Chapter 290: Get a Bunch of Hotties
As Caroline let her thoughts wander, that familiar craving started bubbling up again. She could feel itโshe was already getting wet. It was like sheโd developed a serious addiction to sex. Before she ever slept with a man, she had no idea she was like this. She remembered reading something online once, about a certain type of womanโalways wet, always sensitive, always wanting it.
Caroline hated to admit it, but after everything lately, she felt like she was exactly that kind of womanโa slut. She scoffed to herself. For some reason, she felt ready to just let it all go. Sheโd tried to be with Frederick, but he didnโt seem interested at all. She could stand there, stripped bare, and he still wouldnโt react. But with Claire, it was different. Sheโd never forget the sounds she heard from outside Claireโs door. This idea weighed down her shame.
Caroline loved Frederick and desperately wanted to be with him. Should she go out and find her own fun? She wanted Frederick, but she wanted to feel good tooโshe wanted it all. Four years of trying, giving her allโand what did she get in return? No. From now on, she was going to live for herself. Completely for herself.
When she wanted a good time, sheโd go find Zachary. No, not just Zacharyโthere were plenty of men out there. She could go to a bar, book a room, hell, even pay for it if she wanted to. Yeah, sheโd get the young ones, the hot ones, the ones whoโd sweet-talk herโones who could keep going all night. With Zachary, it was always her putting in the work, but if she was the one paying, things would be different. She could pick and choose, get exactly what she wanted, as many as she wanted. She could get a whole bunch of hotties just to serve her. And the money? Sheโd get it from Frederick. No money, no loyaltyโwhy should she have given everything to him for the last four years? Sheโd put in the effort, and she deserved something in return.
With that thought, Caroline cleaned herself up, got dressed, and told Zachary she was heading back to the Halfmoon Manor. Zachary knew Caroline couldnโt stay here foreverโFrederick would get suspiciousโso he didnโt question it. By the time Caroline got back to the Halfmoon Manor, it was already 8 p.m., and Frederick still wasnโt home. She thought about it for a moment, then picked up her phone and called him.
Over at the Kingstown Security Department, Frederick was fuming after another failed search for Claire. Heโd just wrapped up a meeting where heโd vented his frustration. Back in his office, he saw his phone buzzingโit was Caroline. โWhat is it?โ He answered, his voice cold.
โFrederick, today at school, they humiliated me. They said I have no parents, no sister, that no one loves me. They said I canโt afford anything, that I wear rags, and they pushed me and hit me.โ Before, Caroline wouldโve been hurt by Frederickโs tone. But today, she had one goalโto get moneyโso she didnโt care how he spoke to her. She started by using Anna, the perfect excuse sheโd leaned on forโฆ
โIโll have someone send you some money.โ As soon as Frederick heard her mention Anna, his demeanor softened. He promised to send her money, but before she could respond, he hung up. Caroline listened to the dial tone, feeling a pang in her chest. In the past, Frederick wouldโve tried to comfort her. But nowโฆ She scoffed. Whatever. She was about to take his money and spend it on young guys. Shouldnโt she be happy about that? With that thought, she started to feel a lot better.
Frederick didnโt waste any timeโwithin ten minutes, Carolineโs account had a hefty deposit. She counted itโone hundred and fifty dollars. Enough to keep her entertained for a while. She made a point to call someone about needing to head back to school, making sure the maid overheard. Then, cash in hand, she headed straight for Nightfall Club.
She chose that place because four years ago, it was where Anna had gotten into trouble. Caroline figured it was Frederickโs sore spotโthere was no way heโd ever set foot in there. And she was rightโFrederick wouldnโt come there, but that didnโt mean no one else would. Just as she walked inside, a young man, probably in his twenties, appeared around the corner.
