Chapter 312: Women's Hell
Claire was taken aback, a sudden shock hitting her like a thunderclap. She stood there, stunned, unable to react. She thought, โDid I hear that right? What did Harrison just say? Frederick handed me over to him for disposal, and now heโs here to take my life?โ
โHeh, Mr. Prescott, are you joking? Murder is illegal. How could you, of all people, break the law?โ Claire forced a smile, though she was inwardly panicking. Her steps instinctively took a step back.
โClaire, you know murder is illegal. So, when you attacked Anna four years ago, did you not think you would pay with your own life? Come, take her away!โ Harrisonโs eyes narrowed as he gave the order to have Claire controlled.
โWait!โ Claire quickly intervened.
โWhat? Do you think you have the right to resist?โ Harrison turned, sneering.
โI am not resisting,โ Claire answered. โI just want to make a phone call.โ
โTo Frederick? You do not believe he has handed you over to me, or do you think a phone call will change his mind?โ
โLet me tell you, Claire, do not waste your time. If he is willing to hand you over to me, it means you are not important to him at all.โ
โKneeling before him would also not help. You have no use anymore.โ Harrison immediately assumed Claire wanted to call Frederick.
โNo, I am not calling Frederick, I am calling Antony,โ Claire shook her head. Actually, Claire knew that calling Frederick would not help. And now, having calmed down, she was not as panicked. Claire thought, โAfter all, I was Frederickโs fiancรฉe. I had publicly gotten engaged to Frederick at Elizabethโs birthday banquet. How could Harrison just kill me? My biggest concern now was still Antony. If Antony did not hear from me today, he might cause trouble at Halfmoon Manor. At that point, anything could happen.โ
โAlright, have someone give her the phone.โ Harrison had never expected that the person Claire wanted to call at this moment was Antony. He suddenly laughed and ordered his men to hand the phone to Claire. Harrison thought, โCalling Antony?โ Great! I could record it and let Frederick listen. At the most critical moment, who was the woman thinking of?โ Claire did not know Harrisonโs intentions. She quickly grabbed the phone and dialed Antony.
โClaire, how are you? Are you alright? I have called you so many times, and you did not pick up, I was so worried.โ Antony was already halfway to Halfmoon Manor, hailing a cab.
โI am fine, Antony. You go to the office and ask for leave for me. I may not be able to go to work for now, but do not worry, I am fine. I am just letting you know I am safe. After all, I am Frederickโs fiancรฉe. He would not do anything to me. I will be able to go back to work soon, so do not worryโฆโ Claire reassured him until Antony finally agreed. โAlright, as long as you are fine. You do not need to worry about the office, I am here.โ
Antony understood that going to Halfmoon Manor would not help Claire. He thought, โIf it angered Frederick, Claire would be the one to suffer. As long as Claire was safe, I could relax.โ
โOkay.โ Claire nodded, finally relieved. She hung up and handed the phone back to Harrison. โWe can go now.โ
โClaire, during the time you have disappeared, have you been with that Antony?โ Harrison sneered as he took the phone.
โWhat Antony and I do is none of your business. Mr. Prescott, I am sure this does not matter to you, does it? Besides, even if I tell you, would you believe me?โ Claire struggled to suppress her emotions, trying to stay calm. After all, Harrison was the brother who had pampered her for over 20 years. Just seeing his face made her emotions rise involuntarily.
โFine, Claire. I hope you will still be so stubborn later. Take her away!โ Harrison tightened his grip and ignored the prison video footages he had just seen. He led Claire out of Halfmoon Manor.
Not long after they left, Frederick received a call.
โGeneral Hawthorne, Ms. Prescott has been taken by Mr. Prescott.โ
โMm.โ Frederick nodded. Just as he was halfway out, Nathan called and asked him back to Prescott Manor. So, he headed there directly.
โButโฆMr. Prescott is headed toward the Crimson Lane.โ Richard, who had been watching Harrisonโs car leave, furrowed his brows.
โWhat?โ Frederickโs palm tightened. He thought, โThe Crimson Lane, the hell for women in Kingstown. Women who entered never came out alive. Even their bodies were mutilated beyond recognition.โ
