Chapter 937

Yalena knew Jonathan wouldnโ€™t be able to come now, so she flung another stack of photos at Teresa.

In those photos, Lucas looked so vulnerable, eyes closed, cold sweat streaming down his face. Teresa felt like she could crush those pictures in her hand out of sheer anger. โ€œWhat the hell did you do to him?โ€

She tried to yank Yalena out of the car, but Yalena, seeing that Teresa was pregnant, just brushed her off impatiently, completely unfazed. She didnโ€™t care at all that Teresa was pregnant.

โ€œListen up. Iโ€™ll tell you exactly what I did to your brother.โ€ Yalenaโ€™s voice was cold and merciless. And then, in the next second, she dropped a bombshell that made Teresaโ€™s heart stop and her world shatter.

โ€œI didnโ€™t just have him beaten up. I also got a bunch of strong men toโ€ฆ you know, ruin him in every way possible. I tried all sorts of things on him, candles, whips, nails, andโ€ฆโ€

โ€œEnough!โ€ Teresa couldnโ€™t take it anymore. She stared at Yalena with a look that could kill. โ€œHow dare you do this to my family? I swear, I will never let you get away with it.โ€

Yalena burst out laughing. โ€œHa! Look at you, all pregnant. What can you possibly do to me? Your brotherโ€™s barely alive after what I put him through, and itโ€™s all your fault. You and Jonathan pissed me off. Your brother totally deserves it.โ€

With that, Yalena drove off, looking smug as hell. Teresa wanted to chase after her, but suddenly, all her strength left her. A sharp pain shot through her stomach. The photos were scattered all over the ground.

Even though the pain was almost unbearable, Teresa gritted her teeth and crouched down, forcing herself to gather up all the photos of Lucas from the ground. She didnโ€™t want any outsiders to see him looking so miserable.

The more she saw his face in those photos, the more her heart sank. She shouldโ€™ve realized it earlier. When she called Lucas before, something about the way he talked just felt off.

But Teresa never wouldโ€™ve thought heโ€™d end up getting hurt like this. Cold sweat streamed down her forehead. Her vision went completely dark.

Not until she painstakingly picked up the last photo from the ground and put it away did she finally stop. She was swaying, barely able to stand, and finally her body gave out.

โ€œMs. Johnston!โ€ The voices of several doctors rang out right by her ear. โ€œHurry, get a stretcher!โ€ One of the doctors shouted right next to her.

โ€œSheโ€™s going into premature labor. Itโ€™s critical. Someone contact the blood bank for a transfusion, now!โ€

Teresaโ€™s vision went blurry. Sweat drenched her neck and soaked her clothes. She grabbed a doctorโ€™s arm, her voice barely a whisper. โ€œTell Jonathanโ€ฆ save Lucas.โ€

โ€œMs. Johnston, you need to focus on yourself right now. Hurry, get more doctors over here to help with the delivery!โ€

Suddenly, harsh lights blazed down on Teresa, so bright she couldnโ€™t even open her eyes. She was barely conscious, but she could feel a ventilator being fitted over her face. After all this time trying to protect her baby, it was still coming early.

โ€œMs. Johnston, take a deep breath. You have to deliver the baby now.โ€

Teresa shook her head in confusion, totally drained. โ€˜Did they give me something for the pain? Why does it still hurt so much? Am I really going to die in childbirth, struggling like this?โ€™ Teresa thought, despair washing over her.

She refused to accept her fate. She still had no idea what had happened to Lucas. She needed to save him. Yalena was still out there, free and unpunished.

She had always believed that by protecting her baby and doing good deeds, karma would be on her side. But Irene and Yalena had still treated her so cruelly. Memories flashed through her mind.
