Chapter 1060

โ€œAlright,โ€ Gary opened the car door and carried Michael out.

Michael tilted his head. โ€œMom, arenโ€™t you going to pick up Mr. Lime?โ€

โ€œYou and Gary go ahead. Iโ€™ll be there soon.โ€ โ€˜I canโ€™t just stand by and do nothing while Lucas and Yalena are together,โ€™ she thought.

Inside the cafรฉ, Lucas hadnโ€™t noticed Teresa yet. He sat across from Yalena, his expression serious. โ€œIโ€™ve agreed to date you, but I want you to keep your promise. From now on, donโ€™t go after my sister or Jonathan ever again. Just leave them alone.โ€

Yalena smirked and stood up. โ€œGot it. Then let me kiss you.โ€

She leaned toward Lucas, but he turned away. Her lips landed about an inch from his cheek. Looking a little deflated, she said, โ€œLucas, I love you. I mean it.โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t love you,โ€ Lucas just repeated.

Yalenaโ€™s expression showed she was hurt. The next second, a hand yanked her away.

โ€œWhat do you think youโ€™re trying to do to Lucas?โ€ Teresa fixed her gaze on Yalena and then turned to Lucas. โ€œAre you alright?โ€

Lucas shook his head. He was fine. โ€œTeresa, what brings you here?โ€

โ€œI just happened to be passing by and saw you. Why are you here with her?โ€

โ€œBecauseโ€ฆโ€ Lucas fell silent. Instinctively, he tried to avoid her gaze.

Yalena declared, โ€œIโ€™m Lucasโ€™s girlfriend now. Weโ€™re going to get married.โ€

โ€œExcuse me?โ€ Teresa shot back. โ€œYou, my sister-in-law? Keep dreaming.โ€

Yalena smirked, โ€œIโ€™m the heiress of Kelly Group. If I become your sister-in-law, your brotherโ€™s hardly losing out. I can give him all the riches and status he could want.โ€

โ€œLucas doesnโ€™t care about your dirty money. Come on, Lucas, letโ€™s go. And donโ€™t ever see her again,โ€ Teresa said while she dragged Lucas away.

Yalena didnโ€™t even bother to chase after them.

Once they got in the car, Teresa turned to Lucas and asked, โ€œWhat is going on?โ€

โ€œTeresa, can you just not worry about me?โ€ Lucas said.

โ€œLucas, please, donโ€™t do anything crazy. You know exactly what kind of person Yalena is. Itโ€™s not worth throwing yourself away just for her money.โ€

Lucas nodded. โ€œTrust me, I know what Iโ€™m doing.โ€

โ€œYou have to keep your distance from her,โ€ Teresa reminded him again as she started the car. Only then did she tell Lucas, โ€œJonathan comes back today. I want to go pick him up.โ€

โ€œReally? Jonathanโ€™s finally back. How long is he staying this time?โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t know,โ€ Lucas said. He wasnโ€™t leaving, but Teresa still wasnโ€™t sure if he meant it.

However, there was a traffic accident ahead, and the road was jammed. Teresa was getting anxious, honking her horn over and over as the minutes ticked by.

Just as they were about to get moving in the traffic, she realized the person in the accident was Evelyn. Evelynโ€™s car had been scratched. โ€œMom!โ€ Teresa and Lucas both got out of the car.

โ€œGood timing, Teresa. Can you call the police and get them to handle this mess?โ€ Evelyn said. She wasnโ€™t at fault; the other driver was.

Lucas jumped in, โ€œGo on to the airport, Teresa. Iโ€™ll handle this here.โ€

Evelyn frowned, puzzled. โ€œWhat are you heading to the airport for, Teresa?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m just picking up a friend,โ€ Teresa replied, and she shot Lucas a meaningful look.

Lucas immediately understood. โ€œThatโ€™s right, itโ€™s Teresaโ€™s lawyer friend.โ€

โ€œAlright then, you go ahead. Lucas will help me here,โ€ Evelyn said.

โ€œOkay,โ€ Teresa agreed and got in the car. By the time she finally rushed to the airport, it was already 8:30 PM. She pulled out her phone and saw that Gary had called her. She called him back. โ€œHey, Iโ€™m here. Whereโ€™s Jonathan?โ€

โ€œWeโ€™re at the international exit at Terminal B. Just come over and weโ€™ll talk,โ€ Gary said. With that, he hung up.

Teresa rushed over, her heart thumping wildly in her chest. โ€˜Iโ€™m about to see him. What kind of look would Jonathan have on his face?โ€™ Just imagining it, she found her fingers starting to tremble.

But when she got to the arrivals gate on the second floor, she only saw Gary standing there, a small suitcase by his side. โ€œWhereโ€™s Jonathan? And Mike?โ€

Gary sighed. โ€œWellโ€ฆโ€

Teresa pressed, โ€œWhatโ€™s with the sigh? Where are they?โ€

โ€œJonathan was pretty mad you didnโ€™t show up, so he just took Mike and caught a flight to Elarioa.โ€

โ€œWhat did you just say?โ€

Gary quickly added, โ€œThey probably havenโ€™t gone through security yet. They havenโ€™t left. If you look now, you might still catch them.โ€

Teresa raced around the massive airport, desperately searching for Jonathan. โ€˜Did he really take Mike and leave? How could this happen? Why didnโ€™t he wait for me? Itโ€™s happening all over again. I missed him again. Is he mad at me?โ€™

Just as Teresa was about to lose it, someone suddenly tapped her on the shoulder. She whipped around. A tall figure was right in front of her.

It was Jonathan. He stood in front of her, wrapped in a black coat, that face so familiarโ€“his features looked even sharper and more intense than before. And those deep eyes, like a starry night over the ocean, were just as captivating as ever.

Teresa took a deep breath, staring at Jonathan, afraid that if she blinked, he might vanish. For a moment, she wondered if she was dreaming.

Jonathan spoke, his voice low and steady. โ€œItโ€™s Been Awhile.โ€

Teresaโ€™s eyes welled up with tears. โ€œI thought you guys had left!โ€ She couldnโ€™t help but hug Jonathan, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck.

All the longing sheโ€™d been holding back for days, and the feelings sheโ€™d kept buried deep inside, came rushing out like a dam breaking. And with it came the hurt, and the sadness, all spilling over into emotions she couldnโ€™t control.

Jonathan was momentarily stunned. Before he could even react or enjoy the hug, Teresa realized she was being too forward and let go. โ€œDidnโ€™t you take Mike and leave the country?โ€

Jonathan was confused. โ€œHuh? I just got back. Why would I leave again?โ€

โ€œOh.โ€ Teresa wiped away her tears. โ€œThatโ€™s what Gary told me.โ€

Jonathan frowned. โ€˜What the hell?โ€™ He explained to Teresa, โ€œMike needed to use the restroom, so I took him. When we got back, Gary told me you were looking for me over here.โ€ Gary was walking over with Michael.

โ€œMom! Youโ€™re finally here. Mr. Lime and I have been waiting for you.โ€ Michael exclaimed, running over and throwing himself at Teresa.

Jonathan walked over to Gary and gave him two solid punches. โ€œSeriously? Lying to Teresa about me taking Mike abroad?โ€ Gary just burst out laughing. โ€œCome on, I was just joking.โ€

โ€œSo, you think this is funny?โ€ Teresa gave Gary a hard kick. Now under attack from both sides, Gary put on an exaggerated show of pain.

โ€œAlright, letโ€™s go,โ€ Jonathan said, pulling his hand back. Then he scooped Michael up into his arms. Michael cheered, โ€œLetโ€™s go! Home, here we come.โ€
