Chapter 228: Donโt Show Up in Front of Me Again
Horaceโs POV:
The horseback riding session was abruptly cut short because of Hayleyโs injury. She was about to start school, so after explaining things to Johnny, she left with Benjamin and returned to the Southwell Residence. Once she left, I found an excuse to leave Johnnyโs villa as well. As soon as I returned to the Snowstorm Pack, I stormed into my second-in-commandโs office. I demanded sharply, โHow did this happen? Didnโt I tell you to tamper with Benjaminโs horse? Why did Hayley fall off?โ
He hurriedly tried to explain, โAlpha, this wasnโt my plan. We had only tampered with the horse Benjamin had chosen, but I was unaware that those two horses were mates. Turns out, the d*mn beast might actually have some attachment.โ
โIdiot!โ I growled, furious, my hands itching to shift into my wolf form and rip these incompetent fools to shreds. โNone of you can do anything right. Youโve ruined my plans! With your level of incompetence, when will the Snowstorm Pack ever surpass the Midnight Pack?โ
โIโm sorry, Alpha. This was my mistake. Iโll improve next time.โ
My patience ran out and I snapped, โNext time? Thereโs no โnext time.โ Get out of my sight!โ
โAlpha, Iโโ
โDonโt you understand what Iโm saying? Get out! And if this leak gets out, I wonโt spare you!โ I growled, dismissing them with a wave of my hand.
โThis will stay hidden, Alpha. We made sure of it.โ His voice was firm.
I took a moment to calm myself down. Despite todayโs failure, I could tell that Hayley and Benjaminโs bond seemed strong. Iโd have to work harder if I wanted to steal Hayley from him, but I thrive on challenges. Besides, Hayley and Benjamin were just chosen mates, not destined ones. Their connection wasnโt unbreakable. With my abilities, there was nothing I couldnโt achieve.
Chapter 228: Donโt Show Up in Front of Me Again
Hayley, just wait; youโll be my Luna soon.
Hayleyโs POV:
After I got back to the Southwell Residence, my foot had healed by the next morning. That day, Benjamin offered to drive me to school. โThanks for what you did yesterday. I owe you one. I promise Iโll return the favor when the chance comes,โ I told him.
Benjamin gave a small, indifferent smile and looked at me, his eyes deep and full of mystery, as if they held a thousand stars. โHayley, Iโm not helping you for repayment,โ he said in a teasing tone. โWhy not consider making this more than just a favor? How about we make it real?โ
I froze at his words, my throat suddenly tight. I coughed hard, struggling for breath. After a few moments, I realized my face was burning. I quickly stammered, โWโwhat are you joking about?โ
Benjamin looked at me for a long moment, then suddenly grinned, his smile easy and warm. โI was just messing with you,โ he explained. โIf you feel like you owe me, then just keep it as a debt for now.โ
With that, he turned and walked away. I was left standing there, feeling confused. Something about Benjamin felt off today. Hera, already nearly boiling over with frustration, complained to me. โHayley! Why didnโt you agree to be his mate? Heโs our destined mate!โ
I immediately told her to be quiet, but at the same time, my heart was racing from Benjaminโs words. God! I almost gave in and agreed to him. That would have been so awkward! Benjamin was clearly just joking around, and yet I almost took him seriously. I couldnโt help but mutter to myself, โBenjamin sure knows how to joke around now.โ
When we arrived at school, I quickly unbuckled my seatbelt and waved at Benjamin before getting out. โIโll head in now. See you later!โ
Benjamin nodded and left. Not long after, the same parking spot was filled by Christopherโs car.
Christineโs POV:
When we arrived at the school gate, I quickly unbuckled my seatbelt. I almost called him my hubby, but I managed to stop myself just in time. โChristopher, thank you for driving me to school. But Iโm fine now, really. You donโt need to worry about it,โ I said, leaning down to thank him.
He said, โIโm just glad youโre okay. If you feel unwell, text me immediately. Donโt try to tough it out. If somethingโs wrong, go to the hospital right away. Youโre an Omega,โ he added, his voice soft with concern. โYour healing ability is slower, and your wounds take longer to recover. You have to be careful.โ
Hearing his words, my heart swelled with happiness. โI know, Iโll be careful. Iโll head to school now,โ I said. Though I felt reluctant, I opened the door and stepped out, glancing back at him several times before reluctantly walking into school.
As soon as I entered the classroom, I spotted Hayley and hurried over to her. โHayley, sorry about earlier. My phone was broken, so I couldnโt reply to you right away.โ Hayley looked up and smiled. โNo worries at all!โ But before I could say anything more, she suddenly asked meโ
