Chapter 153: Formulated Plan
Benjaminโs POV:
โAre you certain it was him?โ George asked in disbelief.
I nodded and answered honestly. โAfter the accident during my race on the mountain road, I started an investigation. The carโs brakes had been tampered with. My team followed the trail and traced it back to Irving.โ
โI kept the incident under wraps, thinking it was just a momentary lapse in judgment on his part. I wanted to give him another chance. But instead, heโs only grown bolder and more reckless.โ
As I spoke, I pulled out another document. โGrandpa, before you look at this, I want you to be prepared.โ
George took the document and opened it. His eyes locked onto the pages, his hands clenching tightly as his face turned a mix of fury and pain. His voice trembled as he asked, โDid he do all of this too?โ
I knew it was cruel, but I couldnโt deny the truth. I nodded solemnly.
โGrandpa, youโve always taught us that unity and trust are the foundations of protecting the Midnight Pack and ensuring the Southwell Group thrives. Iโve kept your words close to my heart.โ
โBut this situation has taught me a harsh lesson. It almost brought the Southwell Group to its knees and jeopardized the stability of the Midnight Pack.โ
George swept his arm across the desk, sending the cups crashing to the floor. The sound echoed sharply.
โIrving is a disgrace!โ he roared.
I quickly tried to calm him down. โGrandpa, Iโm only telling you this because Iโve already formulated a plan. I just need your full support to carry it out.โ
George exhaled deeply and gave a resigned nod. โFine. After everything heโs done, even I canโt keep defending him.โ
โBut I must say thisโhe is still your brother, even if you donโt share the same mother. You both carry our werewolf blood. Handle this with restraint. Give him at least a shred of dignity.โ
โI understand, Grandpa,โ I replied.
George sighed heavily. โBen, youโve never caused me to worry since you were a child. Iโm glad you inherited the Alpha position of the Midnight Pack. I trust you completely.โ
โDo what you need to do. If you run into anything you canโt handle, let me know.โ
โUnderstood, Grandpa,โ I said respectfully.
He waved me off tiredly. โThatโs all. Just make sure this is resolved.โ
As I stepped out of the room, I ran into Hayley.
โHowโs everything going with the company?โ she asked, her tone warm but concerned.
I gave her a reassuring look. โDonโt worry, the company will be fine.โ
โIs there anything I can help with?โ she offered.
I was about to decline, but her eager eyes made me pause. Without thinking, I agreed.
Hayleyโs face lit up, and she quickly followed me. Once we got into the car, I handed her a stack of files.
โSort these out. Weโll need them for tonightโs meeting.โ
She opened the files without question and began reviewing them. Her focus was intense as she meticulously marked the key points with a pen. Watching her work so diligently gave me a sense of relief. Even my inner wolf seemed calmer, soothed by her faint but alluring scent.
Not wanting to let her distract me further, I turned my attention to Tyrone.
โTyrone, whatโs the situation at the company?โ
Tyrone hesitated briefly before responding. โSeveral major clients have been poached by Irving. Theyโve all requested to terminate their contracts. Some employees are still undecided about staying, but as per your instructions, Iโve refrained from intervening.โ
I nodded. โWe need to prepare for the worst. I expect the stock market to collapse tomorrow.โ
โSpread the wordโno one is to work overtime tonight. Everyone leaves on time.โ
Tyrone looked alarmed. โAlpha, I donโt think thatโs a good idea. If everyone clocks out early, the companyโs operations could come to a standstill. That would cause chaos!โ
I replied calmly. โThen let the chaos come.โ
Irving, youโll learn soon enoughโas the Alpha of the Midnight Pack, I will not let your schemes succeed.
