Chapter 110

Hansel found satisfaction in being needed, in knowing he held a special place in someone's heart—something Miranda had never offered him. Even so, when he finally met Ingrid, something felt wrong, though he couldn't pinpoint it.

He walked to the shore and froze, his eyes hardening, his demeanor grim. He saw Miranda and Sam lounging in nearby chairs, laughing and drinking.

Ingrid hurried after him, quickly applying serum after removing her face mask. Her heels sank into the sand, slowing her progress. It took her a while to catch up.

"Dear, what's—" Ingrid's voice trailed off as she followed his gaze.

"Looks like Miranda's hitting it off with Mr. Cooper," she said, her tone light. "They're even sharing a drink."

Hansel's face remained emotionless.

"I almost mistook them for a couple from afar. They look quite well together. Isn't it a coincidence that Miranda and Mr. Cooper are both vacationing in Marvedis? Do you think they planned this, or is it just luck? I wonder."

Linking her arm through his, Ingrid continued, "The sea breeze is fierce. It's freezing."

She sneezed. Having rushed out, she wore only a strappy dress and had forgotten her shawl. The cold bit, but Hansel didn't offer his coat. His coldness chilled her to the bone.

Ingrid tightened her grip, jealous, but maintaining an innocent look. "Dear, I'm freezing. Can we go back?"

Hansel pulled away and left. Ingrid stood momentarily lost, then hurried after him. "Dear, wait up…"

She took a few steps, then turned back to Miranda, muttering in a daze, "She's still holding on, huh?"

She finally caught up with Hansel, and they returned to their hotel.

The sound of running water came from the bathroom. Ingrid glanced in the mirror. She wore a seductive slip that clung to her flawless skin; her beauty was captivating.

After Hansel showered, he slipped into a silk robe and dried his wet hair. As he went to the bar for red wine, delicate hands slipped through his robe and gently traced his chest.

Ingrid pressed close, nuzzling his ear playfully. Her touch was flirtatious, alluring. "Dear, it's been a while since you've shown me affection. Don't you want me? I love you so much. Don't push me away, okay?"

Hansel remained silent.

Ingrid took this as encouragement. She reached for his pants, but a sharp shove sent her stumbling back. Hansel's cold voice cut through: "I'm tired and not in the mood for this."

Ingrid didn't give up. She reached out again, but her courage melted when she met his emotionless gaze. She froze.

Hansel, out of patience, left for another room. Ingrid watched him go, her chest heaving with frustration. She could barely contain her anger. She'd believed their relationship would strengthen after recent events, but he'd shown no interest since.
