Chapter 231: Hurt
Gillianโs POV:
Christopher shot me a cold glance, rejecting me outright. โI donโt know what kind of evidence you think you have, but none of it poses any threat to me. As for the deal youโre suggesting, Iโm not interested. Youโd better find someone else.โ
I didnโt expect him to make me feel so embarrassed. At first, I had hoped this would be my chance to strike a deal with him and turn things around in my career. But now, it was clear that Christopher was not the way forward.
I looked at him, still unwilling to give up. โMr. Southwell, are you sure? If what I have were to get out, you could end up ruined. Donโt you care at all?โ
Christopher furrowed his brows and glared at me, a flicker of anger rising in his eyes. โCare about what? Ms. Carr, instead of wasting your time with these shady tactics, you should be focusing on your work. You had one big hit song in your first year, but since then, have you done anything noteworthy? In this industry, whether youโre a singer or an actor, in the end, itโs all about your talent. Whatโs the point of all this? You keep bothering me, Iโll turn into a wolf and teach you a lesson!โ he snapped.
His harsh words and threats stung, and I bit my lip, forcing myself to endure this. His words hurt more than Iโd like to admit. It was true that I hadnโt achieved much outside of that one big hit. That song, the one I was most known for, I had stolen from Harmony years ago.
I clenched my hands into fists, ready to argue back, but Christopher no longer looked at me. When he saw I wasnโt leaving, he simply grabbed his coat and walked out of the room.
The large practice room suddenly felt incredibly empty, with only me left standing there. I stared at myself in the mirror, feeling like a complete joke. Christopher, huh? Fine, if you wonโt let me be, then you wonโt get away unscathed either.
โJack, Iโve got a big scoop I want to sell to you.โ
I picked up my phone and dialed. The moment Jack heard it was a major story, he immediately asked, โWhoโs unlucky enough to have caught your attention?โ
I narrowed my eyes and said the name, โChristopher Southwell.โ To my surprise, as soon as Jack realized he was from the Southwells, he responded, โWe canโt expose anything about him. His PR team is too powerful, and besides, what if the Alpha comes after us?โ
I held back my anger and mocked him, โWhat, even youโre scared?โ
โNo fearโjust that our line of work requires constant caution. But Iโm still curiousโwhat kind of explosive dirt do you have on him?โ
When I heard him say that, I knew Jack was interested in what I had. I instantly became calm and composed. โThis is big enough to destroy Christopher. The question is, do you have the guts to expose him?โ
Jack didnโt hesitate. โSounds like itโs worth something. Name your price.โ
We quickly negotiated and transferred the money to my account. I immediately sent over the backup photos. By 8 PM that night, when I logged onto the internet, I saw that explosive news had just broken online.
