Chapter 356: Claireโs Last Wish
Antony was instantly stunned. He lowered his head, gazing at the fragments that had pierced Frederickโs heart. Why couldnโt he believe his eyes? Frederick stood before him, passively allowing the fragments in Antonyโs hand to pierce him.
Coming back to his senses, Antony suddenly laughed wildly. โFrederick, you finally feel heartache and guilt, so you want to pay for Claireโs life with your own, right? But I tell you, your life can never be exchanged for hers. Claire is such a loving, warm, and kind person, and her life is much more valuable than your indifferent and murderous life.โ
As Antony finished speaking, Frederick fainted. โAntony, youโre crazy! General Hawthorne! Someone come! Doctor!โ Richard kicked Antony out and shouted for a doctor at the door. Soon, the doctor arrived.
Fortunately, the fragment in Antonyโs hand was not long enough to fully penetrate Frederickโs heart.
โItโs alright, and General Hawthorne is not in danger. He just didnโt get enough rest these days, and he hasnโt recovered yet. He fainted because of the injury. You take good care of him and donโt let anything happen to him again.โ
Finishing the examination, the doctor gave some instructions and left. Richard looked at the unconscious Frederick on the bed and sent someone to check Antonyโs ward. โYou guys stay in the ward and guard him tightly. No one is allowed to let him out without my order.โ Giving the instructions, Richard returned to Frederickโs ward.
However, Frederick remained in a coma for a very long time. He had a very long dream. He dreamed he returned to his childhood, when he and Claire grew up together happily. There was no real or fake heiress. Anna had never appeared, and there was no Caroline. He and Claire got together naturally and smoothly, and even got married.
However, on their wedding night, Frederick was holding her, looking forward to a bright future, when, for some unknown reason, Claire started bleeding profusely and died of blood loss in his arms.
โClaire!โ Frederick shouted, waking up from his dream, drenched in cold sweat. โGeneral Hawthorne, you finally woke up. How do you feel now?โ Richard rushed over.
Frederick saw him and looked around the ward before regaining his senses. He thought about how he was hospitalized in a coma because he hadnโt had a good rest for a long time, and he thought about how Claire had already died in the car accident.
โItโs okay, and letโs go back to the Kingstown Security Department,โ Frederick paused and said. โWhat about Antony?โ Richard remembered Antony, who was being guarded in the adjacent ward, and asked.
โLet him go,โ Frederick said, then stood up and left the hospital. Richard stared at his receding back in a daze for a long time. In the end, he followed Frederickโs orders and released Antony.
Richard was afraid that Antony would still not give up, so he told him the whole story of Claireโs car accident. However, he still chose to conceal the truth and deliberately described her car crash as an accident. Since it was an accident, Antony had no reason to pursue Frederickโs involvement any further.
He only felt extremely guilty, blaming himself for not leaving with Claire and accompanying her to the hospital. If so, even if they were to die, they could have died together.
After that day, everything seemed to be back on track. Frederick went to work, went home from work, ate, and rested normally. He never fell into a coma again, and nothing else happened. After being in low spirits for a few days, Antony also went back to work at the Hiokeeh Group. He thought that since Claire was gone, he had to fulfill her wishes.
Soon, half a month passed. That day, there was a family dinner at the Hawthorne Manor, and Arthur and Frederick both returned. Nathan said he had something important to announce. But as soon as he arrived at the Hawthorne Manor, Arthurโs cell phone rang. โMr. Arthur Hawthorne, that woman is awake.โ
