Teresa went from the hospital to the room. The doctor walked over and said to Jonathan, "This Basque here is under too much stress. It has worsened her pregnancy symptoms. It isn't just normal morning sickness, but you need to help her relax and ease her stress as soon as possible."
Jonathan frowned and said, "Okay. Thank you, doctor."
In the ward, after all that trouble, Teresa finally stopped feeling nauseous. Seeing her pale face, Jonathan took a deep breath and walked over. He gently covered her with a blanket and said, "Get some rest."
Teresa shook her head and glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already five oโclock. "Itโs already morning. I might as well stay up. What did the doctor say?"
Jonathan told her what the doctor had said, "Youโre under too much stress and anxiety, which is making your vomiting worse. What did you promise me before? Didnโt we agree to put the baby first and not act on impulse?"
Teresa defended herself. โI wasnโt being impulsive."
Jonathan said, โYou flew here all by yourself without even telling me. Isnโt that impulsive? Is your phone just for decoration? Iโve been waiting all day with my phone on, but you didnโt bother to call me even once.โ
Teresa looked a bit frustrated. โI forgot. Besides, since Lucas had woken up, I wanted to come to the hospital to check on him.โ
Jonathan said, โLook how weak you are, and you even came all the way here to see him? Couldnโt you just wait until he gets back to Nareigh and talk at home?"
"You always just do whatever pops into your head, never thinking about the consequences. And you never consider that youโre still pregnant!โ
Teresa shot back, โHumph, so now youโre blaming me? Isnโt it just because youโre scared something might happen to the baby? The babyโs going to be just fine. Heโll be born safe and sound, okay?"
โSo, in your eyes, I only care about the baby?โ Jonathan asked.
โYou said it yourself. If it werenโt for the baby, you wouldโve left me a long time ago, right? I never wanted to use the baby to tie you down, or to get anything out of you. So donโt use the baby as an excuse to lecture me. I donโt want to hear any of your so-called righteous talk!โ
Jonathan stared at Teresa and swallowed hard. Whatever he wanted to say was lost when he saw the tears welling up in her eyes.
โI wonโt say anything else. Just get some rest. Iโll be right outside if you need me,โ he said. With that, he turned and walked out.
Teresa sat on the bed with a flash of guilt flickering in her eyes.
She thought, โI shouldnโt have said that. Even if itโs just for the baby, at least heโs been running around taking care of me while Iโm in the hospital. I really shouldnโt have snapped at him.โ
She was exhausted. She lay down and tried to get some sleep. She wasnโt sure if Jonathan was really waiting outside, but somehow, she couldnโt help but want to believe him.
When he said, โIt wasnโt me. I didnโt know anything about this. Do you believe me?โ she already trusted him deep down.
But trusting him didnโt mean she trusted his mom. She couldnโt possibly trust Irene, who desperately wanted her to disappear.
Teresa slept straight through and didnโt wake up until after ten. Sunlight streamed in through the gaps in the curtains, and it was a beautiful sunny day.
Chapter 828
She picked up her phone from the table and saw a bunch of missed calls. She froze for a moment. The first person Teresa called back was Miriam, since she had the most missed calls.
โThank God, you finally answered! Seriously, I was freaking out. I thought something bad had happened to you!โ Miriam blurted out.
โMy phone was on silent, and I just woke up. Did something else happen, Miriam?โ Teresa asked.
Miriam let out a laugh. โI just wanted to tell you that everything with the company has been sorted out!โ
Teresa was stunned. โWhat? How?โ
