Chapter 220: It Must Taste Delicious
Zachary glanced at Vincent, stroking his beard, a glint of excitement flashing in his eyes. Vincent was easily swayed by a pretty faceโhis greatest pleasure in life was chasing women. The moment he saw Claireโs photo, his eyes went wide. He was completely caught up in it, barely aware of Zacharyโs watchful gaze. When he heard Zacharyโs astonished words, his attention was fully on Claire.
โZachary, do you know this woman?โ Vincent asked, his curiosity piqued.
Vincent and Zachary had known each other for a while, their bond forged over shared interestsโof course, that shared interest was women.
โOf course I do. What? You donโt know her?โ Zachary replied, his jaw almost dropping in disbelief.
โNo,โ Vincent shook his head.
โDamn! Youโve got to be kidding me, man. This is the daughter of the Prescott familyโthe little princess of the wealthiest family. But the truth is, she killed someone and went to prison. Sheโs just been released. Otherwise, how could she be working at Hiokech Group? And sheโs not even a Prescott.โ
Vincent blinked in disbelief. โWhat? Youโre kidding, right?โ
Zachary chuckled. โYou seriously donโt know? It was all over the news years agoโthe whole fake heiress scandal. But, of course, the Prescott family swept it all under the rug.โ He leaned back with a smirk, savoring the moment. โNo one dares talk about the Prescott family. But now, this little princessโsheโs probably barely hanging on by a thread.โ
Zachary paused, then added, โOh, by the way, didnโt you say she works at Hiokech Group? That reminds meโthere was a rumor I heard not long ago. Apparently, this Prescott family princess has been released, and now sheโs struggling just to get by. She even applied to a big company for an internship. Makes sense now, doesnโt it? How else would she be here, working at Hiokech?โ
Zachary deliberately probed, testing the waters. If Vincent knew about Claireโs engagement to Frederick, there was a way heโd dare make a move.
Vincent, looking increasingly confused, scratched his head. โI donโt know why youโre so surprised. I was overseas for years, remember? I only came back because things got messy with my wifeโshe was trying to move assets around. My whole lifeโs been chaos, and you think I had time to keep up with news like this?โ
He slumped back, a pained look crossing his face as he thought of his domestic troubles.
โYeah, I know all about that,โ Zachary said with a sigh, feigning regret. โMan, if only you didnโt have that wife of yours. Just think about the Prescott familyโs little princessโpampered her whole life, delicate, soft. She must be absolutely irresistible.โ He sighed again, his expression a fall of mock helplessness, but every word was calculated to entice Vincent further. He knew Vincent was in a bad place, and he was feeding into it. Vincent needed to blow off some steam, and Zachary was happy to provide the bucket.
With that, Zachary turned and returned to his massage table. Meanwhile, Vincent lay there, distracted, his thoughts consumed by Claireโs photo. His phone buzzed incessantly with messages from her, each one more urgent than the last. Claire was desperate to meet him.
โZachary,โ Vincent suddenly said, sitting up, his voice tight with impatience. โI just remembered something I need to take care of! You go ahead, enjoy your massage.โ He couldnโt sit still any longer. He quickly got up and walked out of the massage room.
The moment he stepped outside, he pulled out his phone and typed a reply to Claire: [In that case, letโs meet, Ms. Prescott.]
Zachary watched Vincent hurry off with a knowing smile, a smug chuckle escaping his lips. โHa, you pervy thing, I know exactly what youโre up to,โ Zachary muttered under his breath, pleased with the way things were playing out.
