Chapter 203: Grandpa and Grandma Are Here
Hayleyโs POV:
โWhat are the conditions?โ Henry asked, looking at me with confusion.
To make it to the Presidentโs List again, Iโll stay up all night playing games with you,โ I replied.
Henryโs eyes widened. โBoss, are you serious?โ
I smiled and nodded. โYes, Iโm serious.โ
Henry immediately jumped up, excited. โBoss, wait for me! Iโm definitely going to make it onto the Presidentโs List again! And donโt forget your promise to stay up all night playing games with me!โ
I nodded again. โDonโt worry, I wonโt forget.โ
With that assurance, Henry put down his game and left, brimming with confidence. I had no idea what he was preparing.
After a long day of classes, I returned to the Southwell residence. But as soon as I stepped inside, I noticed that the house was unusually lively. I never expected that my grandparents had arrived.
In the living room, George was welcoming Bill and Dorothy Carson.
โYou two have traveled a long way; it wasnโt easy for you. This time, make sure to stay with us for a while before you head back.โ
Bill smiled radiantly and said, โGeorge, when I sent my granddaughter here, you promised me that youโd make sure to match the kids and make them each otherโs mate.โ
He raised an eyebrow. โItโs been over half a year now. Not a single update?โ
โWeโve been waiting for the good news of their engagement and strengthening the bond between our packs.โ
George smacked his head. He said, โBill, you canโt rush their feelings, but I donโt think these two are entirely indifferent to each other. They just need a little push, and that might get them to take the next step.โ
Before he could finish, a servant entered and reported, โMs. Carson is back.โ
Immediately, the trio exchanged glances, their minds as clear as day.
โHayz is back. We need to carefully find out whatโs going on,โ Bill whispered.
Dorothy quickly chimed in, โLetโs make sure we respect Hayzโs decision and not interfere too much.โ
Bill patted her hand reassuringly. โDonโt worry. As long as Hayz is happy, Iโll support her; her grandfather. I wonโt make things difficult for her.โ
Dorothy seemed to relax. Across from them, George added, โDonโt worry, Iโve been keeping an eye on the kids. Iโm just as eager as you, but thereโs nothing we can do.โ
At that moment, I walked in and was immediately surprised to see my grandparents. My eyes lit up, and I asked, โGrandpa and Grandma, what brings you here?โ
I rushed forward and threw myself into Grandmaโs arms. โGrandma, I missed you so much!โ
Grandma gently stroked my face; her eyes had welled. โOh, My Hayz.โ
Grandpa feigned a solemn manner and asked, โHayz, are you adjusting well to life in the Midnight Pack?โ
I nodded eagerly and said, โEverythingโs fine here.โ
Their worried expressions softened with my assurance.
We chatted for a while. A servant came in to report to George, โOld Mr. Southwell, your grandchildren are back.โ
Benjamin, followed by Christopher, Henry, and Tanner, entered the room. George motioned for them to greet my grandparents.
โHere they are. This is Bill and Dorothy.โ
All the brothers called out in unison, โGreetings, Bill and Dorothy.โ
Grandpa and Grandma scanned each of them in turn, finally settling their gaze on Benjamin.
โTheyโre all good kids, George! Each of your grandsons is more impressive than the last.โ
โEspecially Benjamin, whoโs now the alpha. Heโs managing the Midnight Pack really well.โ
George laughed and said, โDonโt flatter them. Compared to Hayz, theyโre nothing.โ
โBill and Dorothy, since youโve come all this way, letโs all have a good time tonight.โ George led us all to the dining room.
The two families gathered together for a lively dinner.
Grandpa looked at me before turning to George. He said, โActually, we came to take Hayz back with us.โ
โSheโs been here for a while now, and we didnโt want to overstay our welcome.โ
I wasnโt expecting this. My heart sank.
Across from me, the Southwell brothers exchanged looks.
Henry glanced at me and immediately asked, โMy boss leaving so soon?โ
