AlphHayleyโs Destined Mate
Chapter 255: No Chance at the Championship
Benjaminโs POV:
Deep down, I knew my car was broken. But right now, there was no time to dwell on that. If the brakes failed, it was only a matter of time before I lost control. The safety car wouldnโt get here in time. Before I knew it, I was catching up to Saraโs car. I threw open the door, the wind slamming into my face, and shouted toward her, โStay back! My carโs malfunctioning!โ
Hayleyโs POV:
I could hear the urgency in Benjaminโs voice. It was clear that his car had a serious problem. But I had already swapped cars with him. Why was my car still fine, while his had broken down? The crowd around the track was stunned. Everyone held their breath, eyes glued to the action. I didnโt have time to think. Without hesitation, I gripped the steering wheel, made a sharp turn, and crashed straight into Benjaminโs car. The sound of the impact echoed in the air, followed by the screech of metal as the two cars collided. The force sent me lurching forward, but the seatbelt yanked me back into place. The audience gasped and jumped to their feet.
โWhatโs going on?โ โWhatโs wrong with Sara?โ โDid she really just drive into that car?โ
The stands erupted into chaos. Nueve, looking on in disbelief, stood up. His eyes fixed on the twisted wreckage of the two cars, and his heart sank. He knew Hayley wasnโt the type to crash into someone elseโs car without a reason. There had to be something more to this.
Chapter 265: No Chance at the Championship
Hayleyโs POV:
I opened the door and got out, using my alpha strength to forcibly open Benjaminโs car door. โAre you okay?โ I asked. The crash had been severe, and Benjamin was still disoriented. When he looked up, our eyes met. He muttered, โIโm fine.โ But I noticed his leg was trapped under the wreckage, and he didnโt even realize it.
โCan you get your leg out?โ I asked again. He shook his head. โI canโt.โ The crew was already rushing over, caught off guard by the sudden turn of events. But the emergency medical team was ready. They hurried to free him from the car.
โThe leg injury is severe. Even with your alpha healing ability, we need to get you to the hospital to avoid infection,โ the doctor said, signaling for the nurses to wheel him away. I found someone to tow my car and check for damage. Before he left, Benjamin gave me a deep look and said, โSara, thank you. I know if you hadnโt driven into my car to stop it, the consequences could have been much worse.โ
After Benjamin was sent to the hospital, the race was officially concluded. Because of the accident, neither Benjamin nor I could finish the race, and I was eliminated. The championship title went to another racer.
โWhat went wrong with the car?โ I asked the mechanic. The mechanicโs gaze darkened, and he said, โThe brake line was cut. They also planted wolfsbane in the car.โ My grip tightened on the steering wheel. No wonder Benjamin had been hurt so badly as an Alpha. Wolfsbane had weakened his wolf abilities. I had suspected someone would sabotage Benjaminโs car, which was why I had swapped with him. But I never expected it wouldnโt make a difference. The accident still took place.
โSara, weโre so sorry. We should have handled this better,โ one of the staff members apologized earnestly. They knew better than to upset someone like me, a legend in the racing world. โWe never imagined someone would be bold enough to sabotage one of our racers. We sincerely regret the trouble this caused you.โ
My eyes darkened, and I spoke coldly. โIf apologies were enough, what would we need the police for? You better give me the full truth about this.โ Anger surged within me, and I let my alpha presence spill out, intensifying the tension in the air.
