“You should stay away from Teresa from now on. Seriously, you two are better off living your own lives!” Miriam snapped.

“Hey, hey, that’s enough. Jonathan’s already feeling terrible, you know. Do you even realize he…” Benny tried to say, but trailed off.

“What do I know, huh? Tell me, what do I know?” Miriam snapped, cutting Benny off impatiently. “Tell me where I’m wrong! If you really want to get remarried, then act like it, at least protect your wife and kid. After all this, you still think you deserve another chance? Sorry, but I’m Team Teresa now. And your mom?

“Ugh. You know exactly what kind of person she is. Who’s to say she won’t try the same thing with Teresa? She only dares to mess with Teresa because Teresa’s too nice for her own good.”

Benny rubbed his temples. “Miriam, that’s enough, okay? Let’s not go overboard.”

“Enough? I’m just getting started!” Miriam shot back, her anger only growing. She was so mad, she just kept going, getting more and more fired up with every word. “Honestly, Teresa must’ve had the worst luck ever just for being friends with you. She finally managed to get divorced, and then she ended up pregnant with your kid. And your mom? She’s always got it out for her.

“The day Teresa came to Jarisburg, I called her and warned her to watch her back around your mom. Your mom was even plotting with Edward’s mom about how to settle the score with Teresa.

“I have no idea what Teresa ever did to deserve all this, but your mom’s always looking for a reason to go after her. Is your mom going through menopause or what? She seriously needs to get that checked out!

“Teresa might not be as loaded as you are now, but back when you were broke, she never said a single bad thing about you. So why does your mom treat her like crap now? Just because you’ve got some cash?”

“Alright, alright, that’s enough. Jonathan’s never looked down on Teresa,” Benny jumped in to stop her. “Seriously, this time you can’t blame Jonathan’s mom. It was Yalena. Jonathan almost lost it and killed Yalena.”

Edward was so shocked, it felt like his hair was standing on end. That actually shook Miriam too. She had to take a second to steady herself.

“Yalena? Wasn’t she just another mess Jonathan’s mom stirred up? Bottom line, why did Teresa end up having a premature birth? It’s all because of his mom!”

Jonathan didn’t say a single word in his own defense. Miriam had absolutely torn into him, and he just sat there and took it all, not even trying to argue back. “You’re right. I’m mostly to blame for all of this.”

“Hmph, as long as you know it,” Miriam sniffed, her words laced with biting sarcasm.

A bodyguard walked in. He leaned in close to Jonathan’s ear and whispered something quietly.

Jonathan spoke up. “I need to step out for a bit.”

Seeing Jonathan rush out, Edward hurriedly asked Benny, “Is he going to kill someone again?”

Benny rolled his eyes. “Again? Seriously, can you not say stuff like that?”

“So what is he going out to do then?” Edward asked anxiously.

“How should I know? But trust me, he’s definitely not going out to kill anyone,” Benny replied.

Edward patted his chest, looking relieved. “Whew, that’s a load off. You scared the crap out of me. I seriously thought he was about to go full psycho killer or something.”

Irene flew in, and Jonathan went to pick her up. They took the underground elevator, and Irene still had no clue what Jonathan wanted from her.

Jonathan didn’t say a word. He yanked Irene by the arm and pulled her straight into the room where the baby was. The baby was lying in the incubator. He wanted her to see for herself.
