Chapter 48

“Did you send it?” Leon asked.

The mapped back to reality and quickly opened Julian’s chat. “We’ll be there in five minutes.” To her surprise, Julian replied almost immediately, “Mrs. Huller?”

Kelly was surprised to be addressed so formally and wondered if she should reply, since it was Leon’s phone. Leon noticed Kelly’s surprised expression as she stared at the phone. He frowned. “What did he say?”

Kelly, still baffled, looked at Leon. Leon chuckled. “He’s a few months older than you. It’s okay for him to address you like this.”

The point was that she was eight years younger than Julian. She wasn't sure she wanted to respond, even if he called her that. Noticing how awkward this seemed, Leon immediately reassured her. “It’s okay, just let…”

“But he’s a doctor?” she asked.

“Many doctors like to joke around,” he replied.

“What department is he in?” Kelly asked.

“Pediatrics.” Leon seemed to remember something, then added, “By the way, he can help take care of our child.”

Kelly was rendered speechless. Seeing that Kelly had taken his words seriously, Leon hurriedly explained, “I was just joking.”

Sometimes, his jokes weren’t fuzzy at all. The restaurant was located in a mall. As Kelly followed Leon out of the car and approached the private room, she began to feel nervous again.

“Don’t be nervous. If you don’t know what to say, just focus on eating. Besides, he should be feeling anxious about meeting you for the first time,” Leon said softly, noticing how uneasy she was.

Kelly couldn’t help but laugh. Then, she shot him a shy look. That day, Julian had received a message from Leon telling him not to scare Kelly, as she was really young. At the time, he hadn’t thought much about it and wondered how young she could possibly be. But when the door to the private room opened, Leon’s tall figure came in, followed by a petite figure behind him. Her nervous and timid look revealed that she was a young woman who had yet to face the harsh realities of life.

Julian’s gaze immediately changed as he looked at Leon. He couldn’t believe that Leon had targeted such a young woman. He hadn’t expected Kelly to be so young. Leon noticed Julian’s expression but chose to ignore it. He turned to Kelly and said, “This is my friend, Julian Westwood. Julian, this is my wife, Kelly Valencia.”

“Hello,” Kelly said awkwardly, standing next to Leon and giving Julian a slight nod. After a brief shock, Julian replied, “Hello, hello.” Then, he hesitantly asked, “May I ask how old you are?”

Kelly glanced at Leon before answering. Julian’s eyes widened in surprise, and he thought, “Well, she really is in her early twenties.”

“Are you still in college?” Julian asked.

“Yeah,” Kelly replied.

“Which school is it?” Julian questioned.

Julian’s tone changed. As though he were talking to a child, his voice was gentle.

“Tholon Medical University,” Kelly answered.

That was the same school where Leon worked.
