Chapter 230: The Agony
Claireโs sweat fell due to the unbearable pain radiating from her forehead, neck, and every pore of her body. She was in such agony that her consciousness blurred, and her body trembled uncontrollably. At this moment, it was difficult for her even to speak, let alone think of how to deal with Alan. The intense pain caused a wave of dizziness.
Now, she was barely standing with Alanโs support; if he pulled the dagger from her body, Claire would collapse to the ground instantly.
โSomeone, bring her medicine,โ a voice called.
Seeing Claire on the verge of fainting, Alan finally smiled with satisfaction and let her go. As soon as he stood up, Claire fell to the ground.
Soon after, someone came to dress Claireโs wound and administer medicine, which eased her pain somewhat. Although she still felt the heart-wrenching pain, at least she wouldnโt faint. Perhaps due to the painkillers, Claire gradually felt the pain lessen, and her rationality returned.
She had known what kind of people terrorists were and what inhuman torture she would suffer. What she didnโt expect was that when the moment came, even with all her efforts, she still couldnโt face it calmly and react accordingly. Fortunately, she had endured four years of inhuman torture in prison before; otherwise, she might not have survived that stab. Ironically, she really should thank Frederick for sending her to prison back then.
โCan we continue our talk now?โ she asked.
After brewing a plan in her heart for a long time, Claire looked at Alanโs back and spoke again. โUnder such circumstances, you still want to negotiate with me. Iโm genuinely more interested in you.โ
Alan, of course, wouldnโt easily trust Claire, but after that stab, he at least let his guard down a bit. Claire knew that Alan meant he was willing. Now was the best time, and she must seize it.
She moved her body slightly, finding a comfortable position before speaking, โAlthough I feel the piercing pain and want to stab you, I know I canโt compete with you. I know itโs just a pipe dream. I also know that Frederick killed your brother. I am his fiancรฉe. Itโs reasonable for you to hate me.
โBut I think you should at least send someone to investigate my relationship with Frederick properly. As the leader of the worldโs largest terrorist organization, you havenโt even figured out the matter between Frederick and me.
โIs it your incompetence, or has your organization not been as powerful as before since your brotherโs death? Now youโre just a ragtag groupโฆ Ah!โ
Just as Claire said this, Alan angrily rushed over and forcefully grabbed her wound. โWoman, donโt forget you are in my hands. I can take your life with a twitch of my finger!โ
โOf courseโฆ I know. You canโฆ just kill meโฆ Anyway, if I canโt negotiate well with youโฆ I canโtโฆ leave here alive.โ
Claire took a deep breath, enduring the pain, and looked directly into Alanโs eyes. โIf you canโt bring me anything of value, I will make you regret being born into this world.โ
Alan examined Claire for a few more seconds before slowly releasing his grip.
โMr. Gonzalesโฆโ
At this moment, a henchman came over, seemingly with something important to report. Seeing Claire there, he tactfully closed his mouth.
โSpeak!โ Alan didnโt care about Claire at all.
โFrederick has arrived at the location we designated.โ The henchman looked at Claire, bowed his head respectfully, and reported.
โSend someone to bring him here!โ Alan suddenly sneered, staring intently at Claire, and instructed his henchman.
After the henchman left, Alan came over, caressed Claireโs cheek, and slowly slid his hand down into her clothes. โContinue.โ
