Chapter 418: She’s Coming Back

A man stepped out, glanced at Richard, who was chasing Zachary, and picked up his phone to make a call.

“Mr. Hawthorne, you were right. Richard found Zachary quickly and has already made his move. If nothing unexpected happens, he’ll catch up and take him down soon.”

This man was none other than Shawn, Arthur’s secretary. Shawn had come here specifically to witness the confrontation between Richard and Zachary. Though it was just a simple act of tossing a grenade, Shawn still got a firsthand look at Richard’s skills.

Unlike Richard, Shawn had always stayed by Arthur’s side in Kingstown. As Arthur’s secretary, he had never been on a battlefield or experienced any real combat. Even when there were riots or terrorist attacks in Kingstown, it was always handled by the police or the military. Neither Arthur nor Shawn ever had to get directly involved.

Now, with the presidential election at such a critical juncture, they had to be vigilant against potential assassination attempts. Arthur and Shawn had already made plans to deal with Frederick. Previously, they had tried to test the waters, but Shawn wasn’t on the scene and didn’t witness the outcome himself. This time, however, he saw Richard’s skills up close. That swift and precise kick to deflect the grenade was enough to show the vast difference in abilities between himself and Richard.

If Shawn had been in Richard’s shoes, he would have instinctively chosen to run. His nerves weren’t as steady since he’d never been in combat situations.

“Alright, let them take him down. Zachary’s just bait anyway. Since Frederick has already started digging into who’s behind all this, we might as well throw a scapegoat his way,” Arthur said, his tone calculated. Arthur had already devised a plan. Otherwise, there was no way Richard could’ve found Zachary’s trail so quickly.

“But Frederick isn’t easy to fool,” Shawn said, his worry evident.

“Of course not. If he were, he wouldn’t be my brother. He wouldn’t have earned the rank of general or be in charge of the entire Kingstown Security Department,” Arthur said with a smirk.

“But fooling him for a while will suffice. After all, we’ve got two more surprises for my dear brother. The best one is still to come,” Arthur added, his grin widening.

Speaking of surprises, Arthur asked, “By the way, how’s the situation with that woman overseas?”

“Everything’s ready, Mr. Hawthorne. She’ll be back in less than a week. Then we can sit back and watch the show. But for her to get close to Frederick, we still need an opportunity,” Shawn replied.

“Don’t worry about that. I’ve already had someone handle it. By now, she’s probably received the message. Finish up there and come back,” Arthur said.

“As for Richard’s skills, don’t worry too much. Winning the presidency isn’t about brute strength. Besides, I doubt the public wants a military government running this country. At least on this front, we’ve got it in the bag!” Arthur added smugly.

Arthur raised his brows in satisfaction and ended the call.

“Yes, I understand, Mr. Hawthorne.”

Hearing this, Shawn felt much less worried. He ended the call and headed back.

Elsewhere, Caroline was still lying in Zachary’s basement, in utter agony. Suddenly, her phone buzzed with a new message. Caroline instinctively picked up her phone, intending just to glance at it. Instead, she found an unexpected message waiting.

[I can help you deal with Claire!]

If it had just been that single line, Caroline wouldn’t have cared. After all, that woman overseas had tried to trick her before. But this time, there was also a video attached. And the face in the video was one she knew all too well. It was none other than her sister, Anna Beaumont, the one she had grown up with.
