Chapter 246: Iโ€™ve Already Met Him

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

โ€œWhat?โ€ I asked.

He replied, โ€œI checked Benjaminโ€™s flight information. Heโ€™s already arrived in Meeham. It seems like you were on the same flight.โ€

I nodded calmly and said, โ€œIโ€™ve already met him.โ€

Now it was Thomasโ€™s turn to be shocked. โ€œOh my god! Alpha, he didnโ€™t recognize you, did he?โ€

I shrugged and said, โ€œNot really. But Iโ€™m sure weโ€™ll cross paths at the competition. It wonโ€™t matter, though.โ€

After all, in Benjaminโ€™s eyes, I was now known as Hazel. He would never connect todayโ€™s version of me with Hayley.

I took a taxi to the hotel, checked in, and went straight to my room. After a two-hour flight, I was feeling exhausted. I took a shower and then climbed into bed, pulling the covers around me as I fell into a deep sleep.

When I woke up, it was already evening. I reached for my phone and saw two missed calls, both from unfamiliar numbers, both showing Meeham as the location. Surprised, my trip was supposed to be confidential, so who could be calling me? I didnโ€™t think much of it and tossed the phone aside.

Just then, the doorbell rang. โ€œHello, room service.โ€

I opened the door, and the server rolled in a beautifully arranged dinner. โ€œMs. Carson, Mr. Somer has ordered this dinner for you. Please enjoy.โ€

Looking at the fine meal, I couldnโ€™t help but appreciate Thomasโ€™s assistant. Everything had been taken care of.

โ€œIf you need anything, please donโ€™t hesitate to call us,โ€ the server said as they left. I walked over to shut the door.

Hera led me toward the room across the hall. No one else had made Hera react like this. I was about to step closer and investigate when, just my luck, the door across the hall opened. Benjaminโ€™s tall figure immediately caught my eye. Our gazes met, and we both read a hint of surprise in each otherโ€™s eyes.

I felt a little awkward. What kind of room had Thomas booked? Not only had he managed to get us both in the same hotel, but now our rooms were directly across from each other.

โ€œHello, Mr. Southwell!โ€ I forced a calm expression and gave him a standard smile, trying to greet him without revealing my discomfort.

Benjaminโ€™s POV:

I opened the door, and to my surprise, I ran into Hazel again. I frowned. I never believed in coincidences like this. Not only were we on the same flight, but we were staying at the same hotel. Even more coincidental, we were now staying in rooms directly across from each other. The odds of all these coincidences happening at once were minuscule, but here we were.

โ€œI didnโ€™t expect to meet you so soon,โ€ I said politely. I kept an eye on my wolf, noticing that he too seemed at ease around her. Still, there was no trace of the faint, pleasant scent that had occasionally pleased him when it came to Hayley.

After exchanging pleasantries, Hazel responded, โ€œYes, quite a coincidence.โ€ Then she added, โ€œMr. Southwell, you havenโ€™t eaten yet, have you? Iโ€™ve ordered dinner. Would you like to join me?โ€

Such a direct approach to flirting was something I was used to by now. With all these coincidences, I couldnโ€™t help but think Hazel was just like the other women who tried to seduce me. I had once thought Hazel was special, but now I realized I had overestimated her.

โ€œNo need, I was just about to head out,โ€ I declined curtly.

Hazel didnโ€™t insist. She gave me a casual wave and said, โ€œThen, Mr. Southwell, goodbye.โ€ Afterward, she shut the door. My hands clenched tightly.

Once the door was closed, I walked down the hallway to the elevator and took it down to the lobby.

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

After returning to my room for dinner, I decided to head out alone. I took a cab to Nueveโ€™s bar. It was only 9 PM, and the bar wasnโ€™t very crowded. I took a lap around the main area, then ordered a glass of whiskey and sat down. I quickly sent Nueve a message.
