Listen to this chapter:

"Okay, you can come back now," Yalena said.

"I got it, Ms. Kelly," the man replied.

Hanging up, a calculating gleam flashed in Yalenaโ€™s eyes. She thought, I need to find out if Jonathan knows about the child. Irene must have no idea about this. If Jonathan doesnโ€™t know about the child either, I can kill the child.

Just like I had killed the real heiress of the Kelly family before, I have to marry Jonathan before they find out Iโ€™m a false heiress.

โ€œThat way, even if my secret comes out, I can still walk away with a fortune." Yalena curled her lips into a smug smirk.

While Teresa was taking Michael home, he wouldnโ€™t stop complaining. โ€œMommy, you promised Mr. Lime would be my daddy. Youโ€™re such a liar!โ€

โ€œMichael, Jonathan is getting married. That lady in green at the hospital might be his bride,โ€ Teresa replied.

โ€œNo way! Mommy, do you believe that? Youโ€™re so naive,โ€ Michael grumbled, sinking back into his chair as he drifted off to sleep.

Teresa took a deep breath and tried to calm down.

Back home, Teresa had already booked her weekend flight and retrieved her passport. Everything was ready. But as she recalled how Hayden had held Michael with that look of regret in his eyes, Teresaโ€™s heart ached just as much.

Teresa thought that if Irene and Yalena hadnโ€™t arrived so suddenly, she probably would have let Gary reveal everything.

Gary suddenly called Teresa. โ€œHey, are you still in Nareigh?โ€ he asked.

Teresa asked coldly, โ€œWhat do you want?โ€

Gary replied, โ€œWe need to talk about Michael.โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t want to come clean anymore. With Irene around and Yalena seemingly getting married to Jonathan," Teresa replied.

Gary sighed helplessly, โ€œWhy did you change your mind?โ€

โ€œIf heโ€™s getting married, I donโ€™t want to cause any trouble,โ€ Teresa explained.

โ€œHold on,โ€ Gary said. โ€œEven if Yalena wants to marry Jonathan, once Jonathan finds out Michael is his son, he wonโ€™t go through with it.โ€

In other words, Gary believed Jonathan needed to know Michael was his son.

Teresa shook her head. โ€œItโ€™s too late. Donโ€™t waste your energy.โ€

โ€œI think thereโ€™s still time. Thatโ€™s why I called you. When Michael came to the hospital and I was holding him, I secretly took a few strands of his hair,โ€ Gary said.

Teresa froze and felt surprised.

โ€œTonight, Iโ€™ll go see Jonathan and get a few strands of his hair without him knowing. Then I'll run a DNA test for him and Michael. Iโ€™m only telling you this. Keep it to yourself, especially from Jennifer,โ€ Gary continued.

Gary seemed ready to take an all-or-nothing gamble. He thought, if Jennifer learns about this, sheโ€™ll surely fake the test results again!

Christian had already agreed with Gary that he would tell the truth when necessary. Now, Gary had everything arranged perfectly.

Chapter 660

His previous plans had always failed because, to Teresa, he had been plagued by too many concerns, with Jennifer being the biggest. Gary said, โ€œThis time, I must succeed!โ€

Teresa snapped back to reality. โ€œAre you serious?โ€ The line went dead.

Teresa took a deep breath. She thought, If the test results come out and Irene finds out about Michael, maybe sheโ€™ll accuse me of ruining Jonathanโ€™s marriage. Or maybe sheโ€™ll call me shameless for secretly having a child with Jonathan.

Teresa wasnโ€™t sure if Irene would accept Michael. She quickly called the airline to change her flight. She decided to leave the next day.

As Teresa gathered her passport, a debit card slipped out from inside. It was the one she had given Hayden.

Teresa picked up the card and suddenly remembered that when Jonathan had given her the passport, she had tossed it carelessly onto the chair without even bothering to check inside.

Teresa had no choice but to call Jonathan. She thought, โ€œThis is for Hayden. Why did Jonathan give it back to me?"

Jonathan said, โ€œHayden says he got the money, so he doesnโ€™t need the card. Donโ€™t worry. His condition isnโ€™t serious.โ€

โ€œBut wasnโ€™t Hayden supposed to have surgery?โ€ Teresa asked.

โ€œGiven Haydenโ€™s advanced age, brain surgery is too risky. Weโ€™ve consulted many specialists, and they all recommend conservative treatment. The worst-case scenario is that he could become paralyzed at some point, though no one can predict exactly when,โ€ Jonathan replied.

Teresaโ€™s eyes welled up with tears. โ€œIf Hayden ends up paralyzed, he wonโ€™t be able to take it.โ€

โ€œYou donโ€™t have to be so pessimistic. Haydenโ€™s always been in good spirits,โ€ Jonathan said, trying to comfort Teresa.

โ€œWell, thatโ€™s great," Teresa replied lightly, not wanting to spoil the mood. โ€œI hope Hayden has a speedy recovery."

โ€œYeah, he left the hospital today,โ€ Jonathan said.

โ€œOkay, thatโ€™s great,โ€ Teresa said. โ€œIโ€™m hanging up now.โ€

โ€œWhy are you leaving?โ€ Just before she could hang up, Jonathanโ€™s voice cut through the line.

Teresa fell silent for a few seconds. After a moment, she said, โ€œJust tired. I need to get away for a bit.โ€ She hung up the phone.

Hayden was about to be discharged and could go home to recuperate. He needed to maintain a light diet and avoid emotional stress.

Even though he had received prompt treatment, the stroke had left some lingering effects. He was currently unsteady on his feet and would need proper care at home.

โ€œHayden, youโ€™re out of the hospital. My parents sent their best wishes through me.โ€ At the hospital entrance, Yalena approached Hayden in his wheelchair, holding out a bouquet.

Hayden accepted the flowers. He thought, 'Itโ€™s thoughtful of her to visit me. Her parents are very nice too.'

โ€œYalena, youโ€™re such a catch. You deserve someone better. Donโ€™t even consider marrying Jonathan. Heโ€™s way too old for you and already divorced,โ€ Hayden teased.

Jonathan, pushing the wheelchair, cleared his throat pointedly.

Yalena smiled and said, โ€œHayden, donโ€™t say that; heโ€™ll feel hurt. What can you call such a distinguished gentleman old? Thirty is the perfect age.โ€

Hayden sighed, seeing that Yalena still wasnโ€™t catching on. โ€œJonathanโ€™s temper is terrible. There are lots of great guys out there, marrying him would be like settling for something less than you deserve.โ€

Chapter 660

Yalena sneered inwardly and thought, Hayden, in your little mind.

โ€œDonโ€™t tell me youโ€™re against her becoming the stepmom?โ€

Hayden froze, stunned for a moment. He quickly spun around to glare at Jonathan, who was pushing the wheelchair, sharply. โ€œYou havenโ€™t been hiding a son from me all this time, have you?โ€

โ€œDo you remember the little boy we saw at the hospital the other day? I thought he resembled Jonathan so strongly. I assumed he was Jonathanโ€™s son. Was I mistaken?โ€ Yalena asked.

Hayden finally understood and let out a sigh. โ€œIf only Jonathan had a baby.โ€

โ€œLetโ€™s go,โ€ Jonathan said coldly, pushing Haydenโ€™s wheelchair past Yalena with an icy expression.

Yalena didnโ€™t bother chasing after them. Her eyes gleamed with a vicious glint. She thought, From his expression, he doesnโ€™t know either. Otherwise, he would have been angry.

Yalenaโ€™s phone rang.

She answered it. โ€œMs. Kelly, weโ€™ve confirmed that Teresa has booked a flight to London for tomorrow evening.โ€

Yalena flicked her manicured nails dismissively. โ€œGreat. A car accident at night will do them in.โ€
