Chapter 906

Jonathan had already checked Teresa into the hospital. When he went upstairs, he found Teresa insisting on leaving. She refused to stay. "Why wonโ€™t you stay?โ€ he asked.

โ€œIโ€™m fine now. I just donโ€™t want to stay here,โ€ she replied.

โ€œThe doctor said itโ€™s better to observe you closelyโ€“โ€ Jonathan started. Before he could finish, Teresa impatiently brushed his hand away.

โ€œI never had to stay in the hospital this many times when I was pregnant with Mike. Even though I was physically exhausted, at least I was free in my mind. Iโ€™ve never felt this stifled before,โ€ she said.

Jonathan frowned and asked patiently, โ€œWhat happened? Whoโ€™s making you feel this way?โ€

Teresa replied, โ€œI just ran into Yalena in the restroom. I have no grudge against her. Weโ€™ve always minded our own business. If it werenโ€™t for you, she wouldnโ€™t have come after me, and I wouldnโ€™t have to feel so suffocated.

โ€œOnce I have this baby, I wonโ€™t let anyone around you affect me ever again. Honestly, itโ€™d be best if we just stayed out of each otherโ€™s lives for good.โ€ She spun around and stormed off.

Jonathan froze for a moment, then hurried after her. โ€œWait. Where are you going?โ€

Teresa was already in the elevator. Jonathan was a step too late. He jumped into the next elevator and shot downstairs. He caught up to her and grabbed her by the wrist.

โ€œLet go of me,โ€ Teresa demanded, her voice tense.

โ€œCalm down. Itโ€™s so late. Where are you even going?โ€ Jonathan held onto her wrist firmly, but was careful not to hurt her. No matter how much she struggled, he refused to let go.

Teresa said, โ€œIโ€™m going home. I donโ€™t want to stay in the hospital. Iโ€™m not that weak.โ€

โ€œAlright, weโ€™ll go home. Whatever you want,โ€ Jonathan said. โ€œBut first, tell me what exactly Yalena did to you?โ€

โ€œShe didnโ€™t bully me. She called my mom loose, so I slapped her,โ€ Teresa replied.

โ€œAs long as you werenโ€™t bullied,โ€ Jonathan said, his brow relaxed a bit. Still, he shot a worried glance at her belly.

โ€œThe babyโ€™s fine. Itโ€™s not worth risking my health or the babyโ€™s over someone like her,โ€ Teresa explained, forcefully breaking free from Jonathanโ€™s hold and turning to leave again.

Jonathan chased after her once more. The two of them headed back to Forlisle Rose Estates. With Teresa and the baby as his hostages, Jonathan really didnโ€™t dare provoke her now.

โ€œAre you really okay? Please donโ€™t take it out on the baby just because youโ€™re upset,โ€ Jonathan asked, his voice full of concern.

โ€œIโ€™m really fine,โ€ Teresa replied, her face showing no sign of distress. โ€œAnd I meant every word I said earlier.โ€

โ€œI know,โ€ Jonathan said, nodding with difficulty.

Because of him, Teresa had to deal with all kinds of risks and threats in her life. And now, the Kelly family was just one more problem piled on top.

On the way back, Teresa didnโ€™t notice the deep frown on Jonathanโ€™s face. After they got home, he just kept making phone calls for nearly two hours straight. The sky was already brightening outside.

This was destined to be a sleepless night for Jonathan. Just yesterday was his thirty-first birthday, and the peace of that day felt like the heavens had granted him a dream. When he kissed Teresaโ€™s lips, he felt dazed, as if it were all unreal.

At that moment, he was still pondering what he would do if, after three months, he found himself unable to let go. But now, all he cared about was she and the child were safe and sound.

There was a soft knock-knock at Teresaโ€™s door. โ€œCome in,โ€ she said. Jonathan walked in, silent.

Honestly, Teresa hadnโ€™t really slept well either. Actually, back in the restroom, Yalena threw one more line at her. โ€œThereโ€™s no way Jonathanโ€™s mom will ever accept you. So you two? Never gonna happen.โ€ That sentence kept replaying in her head, over and over.
