Chapter 16
Liam had been holding onto this enormous pink diamond for ages, waiting for the perfect moment to propose to Emma. He had searched for it in all the major diamond mines for years and finally found it. This diamond was exceptional—top-notch quality with perfect cut and clarity. It cost two million dollars, but its actual value was incalculable. Most women in the world would be ecstatic to receive such a precious gem.
Through the gentle sparkling of the diamond ring, Emma suddenly remembered Liam's words from her previous life as she lay dying: “Don’t be afraid, Emma. I won’t let you face the world alone. I won’t let you die alone. I’m with you.” He proved with his life that he would love her unconditionally. And now, she didn't want to lose him.
“Yes, I do,” answered Emma, staring firmly at Liam.
She saw the ecstasy in his eyes and allowed him to place the diamond ring on her finger, a lifelong commitment. Overwhelmed with emotion, she knelt and kissed him. Before everyone, they sealed their love with a kiss. Elijah and Aria's engagement party had unexpectedly become Liam's proposal scene. The next day, the news of Liam's proposal to Emma, and the giant pink diamond, dominated headlines.
When Aria saw the picture in the hospital, she was furious. She smashed a cup at her bedside, screaming, “That bitch!”
The doctor, hearing the commotion, entered, disgruntled. “Please don’t yell in the hospital. You’re disturbing other patients!”
Aria continued screaming, prompting the doctor to warn, “If you don’t stop, I’ll call the police!”
Aria fell silent, realizing the consequences of her actions. The threat of arrest was enough to make her feign illness. Following her admission, evidence revealed the blood she'd shed was fake, and a DNA test from the amniocentesis proved the baby wasn't Elijah's. Her schemes were exposed, shocking even the medical staff.
Emma and Liam exited city hall, the sun shining brightly. They were the first couple to register that day. As they left, Liam gently tucked a stray strand of Emma's hair behind her ear. “You woke up very early. Go back and get some more sleep.”
Emma smiled sweetly. “Okay, but are you coming home with me?”
Liam laughed, pinching her rosy cheek. “Of course. It’s our wedding day.”
Liam's estate, Icovine Estate, sprawled across hundreds of acres, a magnificent example of Rococo architecture. Emma, having fallen asleep in the car the previous night, hadn't seen much of it. Liam, ever the gentleman, hadn't awakened her. Now home, she was eager to explore their new life together.
“Our bedroom is upstairs. There are gardens and a golf course outside, and in the basement, a movie theater and a Jacuzzi—designed especially for you. We can always make changes later if you want,” Liam explained.
Emma looked around, then at the enormous pink diamond on her finger. “Wow, you’re rich!”
Liam chuckled. “Yeah, that’s why I need a woman to spend my money. Don't you dare save any for me.”
Emma laughed at his words.
Liam spent a relaxing day with Emma at Icovine Estate. However, as night fell, an awkwardness settled between them. Emma was a virgin, and the prospect of intimacy made her heart race.
Liam needed Emma's help bathing due to his disability. In the bathtub, water clung to his tanned skin, highlighting his strong, alluring physique. Emma tried not to look, but her face flushed.
Liam gazed at her lovingly. “Are you nervous?”
“A little,” she admitted.
“We’re married,” he reminded her.
Despite his outwardly strong demeanor, she loved and respected him deeply.
“You’re done. Let me get your clothes,” Emma offered, turning to leave.
Liam caught her wrist, pulling her close. “Get used to this, then you won’t be nervous.” He kissed her.
His touch ignited her senses. He gently pried open her lips with his tongue, whispering, “Close your eyes.” She obeyed, her senses consumed by his kiss until she relaxed and hugged him.
Once in bed, Emma stopped him. “Liam…”
“Still nervous?” he asked softly.
She shook her head, her dark hair cascading over her shoulders.
Liam, breathing heavily, hugged her, kissing her hair and brow. “It’s okay. We have plenty of time.”
Embarrassed, she kissed his cheek.
“I’ll rest in the study. Sleep tight,” he said, afraid he might lose control with her in his bed.
Emma felt a sense of emptiness but nodded obediently. Liam tucked her in and went to the study.
Alone in bed, Emma couldn't sleep. It was their wedding night. Unlike the previous night, when she'd slept without recollection, tonight felt different. She couldn't bear the thought of leaving Liam alone. She tiptoed to the study.
“Liam,” she called softly.
Liam was surprised. “Still awake?” he asked. Noticing her bare feet, he patted his lap. “Come here. You’ll catch a cold.”
Emma sat on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. “Let’s go to bed.”
“Okay,” he replied.
Emma kissed Liam's cheek, then felt a shift in his body. Her face flushed, and she stammered, “Your… lower body… has feelings, right?”
Liam squinted. “Which part exactly?”
“Shut up!” Emma pushed him away shyly and stood up. What a cunning man! she thought.
