Than didnโt hear that. He went to get some doctors.
The doctors examined Teresa, gently lifting her eyelids. They guessed she was trapped in a nightmare and said it was best not to wake her up forcefully, as it could frighten her.
โSo when will my wife wake up?โ Jonathan asked.
โMr. Lynn, itโs just like when someoneโs dreaming. Once the dream is over, sheโll wake up,โ the doctor replied.
Jonathanโs frown eased a bit. He finally felt like he could breathe a little easier.
Just as Jonathan was about to take Teresaโs hand, Miriam suddenly rushed in, shouting, โTeresa!โ
She shoved Jonathan aside and dashed straight to Teresa.
Miriam was being totally overbearing, not letting Jonathan anywhere near Teresa. She clung tightly to Teresaโs hand, looking super anxious, and hurried to wipe the sweat from her forehead.
Just like Jonathan, Miriam anxiously asked the doctors about Teresaโs condition. The doctors explained honestly what was going on.
โTeresa, donโt be afraid, Iโm here, and Iโll protect you from now on,โ Miriam said, holding Teresaโs hand. With Miriamโs comforting words, Teresaโs emotions gradually settled down, but she still didnโt wake up.
Jonathan stared at Teresa without blinking, his gaze never leaving her for a second.
Michael stayed right by Teresaโs side, sometimes nuzzling his little face against hers, eyes brimming with tears. โMommy, please wake up, okay? If you sleep too long, you wonโt get any tallerโฆโ Michael whimpered.
Miriam gently patted Michaelโs head, her heart aching for him. She looked at Jonathan and said, โYou should go. Mike and I will stay here with Teresa. Weโre her real family.โ
Jonathan didnโt say a word. He stayed right where he was, refusing to leave Teresaโs side. And then his phone suddenly rang.
Jonathan glanced at the caller ID and frowned. โIโm stepping out for a moment,โ he said. He turned to the doctors and added, โIf anything happens to my wife, notify me immediately.โ
Eason had come to Jarisburg. He was the one who took the initiative to contact Jonathan. The moment Jonathan saw Eason, he punched him right in the face.
Eason, a man in his fifties, stumbled back a step.
โMr. Kelly!โ A couple of bodyguards tried to help him up, but Eason pushed them away. He raised his hand, signaling the bodyguards to back off. โYou guys go wait in the car. I need to talk to Mr. Lynn alone.โ
โYes, Mr. Kelly,โ the bodyguards replied.
Once only Eason and Jonathan were left in the room, Eason fixed his gaze on Jonathan, whose expression was icy and unyielding.
โYour daughter hired thugs to attack my wifeโs brother, deliberately provoked her, and caused her to go into premature labor. I swear, I wonโt ever let your family get away with this,โ Jonathan said coldly.
Eason gave a knowing โOhโ and said, โI checked with the police. The other guy just had some superficial wounds.โ
โSuperficial wounds?โ Jonathan didnโt buy it. โJust wait for the injury report to come out. Take a good look for yourself and see if itโs really just superficial wounds.โ
โThe injury report is already out. Otherwise, I wouldnโt have come to talk to you!โ Eason shot back.
โNo oneโs going to believe that report. Iโll have another assessment done, and I wonโt stop until your daughter ends up in jail,โ Jonathan said coldly.
Eason was stunned. Lucas had only suffered minor injuries, but Jonathan would never acknowledge that. He never would.
Eason took a deep breath, clenching his fists. โI was ready to call it even. But you just have to make things difficult. Look what you did to my daughter. Sheโs wrapped head to toe in bandages.โ
Thinking about Yalenaโs injuries, Eason swung at Jonathan, but Jonathan caught his fist before it could land.
