Chapter 112: Sense My True Identity
Hayleyโs POV:
On the evening of my birthday, the Alpha werewolvesโ powers would surge beyond normal limits. Would he be able to sense my true identity through the faint scents I hadnโt managed to disguise completely?
However, with my flight approaching, there was no time for deep thoughts. I rushed to the airport restroom, quickly changing into my old, plain clothes. I checked my reflection in the mirror several times, ensuring I blended in before stepping out.
Before heading back to the Southwells, I collected a package containing Harmonyโs album along with gifts my grandparents had prepared for the Southwells family.
Upon returning to the Southwells residence, I announced my arrival, โGrandpa Southwell, Iโm back!โ as I entered with my arms loaded with bags. A servant hurried to assist me.
Grandpa Southwell looked up from his newspaper, his face lighting up with a warm smile. โHayz! Itโs so wonderful to see you. I missed you while you were away.โ
I dashed over to him. โI missed you too, Grandpa Southwell! I brought you something from home, and my grandparents sent your favorite coffee beans.โ
He nodded enthusiastically. โThatโs fantastic! How was your time at home, Hayz?โ
I shyly stuck out my tongue. โIt was alright.โ
โThatโs good to hear! You must be tired after such a long trip. You should go upstairs and rest. Iโll have the staff notify you when dinner is ready.โ
I did feel quite exhausted; the lengthy flight had drained me, and I was barely holding it together. โOkay, Grandpa Southwell. Iโll head upstairs now.โ
With that, I made my way up, stopping first at Irvingโs room. I knocked on the door, and after a brief moment, it swung open. When Irving saw me, his eyes lit up with excitement. โHayley, youโre back?โ
I nodded, handing him one of the albums I had brought. โThis is a special edition of Harmonyโs album from my collection. Itโs a gift for you.โ
Irvingโs enthusiasm was infectious. โYou actually have this album? Itโs so rare! Iโve looked everywhere for it!โ
Feeling a bit shy, I scratched my head. โIโm glad you like it. Iโll go back to my room now.โ
But Irving called out to me, โWait, Hayley.โ
I turned back, intrigued.
โSince you gave me such a valuable album, Iโd love to take you out for dinner sometime. How does that sound?โ
I was tempted to decline, but seeing his eager expression made me reconsider. A simple meal couldnโt hurt.
Irvingโs face lit up. โGreat! Iโll pick you up from school,โ
I didnโt think much of it as I nodded and returned to my room.
Once inside, I quickly took photos of the albums and sent them to Christine.
I wrote, โHey babe, I have a surprise for you. Want to guess what it is?โ
Christine replied, โWhat kind of surprise?โ
Her casual response changed when I sent the photos. She was left speechless.
Christine wrote, โOh, my gosh! This is my idolโs album! How did you get so many? Iโm so jealous!โ
Christine followed up. โWait, wait, wait. You said you had a gift for me. This isnโt it, right? I love you so much right now!โ
Christine continued, โAre you back at Midnight Pack? Just wait! Iโm coming over right away!โ
I shook my head, exasperated by Christineโs enthusiasm.
I wrote, โCould you tone it down a little?โ
Christine wrote back, โNope! Just wait for me!โ
I responded with a simple โOkay,โ before grabbing some clothes and heading to the bathroom for a shower.
I thought Christine would take at least an hour to drive over, but as soon as I stepped out of the shower, she was already there. It seemed she must have transformed into a wolf and sprinted over.
โAh! Babe! My Harmony!โ Christine exclaimed, wrapping her arms around the albums and covering them with kisses. I couldnโt help but roll my eyes at her excitement. โTheyโre just a few albums; is it really that big of a deal?โ
She insisted, โYou donโt understand! These are albums Iโve dreamed about for so long. Iโve spent countless nights trying to get them. Now that I actually have them, it feels unreal! Hayley, how did you manage to collect so many limited editions?โ
I felt a bit awkward. โI just picked some up while I was out; I didnโt think theyโd be so useful.โ
Christine clearly didnโt buy my explanation. โHayley, you must have struck gold! Thereโs no way you found this many at once. Theyโre not fake, are they?โ She flipped one of the albums over. The authentic albums had a gold line along the opening that glimmered in the light, showing different colorsโsomething the fakes couldnโt replicate.
After inspecting it, Christine gasped. โTheyโre all real! Iโm so lucky!โ
I chuckled. โWatch the drool; youโre going to ruin the albums.โ
Christine ignored my comment. โThank you, babe! Giving me all these limited edition Harmony albums makes you my idol!โ
I laughed. โYouโre so easily impressed; I canโt believe a few albums won you over.โ
She grinned. โWell, who wouldnโt be? Harmony has been my idol for years. Iโm telling you, if I ever get to meet herโฆโ
โWhat would you do?โ I asked, intrigued.
Christine replied earnestly, โIโd definitely ask her for a hug.โ
โThatโs it? Thatโs your simple wish?โ
She continued, โJust a hug would be more than enough! As a fan, receiving a hug from my idol would be the most amazing experience ever. I hope that day arrives.โ
I looked at her and assured her, โDonโt worry; it will happen.โ
Christine thought I was just trying to make her feel better, brushing it off with a smile. โI will meet my idol one day.โ
The following day, I went to school as usual. Irving was my ride, and just as we arrived, he called out to me before I could get out of the car. โIโll pick you up after school. Letโs go have dinner together.โ
I started to ask why, but Irving quickly added, โYou promised to have dinner with me. I hope you wonโt refuse me.โ
With him saying it like that, I couldnโt say no. โAlright, Iโll see you this afternoon.โ
I waved at Irving as I walked toward the school building.
โHayley!โ
Suddenly, I heard someone calling my name from a distance. I turned around to seeโฆ
