Chapter
Later, Valerie led a group of wealthy heirs to Dylan. When Dylan looked up, he was already surrounded. Valerie glared at him gleefully. “What? You’ve been married to my sister for years, and you’re still hiding in a corner, cowering? She gets all lovey-dovey with Archer! I told you long ago that Archer is the only person my sister likes. She only got together with you to heal wounds. If you know what’s best for you, you should just fuck off and leave her alone. Why are you still leeching shamelessly?”
Dylan was in a hurry to leave; he didn’t care about the group. He turned to leave. However, the group became more aggressive.
“Archer has gone abroad. Did you really think you’d marry into the Padden family?” one sneered. “Don’t you know what kind of shitty background you’re from?” Another added, “Get my advice and leave the Padden family immediately if you know what’s best for you.”
The people kept pushing Dylan and showering him with insults. “Are you dumb? What the fucking hell is wrong with you? Aren’t you listening?”
Seeing Dylan didn’t react, one of them, hot-tempered, punched Dylan in the back. There was a loud crash as Dylan landed heavily on a pyramid of cocktail glasses. The glasses shattered, clear cocktail liquid mixing with Dylan’s blood, pooling shockingly on the ground.
Violet’s eyes widened from the stage. She immediately released Archer’s arm and ran over. Seeing Dylan lying in a pool of blood, her eyes blazed with indescribable anger. She immediately bent down to help him up. She called for her family doctor and glanced at the surrounding people.
“Who did this?” she demanded.
The press was shocked into silence. Violet’s face was thunderous. Just as she was about to speak, a bodyguard approached. “Ms. Padden, Mr. Niall just mentioned he’s having a terrible headache. You need to hurry and take a look at him!”
Violet didn’t let go of Dylan. She frowned slightly. The bodyguard’s urgent tone intensified. “He’s in so much pain he’s writhing on the ground.”
Violet hesitated, caught in a dilemma. She looked at Dylan, her hesitation evident.
