane, do you still remember who gave you the heads-up?”

Zane’s brows furrowed slightly. He said, “Ten at the entrance of the Rosewood residence. If you come out now, you can go home.”

Alice, fearing Zane would leave, rushed out. I am a tool person, she thought. She hung up, believing Zane would wait.

Finding the Maybach at the entrance, Alice sighed in relief. She quickly got in and, ignoring Zane’s expression, complained, “Zane, I will never help you again!”

Zane replied, “Okay.”

Alice said, “If I don’t give you tips, you’ll never catch up with Elysia.”

Zane finally looked at Alice, displeased. “Who taught you these things?”

Alice shrugged. “Do I need to be taught? It’s innate.”

Zane gently knocked on Alice’s head. “I wonder what’s in here? You haven’t inherited any of the Hartley family’s excellent genes.”

Alice rolled her eyes. “Do you think everyone is as arrogant as you?”

Zane asked, “What?”

Alice, feeling Zane’s cold aura, swallowed hard and said, “I was wrong, I accept the punishment.”

The guests had almost all left. Scott, still bustling about, apologized to people. His expression wasn’t good. He’d envisioned a glorious night, ruined by the video and recording. He’d become the laughingstock.

Compared to the bustling residence, Elena, Ava, and Elysia seemed out of place. Unlike the departing guests, busy servants, or Scott’s anxiety, they stood as bystanders.

Elena’s gaze fell on the still-playing recording. “When will this stop? This sound is annoying,” she said.

Elysia said, “Don’t worry, it’s almost over.” As she finished, the sound system stopped.

Ava looked at Elysia in disbelief. “Elysia, do you have magic?”

Elysia smiled faintly. She hadn’t used magic; she’d tampered with the sound system and big screen, implanting code to play at the right time.

Elena understood but smiled, thinking, Elysia’s abilities far exceed what I’ve seen.

Elysia thanked Elena for the Shelton family’s help. Elena replied it was nothing.

Ava, initially confused, realized the connection. Pointing at Elena, she exclaimed, “The Shelton family is your family!”

Elena confirmed.

Ava shouted, “No way!” The student council president, Elena, is the daughter of the Shelton family from the capital? she thought, realizing Elena’s family was incredibly influential.

Seeing Ava’s speechless expression, Elysia laughed, thinking, Is it really that surprising?

Ava, if she knew Elysia’s thoughts, would have exclaimed, “Don’t look at us mortals from a God’s perspective! This news is explosive!”

Elena asked Ava to keep her family background a secret. Ava was confused; anyone else would publicize such a powerful background.
