Chapter 82

“And you!” Hansel turned to Miranda. “You’re truly despicable. Of all people, you chose him? Are you satisfied now?”

Miranda felt furious and aggrieved by his accusation. She’d been dragged into this for no reason. What had she done wrong?

In the face of Hansel’s questioning, Sam remained terrifyingly silent. He rubbed the bruise on his nose and smirked coldly. “You asked what we were doing. Well, didn’t you see everything?”

Hansel’s expression was stony. “So you don’t plan to explain?”

“What do I have to explain? Must I explain that I like Miranda and want to pursue her?”

Miranda’s face paled at his words.

Hansel’s eyes reddened with rage. He raised his fist and swung it at Sam’s face. “Asshole! Did you just say you like her and want to pursue her? How dare you!”

Sam’s head snapped to the right from the punch, his mind abuzz. However, his first action was to push Miranda behind him to protect her. “What? Are you saying I can’t?”

Seeing him protect her infuriated Hansel. Gritting his teeth, he emphasized each word: “Of course not!”

“And who are you to decide? You’re just her ex-boyfriend.”

“It’s only over if I say so. Who are you to say otherwise?”

“Hm, haven’t you already said it? You broke up with her. We were all there. Have you forgotten so quickly?”

“I see.” Hansel nodded with an icy smile. “So, you were waiting for that moment?”

A guilty look crossed Sam’s face. “Sorry, but you were the one who…”

“That doesn’t mean you can go after her! Sam, how could you be so thoughtless? Everyone knows not to date your friend’s ex!”

Nowadays, it’s normal for couples to break up and get back together. Are you saying Miranda can never date anyone else? Even if she does, there will always be someone else.

Images of Miranda with other men, building a family with them, flooded Hansel’s mind. As though something exploded in his head, his clenched fist shook uncontrollably, and his mind went blank. By the time he regained his senses, he was already punching Sam.

Sam reacted quickly, dodging Hansel’s blows, but because he was protecting Miranda, he couldn’t avoid being hit a few times. Of course, Hansel fared no better. Sam, having grown up with him, knew his weaknesses. Soon, Hansel had a split lip and bruises on his forehead.

Ingrid sat in the drawing room for a few minutes to compose herself. Then, she went downstairs to look for Hansel. She’d thought it over. Miranda was a figure from the past; running into her was unavoidable. There was no need to be petty; it would only make her seem spiteful.

After reaching this conclusion, her mood brightened. However, after searching the entire hall, she still couldn’t find Hansel. Finally, a waiter directed her to the garden. There, she saw something shocking: Hansel was in a fistfight with Sam!

Ingrid was frightened by the ferocity of their fight. Regaining her composure and seeing Hansel’s injuries, she hurried over. “Stop it! Stop fighting! Someone will get seriously hurt!”

She reached out to grab Hansel’s arm, but he shoved her aside, causing her to fall to the ground.

When Calvin and Zach heard the commotion, they came running.
