Chapter 55: Get It Done First
After Emma finished speaking, Lily Robinson, who was on the other end of the phone, hesitated. Since coming to the Eclipse Nightclub, Lily had always followed Emmaโs lead. She obeyed her in everything. Of course, Emma introduced her to many easy-to-please clients, earning her quite a bit of tips. Lily had relied on Emma to get by. Emma kept helping Lily because she wanted to build her own influence at Eclipse Nightclub.
She not only wanted to surpass Emily and become the top earner but also aimed to replace Hannah. However, this plan had been stalled for years because Hannah was just too powerful. It seemed like someone influential had always been supporting her from behind the scenes.
When Caroline and Diana came to Emma with an offer of ten million dollars, she agreed without hesitation. Since she couldnโt replace Hannah, earning a fortune and running away with the person she loved to live a carefree life wasnโt a bad alternative.
But she hadnโt anticipated that the newcomer, Claire, would be so difficult to deal with. With the million dollars slipping through her fingers, Emma developed a deep hatred for Claire.
Moreover, a newcomer like Claire, in such a short time, became very popular at the underground Eclipse Nightclub. Even the wealthiest young heirs, who rarely showed up, had come specifically asking for Claire by name. Naturally, this only fueled Emmaโs jealousy. Diana and Caroline told her that even though she had failed the previous task, as long as she could handle Claire at the Eclipse Nightclub, the reward might not be ten million dollars, but it would still be substantial.
Emma hated Claire and wanted to make money. Now that she had a chance to do both.
โLily, have I ever let you down when Iโve asked you to do something? This time wonโt be any different. But if you donโt do it, donโt expect me to call you for any good opportunities in the future.โ
Seeing Lily hesitate, Emma urged her, keeping an eye on the area around the VIP room where the wealthy heirs were.
โIโll do it! Emma, just tell me what to do, and Iโll do it!โ Lily hesitated for a moment, then gritted her teeth and agreed.
โNow thatโs the spirit! Listen closely, hereโs what you need to doโฆโ Emma smirked, lowering her voice as she walked toward a quieter spot with her phone.
โAlright, I understand, Emma. Iโll go now.โ After hearing Emmaโs instructions, Lily hung up and went to find Claire.
โClaire, great news! I have to tell you, it looks like you made quite an impression on Neil last night. As soon as we opened today, someone specifically asked for you. You need to go, now!โ
Out of breath, Lily burst into the room and grabbed Claire, who was in the middle of cleaning.
โWhat? Someone asked for me by name?โ Claire paused, her mop still in hand, and looked up, startled.
โYes, they asked for you by name! Come on, forget about cleaning. You donโt make any money cleaning, and thereโs no performance bonus. But if you serve the guests, you can earn tips! Hurry, Iโll finish up here for you later.โ
Lily pushed Claire all the way to Joshuaโs VIP room. Inside, Joshua had already downed several bottles of hard liquor. In the dim lighting, he didnโt even notice whether the person who entered was Emma or not.
โGet over here!โ As soon as he saw someone come in, he waved Claire over.
Lily crouched outside the door, peeking through the slightly open crack. Just as Emma had said, every time this old man came here, he drank himself into oblivion and then ordered more bottles of liquor. He was too drunk to know who was who. As long as Claire kept quiet, nothing would happen. Even if Claire did speak up, by the time the man reached this state, he wouldnโt care who the woman was. Heโd just get on with it.
She thought, โClaire, Iโm sorry. I didnโt mean for this to happen, but I donโt have a choice. If you want to survive here, you have to pick a side. Please donโt blame me!โ Lily took a deep breath, silently apologized to Claire in her heart, and closed the door behind her.
โSir, did you specifically ask for me? Iโฆโ Inside the room, Claire cautiously approached Joshua, keeping her head down and bowing respectfully. Since arriving at the underground Eclipse Nightclub, she had only served Neil the night before. Joshua was her second client. What happened with Neil had left her shaken, so now, facing Joshua, she was even more nervous.
โPretending again, are you? Little slut, youโve always had so many tricks. I really do love that about you. What? Trying something new today? Come on, serve me well, and all this money is yours!โ Joshua squinted at her, lounging on the sofa, and pulled out a wad of cash from his wallet, throwing it straight at Claireโs face.
