Chapter 231: Hurt

Gillianโ€™s POV:

Christopher shot me a cold glance, rejecting me outright. โ€œI donโ€™t know what kind of evidence you think you have, but none of it poses any threat to me. As for the deal youโ€™re suggesting, Iโ€™m not interested. Youโ€™d better find someone else.โ€

I didnโ€™t expect him to make me feel so embarrassed. At first, I had hoped this would be my chance to strike a deal with him and turn things around in my career. But now, it was clear that Christopher was not the way forward.

I looked at him, still unwilling to give up. โ€œMr. Southwell, are you sure? If what I have were to get out, you could end up ruined. Donโ€™t you care at all?โ€

Christopher furrowed his brows and glared at me, a flicker of anger rising in his eyes. โ€œCare about what? Ms. Carr, instead of wasting your time with these shady tactics, you should be focusing on your work. You had one big hit song in your first year, but since then, have you done anything noteworthy? In this industry, whether youโ€™re a singer or an actor, in the end, itโ€™s all about your talent. Whatโ€™s the point of all this? You keep bothering me, Iโ€™ll turn into a wolf and teach you a lesson!โ€ he snapped.

His harsh words and threats stung, and I bit my lip, forcing myself to endure this. His words hurt more than Iโ€™d like to admit. It was true that I hadnโ€™t achieved much outside of that one big hit. That song, the one I was most known for, I had stolen from Harmony years ago.

I clenched my hands into fists, ready to argue back, but Christopher no longer looked at me. When he saw I wasnโ€™t leaving, he simply grabbed his coat and walked out of the room.

The large practice room suddenly felt incredibly empty, with only me left standing there. I stared at myself in the mirror, feeling like a complete joke. Christopher, huh? Fine, if you wonโ€™t let me be, then you wonโ€™t get away unscathed either.

โ€œJack, Iโ€™ve got a big scoop I want to sell to you.โ€

I picked up my phone and dialed. The moment Jack heard it was a major story, he immediately asked, โ€œWhoโ€™s unlucky enough to have caught your attention?โ€

I narrowed my eyes and said the name, โ€œChristopher Southwell.โ€ To my surprise, as soon as Jack realized he was from the Southwells, he responded, โ€œWe canโ€™t expose anything about him. His PR team is too powerful, and besides, what if the Alpha comes after us?โ€

I held back my anger and mocked him, โ€œWhat, even youโ€™re scared?โ€

โ€œNo fearโ€”just that our line of work requires constant caution. But Iโ€™m still curiousโ€”what kind of explosive dirt do you have on him?โ€

When I heard him say that, I knew Jack was interested in what I had. I instantly became calm and composed. โ€œThis is big enough to destroy Christopher. The question is, do you have the guts to expose him?โ€

Jack didnโ€™t hesitate. โ€œSounds like itโ€™s worth something. Name your price.โ€

We quickly negotiated and transferred the money to my account. I immediately sent over the backup photos. By 8 PM that night, when I logged onto the internet, I saw that explosive news had just broken online.
