Chapter 906
Jonathan had already checked Teresa into the hospital. When he went upstairs, he found Teresa insisting on leaving. She refused to stay. "Why wonโt you stay?โ he asked.
โIโm fine now. I just donโt want to stay here,โ she replied.
โThe doctor said itโs better to observe you closelyโโ Jonathan started. Before he could finish, Teresa impatiently brushed his hand away.
โI never had to stay in the hospital this many times when I was pregnant with Mike. Even though I was physically exhausted, at least I was free in my mind. Iโve never felt this stifled before,โ she said.
Jonathan frowned and asked patiently, โWhat happened? Whoโs making you feel this way?โ
Teresa replied, โI just ran into Yalena in the restroom. I have no grudge against her. Weโve always minded our own business. If it werenโt for you, she wouldnโt have come after me, and I wouldnโt have to feel so suffocated.
โOnce I have this baby, I wonโt let anyone around you affect me ever again. Honestly, itโd be best if we just stayed out of each otherโs lives for good.โ She spun around and stormed off.
Jonathan froze for a moment, then hurried after her. โWait. Where are you going?โ
Teresa was already in the elevator. Jonathan was a step too late. He jumped into the next elevator and shot downstairs. He caught up to her and grabbed her by the wrist.
โLet go of me,โ Teresa demanded, her voice tense.
โCalm down. Itโs so late. Where are you even going?โ Jonathan held onto her wrist firmly, but was careful not to hurt her. No matter how much she struggled, he refused to let go.
Teresa said, โIโm going home. I donโt want to stay in the hospital. Iโm not that weak.โ
โAlright, weโll go home. Whatever you want,โ Jonathan said. โBut first, tell me what exactly Yalena did to you?โ
โShe didnโt bully me. She called my mom loose, so I slapped her,โ Teresa replied.
โAs long as you werenโt bullied,โ Jonathan said, his brow relaxed a bit. Still, he shot a worried glance at her belly.
โThe babyโs fine. Itโs not worth risking my health or the babyโs over someone like her,โ Teresa explained, forcefully breaking free from Jonathanโs hold and turning to leave again.
Jonathan chased after her once more. The two of them headed back to Forlisle Rose Estates. With Teresa and the baby as his hostages, Jonathan really didnโt dare provoke her now.
โAre you really okay? Please donโt take it out on the baby just because youโre upset,โ Jonathan asked, his voice full of concern.
โIโm really fine,โ Teresa replied, her face showing no sign of distress. โAnd I meant every word I said earlier.โ
โI know,โ Jonathan said, nodding with difficulty.
Because of him, Teresa had to deal with all kinds of risks and threats in her life. And now, the Kelly family was just one more problem piled on top.
On the way back, Teresa didnโt notice the deep frown on Jonathanโs face. After they got home, he just kept making phone calls for nearly two hours straight. The sky was already brightening outside.
This was destined to be a sleepless night for Jonathan. Just yesterday was his thirty-first birthday, and the peace of that day felt like the heavens had granted him a dream. When he kissed Teresaโs lips, he felt dazed, as if it were all unreal.
At that moment, he was still pondering what he would do if, after three months, he found himself unable to let go. But now, all he cared about was she and the child were safe and sound.
There was a soft knock-knock at Teresaโs door. โCome in,โ she said. Jonathan walked in, silent.
Honestly, Teresa hadnโt really slept well either. Actually, back in the restroom, Yalena threw one more line at her. โThereโs no way Jonathanโs mom will ever accept you. So you two? Never gonna happen.โ That sentence kept replaying in her head, over and over.
