Chapter 22
The hotel staff hesitated for a long time, but after Jonathan offered a large sum of money, their expressions brightened, and they quickly handed over Anna's contact details. He dialed the number, but no one answered.
"She's probably still on the plane," he mused.
To show Anna his sincerity and determination to apologize, he published a letter of apology online. He detailed the steps he had taken to understand his actions and mistakes. He also wrote about how he had come to understand his feelings and mistakes. His attitude was genuinely remorseful, and almost every day, he posted a new letter of apology, hoping Anna would see them.
Over time, some netizens' attitudes began to shift. What had started as anger slowly turned to pity, and some even began speaking up for Jonathan.
When Anna saw those apology letters, she found them moving. She thought, "If he'd stayed, would he ever apologize?" "No," she mused, "he'd probably have become even worse, going from just Bella to countless other women." She then asked herself, "Why should I spare him?"
It was a one-time thing or endless, she contemplated. She had already achieved a fulfilling life she couldn't have imagined before—living by the sea, keeping busy, meeting interesting new people, and sometimes doing nothing at all, or staying home and painting the landscapes she had seen.
