Chapter 10

Violet immediately looked up at Valerie as if she’d been struck by lightning.

“What did you just say?”

Valerie had always been intimidated by Violet. She flinched and took a step backward instinctively. However, she insisted, “Dylan’s already divorced you. You never liked him anyway. So, why aren’t you with Archer yet?”

“How did you know that Dylan and I are divorced?”

Valerie popped her eyes. “Didn’t you tell me to deliver him some documents the other day?” She’d just happened to see the divorce agreement on the table. It was just that she thought Dylan had been lying about it. But now that Dylan still hadn’t returned after so long, Valerie was starting to believe that the divorce was real.

Violet’s face turned black after hearing Valerie’s explanation. She didn’t even have to think to know that Dylan hadn’t been joking when he left the divorce agreement behind. He had really wanted to divorce her.

She slammed her mug of coffee on the table. Dylan was deeply in love with her. How could she bear this? It seemed as though she had been too lenient with Dylan, spoiling him absolutely rotten.

Man, where could Dylan go anyway?

“Can you call Dylan and tell him to stop sulking and come back home?” she told the maid.

The maid spoke hesitantly, an apprehensive look on her face.

“We’ve tried calling him before, but the call never went through.”

Violet grabbed her phone and opened her contacts list. After scrolling for a while, she realized that she had never saved his number in her contacts. The last time she called, she’d gotten Barbara to do it instead.

Violet got Dylan’s number from the maid. Then, she called the number. However, the only thing she heard was the robotic female voice telling her that the number was no longer in service. Dylan had actually terminated his phone number!

Violet stared at the blank screen on her phone. The fury in her eyes continued to grow.

She suddenly stood up and hurried out of the door. Valerie was shocked and called out to her, but didn’t manage to stop Violet.

It wasn’t until Violet was in her car, on the road, waiting for the stoplight to turn green, that she finally managed to calm down. Where was she supposed to start looking for Dylan? Dylan had been an orphan since young. He had been staying at the orphanage in the Pasig area. Poor him.

After getting a hold of herself, Violet headed straight for the Surigao orphanage.

When Becky saw the angry Violet approaching her, her face turned cold and hollow. She first told the teachers to quiet down before settling down in her chair. “Have a seat, Ms. Fadden. Were you looking for someone?”

Violet decided not to pick a fight with Becky. Instead, she just looked at the director.

“I’d just like to ask you, Ms. Villar, if you know where Dylan could be. He…”

At first, Violet wanted to clarify that her life was a mess without Dylan around. However, considering Becky’s status and identity, she ultimately decided not to say anything about it. A sad look appeared instantly in Becky’s eyes.

Violet and Dylan had been married for five years, yet this was how Violet treated Dylan each time?

Becky instantly felt sorry for Dylan. But, it quickly turned into a sense of relief. She was relieved that Dylan was done repaying his parents, and had divorced Violet. A woman Violet wasn’t worth Dylan paying for the rest of his life.

Becky didn’t look at Violet as she started working on her things.

“You’ve been married to Dylan for five years. If you don’t know where he is, how would I know? I think you should go back, Ms. Fadden.”

Seeing that her efforts had been in vain, Violet clenched her jaw. She had always thought that the ice agent held some control over Dylan; that Dylan was just pulling a stunt. But now, he had terminated his phone number, and she had no idea where to find him. She couldn’t believe he really wanted to divorce her.

Well, Violet felt deceived. Dylan had been so deeply in love with her. How could he just leave her silently?

Just then, her phone started ringing. Violet answered the call. Mandy’s weak voice was heard on the other end of the line.

“Violet, come home quickly. I’ve got something to tell you.”

Mandy looked at Violet and sighed. “You and Dylan are divorced, and I checked in the country after his divorce, you and Archer—” “Mom,” Violet quickly said, interrupting Mandy halfway through, “we haven’t agreed to divorce him yet.”

Mandy’s eyes widened. She then retrieved a divorce certificate from a drawer. “But even your choice is already out! Didn’t Dylan tell you anything?”
