Chapter 81: Seductress
Frederick didnโt even glance at his phone before swiping at the screen and placing it face-down on the table. At that moment, he had no mind to answer any calls. With the alcohol running through his system, his thoughts were entirely focused on Claire, who was right in front of him. Frederick didnโt realize his swipe hadnโt hung up the call; it had answered it.
โHello? Frederick, where are you?โ
Caroline had only intended to call Frederick as usual. Hearing the call connect, she casually asked.
โAh! Be gentler, Frederick.โ
Frederick was teasing Claire, his hands wandering, and Claire couldnโt help but let out small noises. They were both too caught up to hear the phone. On the other end of the line, Caroline heard everything clearly. That voice was Claire. Caroline recognized it instantly. Caroline was shocked and clenched her phone so hard her knuckles turned white.
Meanwhile, Frederick and Claire, still oblivious to the call, were lost in the heat of the moment. Their breath came in ragged gasps.
โTell me, do you want it?โ โYes.โ โHow much?โ โSo much. I want you to take me, hard!โ
Every word hit Caroline like a hammer. She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. Furious, she threw her phone onto the ground.
โUgh!โ
After smashing her phone, Caroline screamed in rage and threw a nearby glass to the floor. Still unsatisfied, she began trashing other items around the room.
โClaire, you wretched woman! How dare you seduce Frederick like this! Claire, youโre dead! Iโll make sure you regret this for the rest of your lifeโฆโ
Caroline screamed and destroyed everything in sight like a woman possessed. After venting her rage, Caroline collapsed beside the bed, staring blankly. After a while, she noticed her phone on the floor. Realizing it wasnโt broken, she picked it up and immediately called Diana.
โHey, Caroline? Itโs late, whatโs going on?โ
Diana was almost asleep, having already gotten ready for bed. She answered the call with her eyes still half-closed and the phone pressed to her ear.
โDianaโฆ sobโฆ Frederickโฆ Frederickโฆโ
The moment Caroline started speaking, she was already sobbing uncontrollably. Part of it was an act, but her hatred and frustration were genuine.
โWhatโs wrong, Caroline? What happened? Talk to me, donโt cry!โ
Hearing Caroline sob so hard, Diana instantly sat up in bed, now wide awake.
โDiana, whyโฆ why does Frederick have to be with Claireโฆ Iโm not asking him to be with me, but why must it be her? Claire killed my sister, I hate her! Frederick could be with anyone, but why herโฆโ
Just like always, Caroline played the victim. She was weak, innocent, and pitiful.
โThatโs impossible, Caroline. Frederick hates Claire. Thereโs no way heโd be with her. Are you sure you didnโt misunderstand?โ
Diana refused to believe that Frederick would ever be involved with Claire. After all, with Annaโs death hanging over everything, everyone knew how much Frederick despised Claire.
โItโs true, I heard it! I called him, and they wereโฆ in bed together! Claire must have seen the phone and answered it on purpose.โ
โDiana, what should I do? I never thought Claire would be this manipulative. My sister will never rest in peaceโฆโ
Caroline manipulated the situation, using Annaโs death to provoke Diana further.
โWhat?! That tramp Claire really has a death wish!โ
