Chapter 186
“Alright, alright. You’re amazing! Happy now?” Miranda conceded.
“Well, according to hospital rules and procedures, car accident victims need to contact their family members,” Winter explained. “I didn’t want to worry my parents, so I had to give them your number.” Sighing irritably, she pulled out her phone and said, “If my phone hadn’t been smashed and gone completely black, I wouldn’t have missed your calls.”
Miranda finally understood why her calls had gone straight to voicemail.
“How are you feeling now? Do you feel any discomfort?” Miranda asked, worried about Winter’s condition after the major pile-up.
“I did all the necessary checks before you got here. Everything’s normal. We just need to handle some paperwork at the reception, and then I can be discharged.”
Miranda breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s good.”
Winter carried only a small bag. They went downstairs, settled the bill, and were about to leave when they unexpectedly bumped into Evelyn and Ingrid. The two were talking quietly, Evelyn smiling and Ingrid nodding. They seemed very harmonious.
Evelyn was saying, “…So, you have to be more careful in the future. Try to avoid any bumps or bruises.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll be careful,” Ingrid replied.
Winter sneered. “No wonder the mistress is so brazen—she has the jerk’s mom backing her up!” Seeing Miranda for the first time in six months, Evelyn noticed she didn’t look as downtrodden as she had imagined; on the contrary, she seemed to be in good spirits.
Ingrid paused, noticing Miranda. She instinctively placed a hand on her lower back and subtly protruded her belly.
She greeted Miranda first: “Ms. Sutton, what a coincidence! I didn’t expect to see you at the hospital.”
Miranda’s smile faded. She stepped aside, ready to leave.
Ingrid then casually remarked, “I’ve been feeling discomfort in my stomach lately. After a check-up, I found out I’m pregnant. I didn’t expect it; it was a complete surprise. But it was a huge delight for Hansel. It’s still early, so you can’t really tell. I’m a little worried that when my belly gets bigger, it’ll be hard to go out. Then I’ll have to watch what I eat.” Ingrid rambled on with a faint smile.

Miranda turned, her expression calm. “Congratulations. But you don’t need to tell me all this.”
“But I wanted to share it with you…” Ingrid replied.
Winter snapped, “Share my ass! I’ve never seen someone so proud of being a mistress! You think being pregnant is a big deal? Even pigs get pregnant—what’s there to brag about? You should be more concerned about getting Hansel to marry you before your belly shows! You’re sitting on a pile of bad cards, and instead of playing them right, you’re making others sick. I seriously don’t get what’s going on in your head!”
“How… how can you say that…” Ingrid said, her lower lip trembling. Tears welled in her eyes.
Evelyn immediately stepped in front of Ingrid. “Ms. Jefferson, watch your language!”
Winter smirked. “Sorry, but I find it really hard to be polite to shameless, brazen people.”
“You!” Evelyn felt the sting of the insult but didn’t dare argue back, knowing it would be an admission of guilt.
