Chapter 770

โ€œNo need. Iโ€™ve troubled you enough with my family stuff,โ€ Teresa said. She hadnโ€™t expected things to turn out like this.

โ€œIโ€™m not afraid of you troubling me,โ€ Jonathan said. โ€œIโ€™m just afraid youโ€™ll start overthinking if youโ€™re alone.โ€

If he hadnโ€™t seen it with his own eyes today, Jonathan wouldnโ€™t have known Jennifer treated Teresa like thisโ€“yelling at her whenever she was upset, like a loser who only knew how to take it out on family.

He used to think Jennifer was just cold, but he hadnโ€™t realized she cared so little about her own family.

โ€œI have to help you. Jennifer needs to find her real mom soon so sheโ€™ll stop bothering you.โ€ After saying that, Jonathan took Teresa back to his place.

โ€œMommy!โ€ Michael ran over and hugged her as soon as he saw her in the courtyard house. โ€œMommy, I missed you.โ€

Feeling the wetness in his eyes, Teresa felt like something had stabbed her heart. She crouched down, wiped his tears, and held him gently.

โ€œItโ€™s only been two days since we last saw each other,โ€ she said.

Michael nodded and wiped his eyes with his little hands. โ€œBut I still missed you.โ€

โ€œIs that so? I missed you too,โ€ Teresa said. โ€œMike, howโ€™s it been staying here with Mr. Lime? Are you comfy?โ€

โ€œSo comfy. Everythingโ€™s here.โ€ Michael started to cheer up.

Jonathan stood nearby, watching the scene. It was his first time seeing Teresa comfort a child. Her gentleness seemed to be only for children.

โ€œMike, come let Daddy give you a hug,โ€ he said.

After Teresa soothed him, Jonathan picked Michael up, stroked his little head, and whispered in his ear, โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? Did you miss Mommy?โ€

โ€œMr. Lime, I thought you left me here and didnโ€™t want me anymore.โ€ Michael clung to Jonathanโ€™s neck, burying his face in his shoulder, sounding so pitiful.

Jonathan felt a sharp pain in his chest. He explained patiently, โ€œIโ€™m sorry. Itโ€™s my fault for being careless. I saw you were sleeping and didnโ€™t want to wake you.

โ€œDidnโ€™t the nanny tell you Iโ€™d be back soon? I went to get Mommy. I brought her here so we can all stay together.โ€

Michael understood right away and stopped crying. โ€œMr. Lime, so you went to get Mommy and didnโ€™t leave me?โ€

Jonathan nodded. โ€œHow could I leave you? Didnโ€™t you say you wanted to go to the amusement park? Daddy will take you together, okay?โ€

โ€œReally? Donโ€™t lie to me.โ€ Michaelโ€™s pitiful little eyes were impossible to ignore.

Jonathan thought for a moment and said, โ€œWeโ€™ll go tomorrow. Daddy will make time for it.โ€

โ€œYay!โ€ Michael raised his little hand. โ€œMr. Daddy Lime, youโ€™re the best.โ€

Michael was easy to cheer up and soon forgot his sadness. Jonathan and Teresa stayed with him the whole time. When Michael got sleepy, he fell asleep on the bed, still holding Teresaโ€™s hand.

Jonathan stood by the bed, feeling guilty. โ€œI didnโ€™t think this through. I didnโ€™t expect Mike to feel wronged staying here alone, to think I didnโ€™t want him anymore.โ€

He had bought Michael plenty of toys, hired a nanny, and even set up a playground slide in the yard. But still, he had let his son feel hurt.

Jonathan was full of guilt and selfโ€“blame.

Teresa shook her head. โ€œItโ€™s not your fault. Youโ€™ve done so much for my family already. If anyoneโ€™s to blame, itโ€™s me. I raised him alone before, so he only had me. Heโ€™s scared Iโ€™ll leave him. Thatโ€™s on me.โ€

She felt she hadnโ€™t given Michael enough security. She didnโ€™t want him to grow up like she did.

Jonathan lifted his hand, wanting to touch Teresaโ€™s hair. But his hand froze in midair. In the end, he just patted her shoulder.

โ€œItโ€™s okay. Letโ€™s not blame ourselves anymore,โ€ he said. โ€œTomorrow weโ€™ll take him out for the whole day.โ€

โ€œTo Universal Center?โ€ Teresa asked.

โ€œNo, not there,โ€ Jonathan said. โ€œToo many people. Youโ€™re pregnantโ€“I donโ€™t feel safe with that.โ€

โ€œThen where?โ€ Teresa asked again.

โ€œI booked another amusement park,โ€ Jonathan said. โ€œTomorrow itโ€™s all ours. Just the three of us. Weโ€™ll have fun.โ€

Teresa thought, โ€˜He booked the whole place? How much does that even cost?โ€˜

Jonathan didnโ€™t explain further. โ€œGet some rest. Are you staying with him tonight?โ€

โ€œYeah, Iโ€™ll stay,โ€ Teresa said. Michael was still holding her hand, and she couldnโ€™t bear to leave him.

โ€œAlright,โ€ Jonathan said.

The next day, the three of them got ready to go to the amusement park.

Jonathan told Teresa that heโ€™d take Michael on some of the other rides, and all she had to do was ride the carousel with him.

Michael, a little Leo like a ball of sunshine, had already shaken off yesterdayโ€™s troubles. Today, he had his tiny backpack on and was happily spinning in circles again.

On the way to the park, Michael held Teresaโ€™s hand with one hand and Jonathanโ€™s with the other. Giggling, he said, โ€œIโ€™m so happy right now. I have Mommy and Daddy. Iโ€™m the happiest kid in the whole world.โ€

Jonathan felt complicated. He never thought his kid would feel so happy just because he had both parents with him.

He glanced at Teresa without thinking and saw that her face was also complicated, as if she didnโ€™t know what to feel either.

โ€œAwesome! I can see the park gates.โ€ Michael let go of their hands and ran ahead.

โ€œMike, slow downโ€“do you hear me?โ€ Teresa called out, worried.

Jonathan, on the other hand, seemed totally relaxed. He grabbed Teresaโ€™s hand. โ€œLet him run. Look at himโ€“faster than most fiveโ€“yearโ€“olds. Thatโ€™s my boy.โ€

Teresa sighed helplessly, thinking, โ€˜Wow, this guy is so full of himself. Michaelโ€™s smart because he takes after me. Everyone in my family is

Chapter 769

โ€œMom, howโ€™s it going over there?โ€ Teresa asked.

After leaving the restaurant, Teresa had gotten a call from Evelyn. She asked if that woman was really Peggy.

Evelyn said helplessly on the phone, โ€œIโ€™m not sure. I think itโ€™s her, but she swears itโ€™s not and says Iโ€™ve got the wrong person. I remember she had a red birthmark on her shoulder. If I couldโ€™ve seen it, Iโ€™d know.โ€

But the woman had driven away. Evelyn had no way to confirm it.

Teresa took a deep breath. โ€œOkay, I got it. Weโ€™ll find another chance later.โ€

She wanted Evelyn to come stay with her, but Evelyn refused. So Teresa booked her a hotel room and sent her 6 thousand dollars after hanging up.

Teresa stared out the window, full of worry. Suddenly, Jonathan took her hand.

He looked at her and said, โ€œIโ€™ll find another chance for your mom to meet that Peggy. Iโ€™ll check where sheโ€™s staying. Donโ€™t stress over this. Leave it to me.โ€œ

โ€œMr. Big Starโ€ Michael shouted suddenly when he got to the gate, waving toward Lucas across the street.

Lucas saw him and smiled, crossing the street toward Michael. โ€œHey, Mike. What a coincidence, seeing you again. What are you doing here?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m here with my mom and dad,โ€ Michael said proudly, pointing to his parents walking toward them.

Lucas turned and saw Jonathan, then Teresa.

Michael lifted his chin even higher. โ€œSee? Isnโ€™t my mom pretty? But donโ€™t fall in love with her, okay? I already have a dad.โ€

Lucas couldnโ€™t help laughing. He admitted he had looked at Teresa twice, but only because she seemed oddly familiar, like someone heโ€™d seen before.

โ€œMike.โ€ Teresa walked over and patted Michaelโ€™s head. โ€œDonโ€™t run off, and donโ€™t be naughty.โ€

Michael pointed at Lucas. โ€œMom, this is the guy who gave me a gift. Heโ€™s gonna be a big star one day.โ€

Teresaโ€™s eyes finally landed on Lucas.
